I have wanted some real wooden planters like these for some time now. I’ve had them for about a month and am happy, I would likely buy them again

There is a perfect liner for it with some caution.
Home depot sells 3 different barrel so be sure to get the correct one. This one is 25.75in diameter. The 20 gal MacCourt pond liner is 25.75 in and will fit this one perfectly. This barrel also has 4 predrilled holes. This barrel is mimicking the real wine barrel so it is not as thick or as good.
The real half whiskey barrel is 26.5in diameter and there is no liner for it.

The Metal Ring Bands Rust Quickly and the Barrel Falls Apart after a Year.
I bought this to replace a wine barrel planter that lasted over 12 years before the wood finally rotted out. After about a year I notice the metal ring bands on this barrel showing heavy rust and eventually it broke and that was the beginning of the end of the barrel staying together.
The metal rings of the wine barrel this product replaced NEVER rusted and still have them to this day.
To save time and money be sure to get an authentic barrel, not a replica with cheaply made ring bands that fall apart fast. The irony is you can get a good wine barrel for not much more and it will last at least 10 years.

Great barrel if the manufacturer used proper strapping material
I purchased 14 of these barrels a few years ago and the metal straps only lasted one season. The straps literally disintegrated. Out of the 14, I think there are only 3 that still have all three straps. The wood is great, but without anyway to hold it together, they are all falling apart and now I have to re-pot everything after I find some new barrels. Overall I would rate this negative stars. It is expensive at $40 a piece and the straps they used are worthless. You will have to buy replacements every few years. Quality wise, the wood is excellent, but again, it doesn't matter if there is nothing to keep it together. Value is extremely poor because you will waste time, money, and gas re-doing all the work you did. I do not recommend this pot. My parents have wine barrels that are at least 12 years old.

I bought two of these, just what I needed for my project. They are sturdy, attractive and voluminous enough for tomatoes. I liked them enough to buy ten more.

I just love this real wood barrel. It is sturdy, well built, and beautiful. It's also made of Oregon wood products. We will be putting it on top of tree stump and filling it with cheerful flowers to attract bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and ladybugs. As soon as a chainsaw trims stump to proper height, it's going into commission.

Love These Barrels
We purchased several off these barrels to planet sago palms in last week. They are large and sturdy, they look great and we’ve already had several compliments from neighbors.

Good sized planters that are now filled with Petunias and add color to our deck. Each planter took 3 and a half bags of topsoil. A rolling planter base is recommended to give flexibility.

I really like these half barrels. They augment my raised gardens perfectly. I own 9 of them. I use them mostly for berries that spread so my neighbors don't have to deal with them on their side of the fence. Here I've planted rhubarb.

Poor barrel hoop bands, rust will ruin the barrel
Purchased these large good looking barrels over a year ago. They done a good job so far to notice they the hoop bands rusted and snapped on one of the barrels!
What a shame, such a good product with poor hoop bands.
My wife is a pro in gardening, never over waters or under water the plants so idea that maybe there was to much water causing the bands to rust doesn't fly. The barrel is place in the patio and here in Anaheim is not much rain to be blamed for rust.
SAVE YOUR MONEY and buy ceramic even a little more expensive. The manufacturer could at least galvanize the bands to help protecting against rust.

The first time I went to pick these up from an online order, I got some that were rusted and busted. I had to wait a long time to actually be able to purchase the right ones. When I got them home I realized that some of the inside was busted as well. The bottom of one of them broke completely after placing it in my garden without any obstructions. They look really nice but the quality is not what it should be. Especially not for the price. I'm happy that I ended up getting $30 off my order of three.

It is a nice size and as long as you don't have to move it after filling it, I think it is fine. The individual boards are loose - not really attached to the metal bands very well and the bottom cross pieces (underneath the planter) are not very sturdy. I like the look and will keep it and use it to plant potatoes in, because once it is filled with soil, I will not be moving it so I won't risk it coming apart.

Perfect for my 'SALSA' garden
I've always wanted to try an edible garden. I was advised to start small and grow what you like to eat. I saw this herb garden example (w/ tomato plant in center) in a Home Depot Store and figured it was my 'speed'. I just love the barrel's look and the quality is good. Also purchased a wheeled platform w/ drip pan to move it and protect deck. My husband likes it so much he suggested we get another!!! whoo hoo! The plants are growing soooo well - I think I'll take him up on the offer and thin the plants out. Really like it!

Excelent Product
I purchased two of these planters to use as drink holders for parties, the metal tubs fit perfectly inside and makes for a great look. In the future I may actually use them for what they were intended but for now I will enjoy them during parties.

Perfect for the Deck!!
I ordered these online to be picked up at the store. It was easy and when I arrived at the store and saw the two I had ordered, I bought two more while I was there! They were a little bigger than I expected, but that was good, because they were perfect for on the deck and along side of the steps up to the deck (I stacked one on top of an inverted barrel). I love these barrels; they are so much nicer than the smaller wooden planter pots I had last year!
