The Quality of the Wood from Alta was marginal compared to their same product I purchased 3yrs ago

Very roughly hewn. Will take a lot of stain/paint to cover these. Choose wisely. Some boards have long, brown, spongy parts to them, and many have knots that may prevent you from driving a nail or staple through. For almost $4 per board, these are pretty so-so quality. Again: Choose wisely. Look at all sides and ends.

Fine quality. Worked well for replacing a damaged plank on my fence.

The reason I purchased 2 boards was to make a rustic picture frame, and it turned out perfect and beautiful.

These pickets are nice quality and very useful in many applications.

The cedar was straight, with a little splitting along the edges. It worked perfectly for my purpose.

Split, and warped before installing. have to take 10% back.

Good looking boards, very consistent

The wood that was available had been picked through. The only wood left to choose from had problems like warping, splitting, discoloration and huge knots. It took me 30 minutes to sort through the pile of wood to find 14 boards that were somewhat usable. I will not likely be returning for cedar fence boards even though they are crucial for my own business. I will source them somewhere else.

Overall good fence pickets for replacing some that were starting to rot. They contained more knots that I would have liked, and a couple were bowed, but they flattened out more as they dried out.

Wood definitely buy again.

The quality of the word is pretty good… Although, I had to pick through quite a few boards to get what I needed.

Extremely rough cut on both sides. Can touch it without getting a splitter.

quality varies from board to board, needed to reject about half of the boards at the store.

The boards were pretty wt and had to really really pick over.

Worked fine for my application. I was relieved that HD had a 3.5-inch wide 6’ picket available. Thanks Home Depot!

Nice quality of cedar but had excessive water in side so we ended up with a fair amount of shrinking

For the price I paid and then to get it home and have it split!

Nice pickets—very few blem pieces. I was building a privacy fence with no gaps, and pressed the board together quite hard when installing, and I was surprised to see that they shrunk quite a bit after installation, around 1/8" all around. Not sure how to avoid this besides buying it and letting it sit for a few weeks outside before installing. Just a heads up.
