They are very solid. We coil them up while the water is still on so it makes it easier. The fittings do not leak and the brass is thick. I've purchased hoses before that the metal (not brass) was thin, cross threaded easily, and leaked. These are thick brass and go right on. The hose will kink if you dont twist them a bit while coiling or uncoiling, but not as bad as other hoses I've used. All in all very well made.
I made 2 hose reels on posts to hold these hoses for my wife to use when watering her flower beds. I purchased white fence posts and painted them with bronze metalic rustoleum. I "washed" the bronze with flat black paint to make it look antique. The hose reels were painted that way when we purchased them. I wanted the red rubber hoses for that antique look.
