To begin with, there were no instructions included with the item and I couldn't find instructions on the internet. But since I've installed bathroom sink drains before, I assumed it would be like the others. Maybe I was wrong and there is a trick. I first installed it with the parts that were included and it leaked. I took it apart and tried using plumbers putty. Still leaked. I tried again with teflon tape, but there were leaks. I tried four separate installations each resulting in leaks. Finally I gave up, bought a cheaper plastic drain which I installed easily and successfully. I would return this drain if I could but since I've opened it and "used" it I can't. Save yourself the money and time and buy another.

On 10/24 in mid-morning I ordered this but discovered it was the wrong part about 6hr later. I called to cancel and was told it had already been processed. Rep said normally orders can be cancelled within 24 hr. Part was returned but shipping both ways deducted from refund. Fortunately, having found my original purchase paperwork on the 10+ years old faucet I was able to get the right part free of charge under warranty. American Standard products are long lasting and they stand behind their products. Just make sure you are ordering the right product.

The build is not as good as the original: thinner metal and the thread is not deep. The quality of American Standard product is not good any more.

I was cleaning the sink a few weeks after plumbers installed my new American Standard Chatfield faucet set when the metal drain cover ring just slid right off. Turns out that the drain assembly that comes with the faucet set made for HD is plastic and the metal ring is glued on but can break off. The faucet is, of course, now discontinued (even though it bought it just 2 months ago!) so I could not get a replacement drain through American Standard. But their customer service said it was available through Home Depot and AM would reimburse me. That worked out fine and the good news is that the replacement drain is all metal. Apparently they cheap out on the HD model so it can be sold for less. My plumbers told me this is common when you buy at HD. Who knew!

The quality of this item was beyond my expectations. But, after buying your faucet, we found that we didn't need an extra metal drain, as the faucet came with one already. It was cheerfully refunded by your customer service. I will recommend your products to my family and friends.

The drain was well made by American Standard. Would definitely buy this again. It’s made of metal. I bought a plastic drain made by another company and it broke soon after it was installed. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra on metal.

This is a great drain kit. Buy it and don't use plastic ones. This looks better and will last much longer.

Everything was included in this drain assembly, easily replaced my existing drain which after many years of service plating came off, I recommend this product if your old faucet is also Brushed Nickel.
