Arrived broken, yours like will too.
There are brittle plastic covers on the top and bottom of the screen reels that have no support in the packaging, and so of course both cracked. The manual that said "If you have a problem please do not return, call this number (844) 813-6664" Well let me save you 30 minutes of your day, the call center answering that phone number will insist you called the wrong number and transfer you on hold for another 30 minutes where you must surrender personal information before a model number. 👎👎👎

    What a joke.
There is no way possible this door is going to make it to your house undamaged. The packaging is awful, both doors were broken and had large sections of scraped paint. On top of that if you call the number literally printed on the box that demands you reach out to Anderson instead of taking it back to the store you will wait on hold for over 15 minutes to be told you called the wrong number, transferred to another person, then asked for information before being transferred again.

        Constantly Breaks
The door broke within weeks of installation. I needed to contact Anderson directly regarding the broken door. They were very difficult to deal with and took a long time to get a response from. They sent a replacement part for the side that was not working properly. That replacement part broke as well. They then said it was an issue with the installation. We had the door reinstalled according to their new directions. The door then broke again. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

This screen door looks great and fits well
Installation was a breeze. I was done in 90 minutes, including the time it took my partner to come over and hold one end while I attached the other. Build quality looks good. Instructions were clear. Alignment was easy. I don’t know why some reviews were low….. you just need to know how to install things. On a difficulty scale of 1 to 5, this was a 2. And it works smoothly.

Instructions were a bit convoluted and did not match the video instructions AT ALL. More importantly, of the two I purchased one was clearly a repack. The orange tabs holding the screens in place were not attached and broken. One of the screen door tabs that aligns the door in the track was completely snapped off, it seemed to assemble properly but time will yell (am noticing the doors do not close freely as they should, and the screens bunch up). Overall, I'm underwhelmed given the cost.

Cons: Door frame doesn’t seem very strong. The screening on the passive door side comes out of the track when retracting it and you need to hold passive side snug when closing active side. Active side works better. The screening is flimsy and easily comes out of track but so far when closing, goes back in track. I would not recommend this for homes that have small children or pets because with a slight push, the screening comes out of the track. Pros: Looks nice when closed however, disappointed in the product and does not meet our expectations.

Worst product. Great concept but just not functional. The retractable screen binds, wrinkles and than creases. This fault creates a screen that is now not retracting straight and renders the doors slow opening or not opening at all. i went back and forth with Andersen directly, received replacement screens and they all had the same fault. After 4 months of adjusting and many days of being upset over the faulty operation i have called HD for a refund. Andersen also told me there are no options for a technician to come and verify install. awful Andersen experience. HD should evaluate if this product is worth the bad press. I'm an experienced installer and custom cabinet maker and could not get this product to work. Very disappointed.

The addition of the screen has elevated my front door from a good looking entry way, to a practical use entry way. It provides me an ability to add a screen on a double hung door that is as practical as teh double hung door is. Open one side or both sides, the practicality is added to the ability to just leave it open. There are few times when the screen door is in use. When I need it it is ther. In day to day use, it is hidden and out of the way. The assembly adds a framing to the main door as well. we really like its looks and practicality and see this as a very smart purchase.

This is a great screen door, especially considering the price. The door really looks great has a fairly low-profile over our double entry door. I have two small issues: 1. Our cats were able to very easily push their way through the screen. Since the screen rolls into the cartridge, it's not attached to a firm frame, but rather slides through tracks on the top and bottom. This is fine, except our two medium cats quickly learns they could just push the screen out of the track and go outside. Luckily, when you open the screen, it goes right back into the track neatly. Nonetheless, I would not recommend this door if you need to keep cats in or out. 2. The door stays closed when the two handles come together and latch. This latching is not very smooth, and sometimes takes a few tries or a less-than-gentle push to get it to stay closed. I'm hoping this can be adjusted. Some tips: Definitely put something soft and thick on the ground like a moving blanket. I used a tarp over the concrete driveway and still managed to make a very small nick in the finish. Watch the installation video on the Anderson web site. Take your time! Read ALL the instructions repeatedly. My door jam width was slightly smaller than what was listed in the Home Depot site, but the Anderson site said that it would fit, but an easy cut to the tracks were required. This was quick and easy. (But always measure twice and cut once!) I am very happy with this purchase!

We had screen doors priced out for our French doors and some local companies were over two grand. We found these thanks to the help of the windows dept over the phone. I’m not going to lie, they were a bit of a pain in the a * * because our house is old, and the doors are 77.5 inches, not 80. We mounted it outside the frame, but had to remove stucco in order for it to fit flush. It was worth it! They look great, the main door retracts on its own nice and slow when you unclick the latch, and the other side is a little stiff to open/close, but we don’t use that side. I probably wouldn’t use these with guests over, because they seem a little finicky. I bought them to air out the house without bugs getting in, so they work great for me. I love them for the price.

Assembly instructions are just a little confusing, MAKE SURE you take your time to read them thoroughly. I can typically put things together without the instructions, but if you don't match up the pieces as directed, you'll double your assembly time. Fortunately, I re-read them several times, and avoided the mistakes. I bought the 68" version, and I was lucky enough not to have to make any adjustments, it fit perfectly in my doorway. The only reason why I took 1 star off the rating is the Passive door catches every time I pull on it. If you don't pull it EXACTLY level, the top or bottom (or both) will catch the track, and it drags. I've tried adjusting it, with no luck. Other than that, we love it, and can't wait for the right weather to use it!

The good: Reasonably priced (although I'm a little ticked they dropped it by 10% before mine even arrived) HD predicted a month lead time, it arrived in less than two weeks. Not terribly difficult to install (although I highly recommend a helper to carry it, it's awkward by yourself) Very, very transparent. Almost too much (see my other thoughts below). The bad: The whole thing is only held in by 6 screws - 3 on each side. While that's enough to hold it in place, there are none anchoring the upper and lower track pieces at all, which means they're very flexible. If someone were to kick that lower track while walking though the doorway, I'm sure he could bend it. It's not very stout. I'm trying to think of some way to anchor both the upper and lower tracks without the possibility of interfering with the operation. I think if I were to just drive some screws through them, it'd cause problems with the two sides sliding over the screw heads. The way this thing works, the passive side latches into the tracks at both it's top and bottom, in both the extended and retracted positions. So extending or retracting starts with pushing up or down on the little lever contained within the handle to release the latches, then you slide it, then it latches again in it's new position. That's all well and good, but it doesn't work smoothly, you often have to fiddle with it, both when releasing the latches and then when latching again in the new position. I noticed that in particular, when extending to the center, often either the top or the bottom will latch into the track, but not both. Extending it aggressively seems to work, too, more or less slamming it into the stops. The active side however doesn't latch to the track, it latches to the passive side, so making sure the passive side is properly latched in the middle is important. It seems like this whole mechanism should be designed to work smoothly without having to monkey around with it or be aggressive. Other thoughts: My opening was 73 inches wide by 80-5/8 inches high. The height was no problem, but to get the opening down to the 72 inch maximum of the screen door, I added a 1x1 inch wood dowel door frame on the passive side. It really wasn't any problem to do this and it worked out fine. See the attached pic, I just screwed the 1x1 onto the door frame, painted it white to match, and attached the screen door to it. In contrast to the clumsiness of the passive side's latching mechanism, the active side works well. It does not latch to anything when in it's fully retracted position. In it's extended position, it latches to the passive side. That whole operation works smoothly and painlessly. Which is good, because that's the one that gets used the most. One unanticipated issue I ran into is that my dogs can't see the screen. Both have run into it, amazingly without any serious damage to either the screen or the dogs. One hit it so hard that the center latch let go and the active screen retracted hard. Scared that poor little dog to death. After that incident, I put a strip of white duct tape across each screen at their eye level. You can see it in the pictures. So far, so good, no more accidents. The tape doesn't interfere with the retract and extend so long as I offset the inside and outside pieces vertically from each other, as shown. Re: the complaints of the screen being flimsy, well, it kind of comes with the territory when you're talking about a retractable. It's not like a regular screen that's held tight into a frame on all four sides. All you have here is a frame on one side of the screen material and a spring loaded retract mechanism on the other side, there's nothing holding it tight in the vertical direction at all. So sure, the screen isn't going to be real tight the way it is on a framed screen. In fact it'll look downright baggy unless and until you adjust the track stops correctly, such that the handle side sits perfectly vertical when the screen is extended. But even then, expect loose areas in the screen. Bottom line, it's working and doing the job, and it didn't cost a whole lot, and it looks pretty good. So overall I'm happy with it. But there's room for improvement in the design. The tracks need to be anchored so they're not so flimsy, and that passive side's latching setup should be redesigned to be smooth and easy. If they did both of those things, it'd be five stars all day long.

I looked at several manufacturers of these screens and I had purchased and installed one from another manufacturer at my 2nd home and was very dissatisfied. I decided to purchase the Anderson screen system for two sets of double doors at my house and they are fantastic. I read a couple of reviews that said it took a long time to install or they had issues and I can't figure out why. It took me 40 min to install the first one and 30 min to install the second one ( I took a lot of breaks ) lol. They work great and are adjustable for your opening size and you can adjust the drag so they close slowly and don't slam. You can lock the fixed panel if and only open one side for easy entry or exit and they are reversable for RH or LH entries.

                        Nice product. Needs better instruction.
I ordered this to replace my old one made by Phantom. The installation manual is very confusing. They should just label everything with different letters like A, B, C, D and so on. Instead, it describes items as Active A/C and passive A/C. So be sure to figure out the instructions first before cutting anything. Once I figured out everything, installation is not difficult at all. The quality seems to be better than my old one. Now I'll order one more for another door.

We ordered 2 of these and both came broken out of the package. It definitely seemed like a packaging issue and the manufacturer should address this.
