Good product, could have been great
I read the other reviews and knew what to look out for before I purchased these panels. I measured the joists and most of them were pretty close to 16" on center. Like others though, I had the same problem that the panels did not fit precisely when there were slight variations in spacing. The plastic tabs that fit against the joists are convenient when they fit correctly and can easily be snapped off with vice grips or pliers if your joists are slightly narrower than 16". If your joists are wider though, you're out of luck. I had to skip a few joists to make things fit correctly. That being said, the panels are extremely easy to install once you have your layout arranged. They are sturdy, easy to maneuver, and I like that they allow ventilation. I would recommend these panels as a great alternative to plywood IF they fit your joists correctly. A simple design modification to allow flexibility for deviations in joist spacing would make this a 5 star product.

Clever solution for oddly-shaped attic
Our home's attic space was apparently never intended to be visited much. It's an oddly-shaped area where you can't stand up fully -- or even half-way in some places. Electrical wiring and fire-suppression piping run every which way. The attic is accessible only via a smallish opening in the ceiling below. Add to this having to balance on wooden beams to get around up there. There was a real risk of stepping through the ceiling. Getting plywood flooring sheets into such an area would be a major chore, let alone cutting each piece to size / re-routing the electrical wiring and sprinkler pipes. That's where these "Attic Dek" squares fit in. They're small enough to fit through the entry to my attic. They're also cleverly-designed to fit between standard 16" on-center joists. Also, each Attic Dek "tile" can be placed around existing wiring/plumbing to provide something to stand on. Five deck screws are provided with each tile. My only complaint with these Attic Dek tiles is at ~$100 per box of 20 they're not inexpensive. I would say that you'd use these tiles to provide a "catwalk" to get around to key areas in an oddly-shaped attic space, not to serve as a complete attic flooring solution. Although my attic is still a challenge to get around in, with these Attic Dek tiles it's a lot easier than it used to be!

Great Flooring for the attic
Takes seconds to install into rafters. You may encounter joists that are not 16" on center. I used a dremel to quickly trim the tabs underneath. Very sturdy. If the joists differ in width of placement, radically from the 16" standard you may need to miss a section. These are pricey, but worth it so make sure your joists are fairly consistent at 16".

Excellent product. Needs to be sold in store (or store delivery option) and in larger quantities with greater discounts.
Suggest installing 2x2's top of and at 90 degress to attic floor joists. This solves the problem encountered where the floor joists are not exactly 16 inches on center as well as having to deal with the problem of electrical wiring strung across the floor joists. Use a Attic Dek floor unit to set the spacing between 2x2's and all units will fit perfectly. It also gives you a much stronger and better supported floor than trying to make them fit between th floor joists. The extra cost in doing it this way is minimal compared to the savings realized in time and frustration involved in installing them the conventional way between the floor joists.

Great investment
I have had plans to get more organized for several months now. It took me a while to purchase the panels due to the cost but I finally took a leap of faith on all the great reviews. I couldn't be happier with this product. I wish I would have purchased them sooner. It didn't take that long to install and I am making plans to purchase more to finish out my entire attic. Thanks Home Depot.

Worked as promised
Attic Dek installed quickly and feels solid underfoot. The only heads up that we would give to those considering it is that there are tabs on the bottom side of the pieces that require close-to-exact spacing between floor joists. We were working in an old house where the joist spacing varied too much for the tabs to always fit. We had to cut the tabs off in a few spots to make things work.

Great product and easy to install
I really like this product. In my last house I used cut plywood to make an attic deck and walkway, but I decided to try the Attic Dek this time. They are really light and easy to carry through the house and are easier to install than wood. They work great and are generally more expensive than plywood, but they are much more convenient - no cutting and hauling heavy wood upstairs to get to the attic. Also, there will be probably be a few areas in the attic where the studs are not 16" on center. I had to use some wood boards to cover those areas. I used 1x12 pine boards from the local Home Depot for those spots and it was fine. The pine was more expensive than the plywood, but I went for the convenience of hauling and cutting. I am ordering more of these tomorrow.

A Friendly Product For Older Adults
The item is durable and easy to install, if your ceiling joist are spaced correctly. Several of mine were not, and that became a slight installation challenge. As a older woman, it was easy to carry into the attic and work with. The finish product of 100 pieces looks impressive. The added storage space is a plus.

Better Than Wood
I would recommend to anyone with an older or even a new home to do this to the attic unless they are making a living area there.

To add additional storage space in the attic we used these attic tiles. The installation is easy. The cost is acceptable and the product is durable. I recommend this concept to any homeowner.

Easy to Get Wrong Size
I was not able to use this product becasue i purchased them before closing on a new house and the builder had told me the joists would be 16" on center. Turns out he was mistaken and they are 24". The quality of the product seems very good. The instructions are printed on a single sheet and did not have much detail. For instance, do I need to drill pilot holes first and if so what size bit is suggested? The screws look like decking screws so I would not expect to need to drill pilot holes first. Overall I would recommend this product to someone else since I went ahead and purchsed the 24"x16" versions. However, I feel like the larger models are overly expensive. For less than twice the material the 24" model is twice as expensive. Still, assuming they fit the joists then I would give them five stars if only because the attic opening is so small that trying to move a significant amount of wood up there to do the same thing would be a real pain.

Great product
I wish I'd invented this. Couldn't be easier to install and provides a cost effective, sturdy product. Wish there was a way of installing over areas with a junction box.

Very easy installation
The installation was extremely easy. You pretty much lay them out and screw in...not complicated at all. The only challenge I had was that the joists in my attic turned out to be slightly askew. There was a small allowance to wedge them in where it was too tight or space to go a bit beyond 16 inch spacing.

Very easy to install
Great product and couldn't be any easier to install. I used a dusk mask to protect against everything floating in the attic which helped but I recommend also using goggles. My eyes were irritated afterwards. I used this to create storage space and to access my soffit vents which were covered by blown in insulation.

Solved my access problem in attic.
Very easy to install, even over existing insulation. I used this product to form a path to a remote electrical box that needed repair.

Definitely recommended
This stuff rocks. I just installed about 20 of 'em in my attic. We had some critters up there nesting in the blown insulation, and I wanted sure footing when "walking the plank" through there. The nice thing about these Attic Dek panels is I was able to use them to install them, if that makes sense. Install one, then kneel on it while installing the next...and then the next, etc. They are not cheap, but it is SO nice being able to walk around up there now. The old plywood planks are gone.

    Easy to Install
Happy with this product. Was dreading the installation, but it went very smoothly. Each piece just snapped in, then went back with the screws after all were in place. Home Depot had a much better price than anywhere else online too.

Exactly what I was looking for
Having a large family, we needed to utilize storage space in the attic without ruining the integrity of the insulation. This product was easy to install and has created a large area for storage. I plan on purchasing another case or two. Well worth the money.

    Strong Product
I think folks are beating up on the value b/c of the the freight costs. Each carton (20 pcs) weighs 57LB. These ship free freight. UPS is not cheap so there's at least $20 right there. On the other hand it is just plastic, but good plastic. The product itself is very good. I like that I can walk around the attic safely w/o fear of stepping on plywood the wrong way and getting hit on the head. I also like that is resting on the studs, not insulation -- so it is easier to breathe while working around the attic. Also since each panel is relatively small you can make adjustments where there are different elevations within attic. Also as others have said installation is a breeze.

    Great product, but too expensive
I use this in my attic for maintenance and storage. I have a type of insulation that was blown in and looks like pocket lint. Installation of the Attic Dek flooring allows the insulation to breathe and does not lower the R-value by compressing the insulation as much as plywood does. Due to the cost of this product, however; I will be forced to use a mixture of plywood and Attic Dek to finish off the areas I want to use for storage. If it were even $3/panel instead of $5.55/panel I wouldn't have this gripe. Also would be nice if it were sold in stores...

    Work as advertised
The Attic Dek panels work as advertised. Highly recommend that you measure to get the right size panels before you order. I measured twice in two different areas and the panels I received fit well and are easy to install with the provided screws. The only thing that affects the fit of the panels is if there is reinforcement boards nailed to the joists, the panels will not fit because the joists may be 16" on center but the extra board changes the measurement to 14" on center, but you just need to move them to an area that is 16" on center and they fit. I used them to move around my unfinished attic space to do some maintenance before I permanently installed them for extra storage space. I am highly satisfied with the product.

Loved the product - got the wrong size
I received the wrong size, so I can to return it and have not gotten the right ones. However, I was very impressed by the attic panels - sturdy plastic that would not rot or bend. I just wish they carried it in the stores - looks much better in person.

Very nice but a bit too pricy
Strong and sturdy, easy to install on my attic. I used as a pathway over insulation. I wish they were cheaper so I could buy more. I also run cables underneath, easy to see through.
