Heating element won’t bring to temp (I modified to add charcoal also) and paint flaked off after second use.

great design , i had an issue with the base being used as a grill.The lid was to close to the food .

Well made, much improved over the models made years ago...

This is a solid performer for the price. This is our second one, and the first one lasted many years. It would probably still be with us if we hadn't let it get rained on a few times, but we keep it in an outdoor shed, and thus humidity would eventually rust it out anyway. It could use better venting on the bottom. Right now we don't have the electric element installed, and air can enter somewhat through the opening designed for the element. Not sure how it will circulate air if we get the electric element. Only other annoyance is that the main chamber is not perfectly round, staying distorted at the side joint no matter how much I try to reshape it. Our last one had the same issue. It still works fine; it just takes a little fiddling to get it seated in the base. One caveat: don't put water into the pan and then try to mount it on the base. The fiddling it requires often causes water to slosh into the fire. Just carefully fill it through the door after seating the main chamber on the base. Of course, the irregularity in the roundness of the main chamber also necessitates more fiddling to get the top on securely. But for the money, we came back to this model for a second round.

Grill was easy to assemble and the first cooking was an extreme success! Don’t know why I had put off ordering one sooner. Our old Brinkman that we had used for years was beyond useable! Great product and will always recommend to anyone looking for this type smoker! You’ve found a lifetime buyer!

We were excited to receive the grille! When we put it together we found out that a screw and bolt were missing which was disappointing. We will have to go to the store to get the needed parts.

I've used this twice now and it works very well. The metal is somewhat thin but it was a cinch to assemble. That said, let's get back to the cooking. I strongly suggest getting a probe thermometer for both the ambient temp and the food temp. Forget the dial thermometer that comes with it, it's completely useless. The first time (45 degrees, no wind) I used the suggested amount of charcoal and the ambient temp was easily 100-125 degrees higher than I was intending (225). Today (55 and 10mph winds) I used 1/3 of the recommended charcoal and I stayed between 225 and 240 depending on how I played with the upper vent holes. The unit works very well and stays fairly consistent during the burn but you cannot set it and forget it; you'll be sorry. I added charcoal, more apple chunks and water about 3 1/2 hours in and used the window slide provided. That didn't affect the temps very much either. I really enjoy this convenient little smoker. I do keep it covered and hope it lasts at least a couple years. You really can't beat the price.

we’ve only used it once so we are still trying to get the hang of it, however the smoking worked perfectly for the pork loin. the ribs were really good, however they were falling off the bone. I think that was the cookee not the cooker.
