For the price, these shelves are good quality. I appreciated that the back to the shelves was plywood, not cardboard. Pretty easy to put together but best to have two people.

I ordered white and got unpainted, but otherwise the bookcase was as described.A good piece of furniture at a reasonable price

Perfect! I bought 2 of these bookcases. Well worth the cost. Very sturdy shelves with no particle board! The backing is a little flimsy and is probably the hardest part to assemble. Would buy again!

Yes, I know it is not environmentally friendly, or politically correct, but it is SO refreshing to work with solid wood once again. I had almost forgotten how nice a medium it is to work with. The bookcase went together just fine and took a combination stain/sealer (I purchased the unfinished unit) with no issues. Real screws hold it all together, unlike the less reliable "cam-lock" hardware used on many Chinese pieces. In fact, the hardware package was up to "American" quality. Perhaps because they originated as abandoned, scrapped American armaments? In any case,this bookcase is a great buy for the money.

Honestly, if you want a solid wooden bookshelf this may be the best bang for your buck. The staining and polyurethane was done very nicely, and the wood that was chosen was above average and nicer than I honestly expected it to be. Holes, screws, and other hardware lined up as they should and I had it put together within an hour. Only advice I would give future owners is that on the back of the shelf they want you to just blatantly screw in panhead screws to hold in the veneer backing. Do yourself a favor and pre-drill your holes because there is a chance you could slit the wood like I almost did. It's very nice pine lumber, but it's still pine. I will most likely be buying other products from these guys.

Exactly what I was looking for!

The bookcase arrived promptly. The assembly was not difficult after you figure out the instructions. Wish the boards were marked A,B,C etc. There were dents on the shelves that we did not notice until we were almost done assembling the bookcase. Also, we have no flexibility with the spacing. Could not fit a school textbook or a binder. Good for small books like novels or storybooks. We actually wanted to order two more but after we saw the quality, we wanted to try something else. I wouldn't recommend this product.

Quality wood, milled to exact tolerances. Instructions were brief but easy to interpret from the drawings, for even a novice like me.

Finding real wood products at a decent price and such good quality is few and far between. I love my book cases.

good bookcase of real wood but the middle shelf does not move so if you have a bunch of hardcover books you only get 3 functional shelves with 1 for paperbacks.

I'd actually give this product a 4.5. It's solid and great quality. I opted not to assemble the back panel because it didn't look good with the stain I used on the rest of the bookcase and didn't think it was really necessary. The assembly was easy and quick - much more easy than staining and sealing. If I could have one wish, it would be that I could order it pre-stained as my staining skills are not so great.

Perfect shape and really hard wood.

Bookshelf itself is great, backing material is cheap and flimsy. I was hoping for a sturdier backing material. Will keep the product but only because it would cost too much to ship back.
