This is an absolute waste of money. It is cheaply made and horribly put together. Once it gets cold, the door doesn't close properly. To quote the contractor who installed it "Andersen has really gone down in quality." The customer service is also entirely useless. Do not buy this door.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn about the issue on the door. Adjusting different components of your storm door to allow for additional ventilation of the space between your storm door and entry door may reduce air and heat build-up between the two (2) doors. I’m so happy with the results the storm door blocks the draft that my front door had plus gives extra security with the lock. Plus the color of the door went well with my front facade being cranberry colored.

Door arrived ahead of schedule. It took two men to install, but installed easily. The door was supposed to have Oil-Rubbed Bronze Hardware, but came with black. It is now installed and I am not sure how to remedy this.

We are sorry for the inconvenience. However, with use, your hands will polish away the darker material finish, exposing the rich bronze beneath creating a two-tone appearance. The dark, thin protective coating over the bronze is hand-rubbed with oil to preserve the protective layer. - Charmaine AWEMCOMarketing

I love the door, BUT the side strips that hold the screen/window well are another story, I installed this door in May 2020 has the screen in and it was so nice, now that the cold winter days are here I had to change out to the window, in the process one of the side plastic strips cracked and now the window is. Ot secure on the one side, and rattles when you open an close the door not to mention allows a draft in, still trying to figure out how to get additional pieces to replace the cracked strip ... sigh

Easiest door I ever installed. As long as your measurements match it's a breeze and only takes one person. It is the most beautiful storm door I have ever owned. I paid the extra cost to special order to get the Sandtone color to match my other Andersen doors & windows. Glad I did. The stock white would have been a mistake.

      Noisy closure
The Anderson door was put in last April 2020 and the self closing mechanism is noisy. Today the top closure bracket just snapped in half and while the bottom bracket and closure arm work the door can no longer be propped open until I fix this.

        Dissatisfied
The door was moderately easy to install although it did take me longer than the advertised 45 minutes. I was appreciating the overall quality of the door while installing the final rain trim when, regrettably, I noticed a large bend defect in the frame that does not allow me to completely seal the nail rail. It’s really disappointing that I did not notice this until after I had the door installed, but It’s really an eyesore and I wish this would have been noticed in the factory.

Replacing this Door after 2 years!
We had this Full View Interchangeable door installed by Home Depot May 2018. The installer had the job done in about 20 minutes and it worked and looked beautiful. The problems began in the fall when we had to change the screen out for the glass. The retainer strips that held the screen in place were very difficult to remove and even using all the tips in the info from Andersen, including heating the strips, we broke several of them. We even went back to Home Depot and the salesperson couldn't believe how difficult they were to remove. We got the glass in and found that the sun coming through the glass on our south facing door was heating up the steel door and melting our wreath! We had to leave the interior door open to release the heat most sunny afternoons, even in subzero temps. When removing the glass, 1 corner bracket broke and another was noticed to be defective and made the glass unstable. After several calls, even to an 800 number with a person who's English was difficult to understand with roosters crowing in the background, Andersen would not help us, saying glass is only warrantied for 90 days. We will replace this door with self storing low E glass, but not an Andersen product. We bought this door because of Andersen's good reputation and are very disappointed in their customer service.

Rust within 120 days - full length door needs to be bent to fit.
Door is ok if installed in spring with just screen. Not great but ok. Trouble comes in fall when time to install full glass panel. Needs two people and even then not easy, and only after bending various surfaces so that they may fit. Not an easy task and quite frustrating. Its just as easy to manufacture a good door to spec as this crap. You will then notice the rust on the closers less that 120 days after door was installed. When you thing this piece of crap cant get any worse - you go to remove glued sticker on glass with phone number for defective parts - HA! Can only come off by scratching glass. Totally glued. Keep your sense of humor. I would like some of the reviewers for this door redo three months after door installed. All kidding aside this door is crap and downright dangerous given the twisting and bending of the glass frame. Good luck if you bought one.

The door itself was as expected for a high end storm door. So was the handle and lock hardware. Installation of the door was relatively easy, up until the installation of the door closer cylinders. After the door closers were installed the door would only open to about 45 deg, at which point the door closers bottomed out. I contacted Andersen about the problem and they sent me a new set of door closers, same as the first set and still the same problem. See the photo of the door closed and with one end of the closer pinned. The door closer mounting bracket on the door is about 2.5 inches away from the pin hole on the closer. When the closer is pinned on both ends the closer is already extended 2.5 inches with the door closed. So when the door is opened the travel is restricted and will not allow the door to open any where near 90 degrees, as it should. When paying this much for a door I should not have to do a custom remount of the door closer bracket to get the door to operate as it should.

Warning! "Oil-Rubbed Bronze" Hardware is Black
If you're hoping for a nice burnished coppery or brass color to shine though, you're going to be disappointed. From any angle under any lighting, it just looks black. Quick Install Note: Once you've measured the opening it's going in, make sure that you have at least 1 inch of space between the opening and any moldings above or to the left or right of the door frame. THE ANDERSON FRAME HAS FLANGES PROTRUDING TO THE LEFT, RIGHT, AND ABOVE THE FRAME THAT SCREW INTO THE FRONT OF YOUR HOUSE, IT DOES NOT SCREW IN FROM THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR OPENING AS SOME SCREEN/STORM DOORS DO - this is why you will need at least an inch of clearance around your YY" x ZZ" door hole. We had to rip off moldings and put back up smaller ones because this wasn't clear from the outset.

Thank you for your review to Andersen® Windows. Oil rubbed bronze is a centuries-old finish designed to simulate aged bronze. Oil rubbed bronze is a "living finish" with no protective coating. With frequent operation and use, the natural oils from your hands will polish away the dark outer finish to expose the bronze beneath, often resulting in a two-tone appearance. There is no method that will speed up the natural bronzing process. If you need further assistance, please call our Solution Center at 888-888-7020. --Megan Andersen

                    Great Door!
We installed three of these doors to replace the wooden screen doors on our 1914 farm house. The directions were very clear and easy to follow with the added advantage of access to a video for any doubts or questions. They are airtight, a plus for energy savings. It's 98 degrees out right now, so we'll see how they perform this winter when temperatures drop below zero.

Pretty good, problems with fit and finish
The most important part of instal is making sure the exterior mounting surface is plumb, if not you have to make it so before installing the door. The good: Installation is pretty straight forward, and can be done by one person. All hardware needed for instal is included with the door (except door handle). The screen and glass options are easy to switch; with that said, there is a “feel” to using the trim pieces that hold the screen/glass in place. You don’t have to push super hard, you just need to push on the correct spot on the trim to get it to snap in place. Once i figured that out, it was super easy. The bad: The automatic closers are way too strong for the screen option. After trying every “power” combo adjustment, I couldn’t get the door to close without snapping shut like a moustrap, or taking 30 seconds to close without latching. What worked for me was removing the top closer when the screen is installed. There are two corner sections of the door that weren’t painted properly, I didn’t notice until after the door was installed. It didn’t bother me enough to remove the door to return/exchange.

                          Beautiful View
My new Andersen door made a big difference to the entrance. I've always wanted a full view glass door for my first home and this is it! It was easy to install. I was afraid the Andersen handle would interfere with the other door knob but it didn't thank god. The only con I would say is that in order to have your screen in use you have to remove the whole glass frame and insert the screen, which is not of great quality. It's very thin and not sturdy enough. But overall, regarding the view, it is beautiful.

Great with glass, terrible with screen
We like the look of the full view and got it all installed with the glass in - everything was great. Then we replaced the glass with the screen. The problem is there is no brace going across the screen near the handle or at the mid of the door. So when people push the door, or it closes on them, the screen hits the person/object. So the screen gets looser and looser and has ripped in a couple places. If you plan on using the screen, as we do, I would avoid this model. I'm hoping I can find some way of attaching a mid door horizontal brace into the screen, but so far I have not been able to come up with a solution. Any ideas Anderson?

Very pleased with door after all problems solved. The 36x80 size wasn't quite long enough even with the rain cap extender at the top. I called the 1-800 storm door resolution number but they didn't have a solution. Our installer had to buy a longer bottom door sweep at Home Depot. He unscrewed and removed the sweep that came with the door and screwed on the longer sweep to the bottom of the inside of the door to prevent rain and bugs from getting into the house from under the door.

Avoid this door if you plan to use the screen and water will get in.
I bought this door in 2016 and we use the screen door every summer/spring. Fall and Winter, we put the glass back on. Rain does get in during heavy downpours as I do not have an awning but it doesn't get soaking wet all the time. This is a picture of the hinge which rusted and snapped off on the bottom closer, no issues on the upper closer. This is the 2nd hinge that broke in the 4 years I've owned this. I will soon be out of my 5 year warranty at which point I'd have to pay for parts and shipping. Their customer service told me that rust is typically not covered but they are doing this as courtesy. They also told me all warranty related items cost $8 for shipping after the first year. At which i was frustrated because, they have made a part that gets rusted when wet, so i have a screen door and when it rains, water will get to it. And now I have to pay shipping and for the part constantly over the next few years of ownership becuase this thing will definitely snap off in the future. So Stay away from this product.

It is strongly recommended to maintain the appearance of your storm door with periodic washing and cleaning. Regular cleaning with a mild soap and water solution is even more important if you live in an area with industrial pollutants or high concentrations of salty air. This is to prevent hardware rust which may result from the presence of airborne chemicals. We are sorry but rusting is not considered a manufacturing defect and is not covered under the Limited Warranty. - Charmaine AWEMCOMarketing
