My wife wanted a storm door as the home we purchased didn't have one. We selected the Anderson 3000 Series with retractable screen. We usually call "the guy", but after watching a couple of videos online, my wife was certain we would do this job. Anderson refers to this model as easy to install in 45 minutes. While it may have taken us a little longer than 45 minutes, we got the job done. And, the door works like a charm. The only "assembly" is screwing in a whole lot of screws and putting on the hardware which is the handle and the closer. The instructions suggest a screwdriver. I would suggest a power drill with screwdriver attachment. The installation kit even comes with the 1/8" drill bit. The door comes already attached to the frame. You literally lift it out of the box and put it into place. A few good hits with my hand on all four corners had the door firmly in place. If you have one, you could probably use a rubber mallet. The rest is simply getting all the screws in tight. The instructions also suggest installing the door handle with the handle up, we found this to be a fail and placed the handle in the normal (horizontal) position when we installed the door handle. The last step was to install the door closer, which again wasn't a big deal. Placing the trim along the the sides was a bit tricky, but once I figured you put one edge in and then press hard as you slide down the trim, it locked into place fairly easily. I'm 63 and never installed a storm door. I usually call, "the guy". You can do this!

It took 2 experienced men 1 hour and 5 minutes to install. Door is perfect and I'm very happy with the purchase. Would highly recommend.

The Andersen 3000 storm door is a good looking door. Installation was not hard. But not just a 45 min process. If I were to install the same door again, I could probably do it in 45 min. Then there's the time to install the lockset as well. The built-in screen function on the top panel of glass is great. I enjoy being able to have the option to just have clear glass to view thru or pull down the top panel and have a screen to keep the bugs out and allow for air flow. Then raise the panel again and the screen retracts back into the top of the door frame. The self closure works well. My problem with this door is this, the top glass panel doesn't seal well at all. Air, be it hot or cold comes in around the top panel. I can see daylight between the panel and the center bar of the door that divides the door in half and separates the 2 panel of glass. If we get a breeze or wind, it come right in all around the upper panel. The door itself seals ok in the door frame. We purchased and installed the door 2 weeks ago. I give it 3.5 stars. I would give 5 stars if the door wasn't so drafty.

Hadn’t put one in in 20 years. I was amazed at how easy it was to put in. I kept waiting for a snag but there was none. Instructions were pretty useful. And BTW, the door itself is beautiful

Installed and less than 24 hours later the sliding glass became dislodged and couldnt operate anymore. The HD sales associate was very accomodating and replaced the door for me. The new door is missing 2 pre drilled screw holes on the left side. Not the biggest issue but quality control sure is lacking

I purchased two of these doors recently and had them installed 3/1. Well on 3/20 I am showing a friend how they work and when I retract the window to the screen the entire window comes off the track and I now have an off kilter screen with a gap and window I can't get back up. Andersons response is to send me a new panel to install myself. Sure this will be easy. The second door also has an issue with the track but has not affected the performance as of yet

I had the same problem as the other gentleman did with the wind problem. I left my house at 5:15 am for work and and not too long after that my camera alerts starting going off. Didn't think anything of it since neighbors go to work. Well it kept going off so when I check, I saw my storm swinging open and heard the creaking of the hinges every time it moved. The funny part is that the storm door is rarely used. I go outside via my attached garage. If it's used, it's a delivery person putting something inside the door or when my grandkids come over. The dilemma now is that my door has come out of the wood & my closer was so bent that I had to remove it in order to get the door to shut. The door was professionally installed (not by Home Depot) by a company I hired to install both the storm door and and exterior door I purchased. I need purchase a new closer for the door, which I can't the exact one to replace it & pay someone to secure my door back in!

After 5 years aluminum rotted away from both inside and outside of door. Had.to replace both doors House is in subdivision. Not exposed to any harsh elements. One door is under Eve

I am very happy with this door, I am enjoying the half window screen which is self contained in the unit. I selected the brass handles which I think adds to the appearance of the door. Install only took an hour, not done by me but by handy men who recommended this particular door and helped me in placing the order for a reasonably priced door.

Beautiful door, well engineered and solid. We love the pull down screen and self storing glass, especially how air tight it is when the glass is up,

the door is amazing. feels that it is well made and not cheap. the glass is beautiful and the fact that you can pull the top glass down with a screen already there is wonderful. the install was fairly easy! I'm no handy man and I never installed a storm door before. however, after reading the instructions. making some mistakes, I was able to finish and it looks wonderful. the down side is for almost 300$ you would think that the handle is included. you have to pay another 70$ tax for the handle alone. which is why I gave it a 4 star!

I was told by the door and windows associate Joe that this door would self close and seal every time. It was so much better then the old doors that wind and rain could still get through. and Then he said if I had Homedepot install the door they would guaranty the proper operation. The installed the door 9/25/2020...He did say that I would need to pull the glass part of the door down just a little when it rained or to insure it self close. I did like the door very much so I ordered another for the back door 10/2/2020 . when Don came back to install the back door he didn't show me anything about the door, I'm guessing because this was my second door and this time he left all my paperwork in the cardboard box they left on my lawn. No goodbye , nothing. Then I noticed my that the first storm door wasn't latching 11/24/2020 because the little bit of wind was setting off my doorbell alarm but I wasn't home and made a note to memory I would need to call homedepot and have them come out and look at it. Well we had a Crazy wind storm 11/26/2020 that took the storm door so hard that it broke it's hinge. I call Homedepot the very next day because we lost power to. they sent Don back out 1/14/2021, I have him on my doorbell video taking a picture and saying ( The wind took the door so hard it broke the hinge. Then he walked around to the other door still on video that shows that he had to push that stormdoor closed. I didn't even know that door wasn't closing properly until I saw him on video. I called 1/15/2021 and talked to Joe he said He hadn't talked to Don yet and would call me back. Joe never called me back. I called 1/20/2021 and he wasn't there, I was told to call back. I called 1/25/2021 and 1/27/2021 . Finally I talked with Joe and he said that the didn't cover wind. I told him the door was not operating properly and thats why the wind took it. he told me to call Anderson. I did that and talked to Dominic and She told me the same thing. SO BUYER BEWARE THAT THIS STORMDOOR IS NOT A SELF CLOSING DOOR IF YOU HAVE YOUR HOUSE DOOR CLOSED.

Well made door. Instructions were clear and complete.

Purchased 2 of these doors and both have a sagging problem after removing plastic mounting brace. Without moving frame out of square there is no way to remedy..

I love this storm door! I have an antique solid wood front door with a stained glass sunflower in it, so I needed a storm door that would not diminish the look of my front door. The Andersen 3000 is the perfect door.

The idea behind this door is fabulous; it let's in plenty of light, and the screen is out of sight when not in use. Installation took a few frustrating hours, but wasn't particularly complicated. The VERY FIRST time we rolled the screen down, it ripped out of the side track. I called Andersen, expecting them to replace the door, since it was brand new and flawed, and was told that they would only send a replacement screen, which WE would have to install. After spending almost 300 dollars, I was hoping for better service. We have now had the door for just over three years, and the connection point where the hydraulic soft-close shock just broke off. We bought the door because Andersen seemed to have a great reputation, but this has been frustrating and disappointing from the start! Hopefully Home Depot will replace the door for us, since Andersen has been useless.

Storm door does not seal. Leaves a gap in the lower third of the handle side of the door.

I love this storm door with retractable upper screen! My only issue & reason I gave 4 stars is the track for the retractable screen is very loos at the bottom. If that was more secure I wouldn't hesitate to give this 5 stars. The installation was very simple. It installs securely & is water tight (I used caulking around edges before installing) The bottom & top on the inside have plates that can be adjusted to have it flush with no gaps. The screen operates very nicely & the screen is stretched nice & tight. It has a heavy-duty steel, push-button closer that allows you to prop the door open with just your foot & a simple push on the door will unlock the closer & let the door shut (I love this feature when grilling on the deck & my hands are full). The glass is thermally tempered safety glass & is stronger and safer than regular glass; if broken the glass breaks into pebbles instead of sharp pieces (this is nice piece of mind for those of us that have kids & pets). The felt around the edges where the door closes is thick & helps keep bugs, debris & water from getting inside. So, not only do I recommend & give this 4 stars, I will get another for my front door.

Our contractor installed this. It took almost 3 hours. Immediately the spring thing broke and the hardware has to be Andersen brand and the only handles they offer are ugly. Nothing modern or remotely contemporary. I will be contacting the company about the broken parts but my contractor is buying a different brand to replace it, one that isn’t plastic. Honestly, I expected A LOT better for the price!

Love my door. Read and follow the instructions as you install. Call the 800 number if you get stuck. Did have to remove some trim to have it fit so took about 2.5 hours to install. Love that the screen is revealed only as you drop the top half of glass. Just rolls right down. Otherwise, just clear glass. Foot button to keep open has also been helpful.

I am extremely happy w my new storm door. I had it professionally installed. I went w this door because the holes were already done. It cost more but it made the installation much easier.

It had a 45 minute advertised install time. That would have been possible with two people and everything needed already gathered and staged. One of the spacer clips was broken on arrival making alignment difficult (adding alignment time),.The door is slightly off kilter and doesn't line up with the frame perfectly and the corners have gaps in the weather-stripping. I was expecting better for the price.

The installation was going great until we got to the closing mechanism. Per the instructions, you attach the bracket to the door by the pre-drilled holes. Our door did not have any holes pre-drilled. We tried to call the support center and after getting hung up on twice, the third representative argued that you have to drill the holes yourself. We said fine we will do it but need the measurements as to where to drill. He just told us to close the door and put the mechanism up to the door and drill. That was his solution. We asked to speak to a manager and of course non available. We ended up going back to the store and getting the measurements from the display model. If we had listened to the customer service rep we would have drilled in the wrong place and then I am sure Andersen wouldn't have done anything about it. Their quality control needs some work. Now that it is all installed, it looks great. I am hoping to have no other issues going forward.

We bought this door due to it's built in screen feature and that it was an Anderson, a name we've grown to trust for quality. Unfortunately, the design of this door is lacking in that department. The door has a nice, solidly built aluminum frame EXCEPT the track that holds the sliding screen. It's plastic. A week after having this installed through Home Depot along with a new entry door, I noticed the track was warping due to heat build up between the interior and storm doors. We made a point to mention that to the salesman at the store and he assured us there would be no issues. Our house faces the sun all day, therefore it heats up. Our original, 20 year old screen door, never had any issues. I would think Anderson quality control would test these for temperature issues but apparently not. As a side note, the salesman also assured us that the new, composite front door would also stay cooler than our old steel one. Well, that wasn't true either. The entry door heats up just as much and it smells from the heat "cooking" the composite material. The door itself appears to be ok so far. It just smells like it's melting. I contacted Anderson and they are sending me out a track and screen kit but definitely NOT something I should have to be doing to a week old screen door.

This door looks good, but functions like trash. I installed this in June, made sure the screen went up and down a few times, then left it down for months. Now here we are in September when it gets chilly, I go to pull the glass up and the screen totally rips. Haven't even slid it more than 5 times yet. Terrible quality, wish I could return.

All in all it's a good looking door, and for the most part I did get a hung in 45 minutes. However variety of things happen. The included drill bit snapped on the first use. The $55 handle said I bought looks nice but has a weird thing where I can flip it up vertically and it stays there. Even called Anderson And had somebody walk me through installing it for what was the third or fourth time. It opens and shuts, just flips vertically. Feels pretty cheap Also it has this weird thing where it is unable to close itself when the inner door is shut. I can adjust the closing mechanism so that it's slamming when the inside door is open but as soon as that interior door is shut there must be so much of a vacuum seal that too much air pressure builds up and doesn't allow the door to swing shut. At our last house I installed a Larson door for somewhere price. I remember though the handle not being strange and I was able to adjust it to close properly. Frustrated as we spent extra money for the nicest door they had

Quality product that is very easy to install. Finished product looks great with some nice features. Highly recommend for a storm door replacement.
