great mix for wildlife or ground feeding birds
This all-natural wildlife blend includes steamed corn which has can be easier to digest, as well as black oil sunflower, red milo, peanuts, green peas and whole oats. Most common ingredients are corn and sunflower seeds, less so peanuts, whole oats and milo. It is intended as a supplement for wildlife and birds and not for domestic birds. The product also meets requirements of WBFI. The Wild Bird Feeding Industry is an association dedicated to the progressive expansion of the backyard wild bird and backyard wildlife feeding industry.
Hand-crafted mix of corn, black oil sunflower, red milo, peanuts, green peas and whole oats
Attracts squirrels, rabbits, turkeys, jays, cardinals, chickadees and many more
The product was popular with the usual wildlife creatures in a Maryland backyard. These include rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, and a variety of feeder birds. About half a pan offered disappeared overnight (not recommended feeding practice but not a problem in enclosed suburban backyard). The animals, not directly observed so far, seemed to eat all the ingredients equally.
Overall, this looks like a nice product, with several common ingredients and few less so. Animals seem to like it and eat it readily.
Pros: Good Size & Weight, High Quality, uncommon ingredients
LYRIC WILD BIRD FOOD-WILDLIFE FOOD.An all natural mix high in nutrition. Bird watchers are over 55 million strong and the folks at Lyric have been making seed products since 1947 in South Central Pennsylvania. They produce straight seeds and a mixed blend. The Wildlfe Blend has seven seeds grains and nuts. Our feeder is about 25 feet from our deck. Far enough away but close enough for a good view. This blend feeds all your backyard wildlife.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Size & Weight, High Quality, Looks Great, Lots of Features
Good variety of nuts and seeds, but my wildlife don't seem to care very much for the green peas. The birds are partial to the sunflower seeds and millet, the squirrels like the peanuts, and the blue jays love the corn kernels, but everybody eats around the peas until those are all that's left in the dish and on the ground. The peas are an unnatural very bright green and I'm wondering if whatever they are colored with is changing the taste. That is the main reason I gave this mix four stars instead of five. The other reason is that it's a ten pound bag and a zipper closing on the plastic bag would be most helpful as it's going to take a while to get through ten pounds. Right now I use a chip clip to keep the bag sealed.
This 10 pound bag for Lyric Wildlife Food has brought many hours of pleasure watching the wildlife it attracts to the feeding area. Simply pour out about a half quart of feed on the ground and it will attract an array of wildlife. We have had squirrels, woodpeckers, quail, robins, wrens and bluejays all coming for a meal everyday. Gonna have to get more soon!
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Size & Weight, a pleasurable experience
10 lb. Wildlife Food is nice but also attracts neighbors dogs into my yard. I have never used this mixture before, only wild birdseed. I thought I'd give it a try because I figured rabbits and squirrels need to eat too, not just the birds. Although it did attract rabbits and squirrels, it also attracted dogs, which I don't want. For that reason, I'm not giving it five stars. I'll have to figure out a new plan so that dogs can't get to it. I had it on a ground level feeder. If I raise it, then rabbits won't be able to use it. I better stick to birdseed only. This mixture is not suitable for some bird feeders because of the large size corn, peanuts and peas. See pics below.
The Lyric wildlife food contains a blend of corn, black oil sunflower seeds, red milo, peanuts, green peas, and whole oats. This mix is formulated to attract Cardinals,Chickadees, Bluejays, rabbits, squirrels, Titmice and more. It is suitable for a variety of types of feeders but the corn and peas may not fit through the holes in mesh feeders. Because I do not want to attract Grackles, who especially love corn, to my feeders, I decided to put the seed on the ground. It was no time at all before both birds and squirrels were devouring the seed. I have other formulations of Lyric birdseed as well; they make a quality product.
When I first received this wildlife food I thought this was a very unique blend.I have never seen it in stores before. It has a nice blend of different things like corn and sunflower seeds, It has other seeds in it too but i'm not sure what they are but the animals love it! I have seen squirrels and rabbits and pigeons. And that was when I was looking but there is no telling what other creatures have found the seeds when I'm not looking.I love this wildlife food. It lets me see a variety of animals on my land other than just birds.Oh, It smells good too!
