It seems more durable as rubber based than foam based. Once you peel off the tape, it is very sticky, so make sure you get proper placement, otherwise hard to pull apart. I used it as a overhead rail protection from head bumps, etc.

Extemely easy to attach to pipes because of the provided slit in the length of the tube and the self adhesive along the slit. Only had to cut the necessary length and apply insulation to pipe. Super easy and effective. Didn't need to apply gooey adhesive after trying to cut an even slit down the length. Already done for you. No clean up. Overall quick and easy.
