This was a great product. I wanted to refinish a towel rack in this early american color and it came out beautiful. I lightly sanded & cleaned but kept a portion of the old color since this product is transparent. It mixed well and easily enough. It brushed on very smoothly & the transparent quality give a very distinctive look to the finished product. It dries fairly fast fast & also cleans up with water & soap. You do have to add a clean finish application since this is only a stain color & not a combination stain & finish.

This is water based non-oil based stain. It cleans up with water, no thinner etc needed. Stain applies just like any other stain, can be reworked up to 48 hours after application, unlike oil based ones. No noticeable odor unlike oil based, safer to use, non-flammable too. Applies just like oil based stain, looks the same when applied. Transparent stain lets more of the base wood show through then pigment stain, easier to see wood grain. The can has a rubber/plastic bottom to prevent rusting etc. Can is metal with metal lid. I have used this type of stain for years and swear by it. Shade is dark reddish brown, not a light stain

This is a great product if you just want to give your wood a light coat of wash. It is easy to use and the low fumes is great for an indoor project.Great shabby chic look.Great for barn wood, ship lap or even all those new pallet wood projects. Really shows the true grain of the wood. This White Wash would also be great for showing off birch or other light wood. Finish looks nice.

Finally!! Behr brings a WATER BASED stain that is easy to use on many levels! Easy for application. Easy and fast drying. Easy to clean up afterwards! This Dark Walnut color is perfect for the quick touch up jobs that I have on the well used kitchen cabinets. Apply additional coats to darken the color as absorption is determined by the type of wood that you are applying it to. The application was very easy and the dry time, around a half an hour or so, made my job super easy! With over 12 available colors to choose from I'm not exactly sure why you would want to use any other kind of stains.

This stain is easy to apply, has a great finish and dries quickly. I like that it's water based so it's easy to clean up & doesn't have a strong odor. I used it to stain a leftover section of a red oak project panel. I used two coats and am very pleased with the color & the amount of grain that shows through. I plan on painting coordinates over it with white farmhouse paint & it should have just the right amount of contrast. Really pleased with it!

I have used stain for many years to make plaques for Boy Scouts. I have found that I enjoy doing these in different colors and levels of transparency. Something that I have been challenged with is how many coats. This stain, I had to still use more than one coat, but it took 3 coats. I wasn't happy but the end result was something to feel good about. It would have been nice to have a clear coat built in as you should do that after the stain is to the level you want. I found this stain to have to take a third coat when putting it on. It may have to do with needing it dark.

I usually use oil base stains, so I was a bit apprehensive to use this on one of my products. I will tell you that all of the worries I had went right out the window. This stain give you a nice even coat and actually seeps into the wood very nice. What I like about it is that it's a bit forgiving. It will actually allow you to put it on with a brush if you want, and wipe it off leaving a nice rich, even coat every time. Not to mention, you dont have the smell or the nightmare of cleaning it off you hands. Great stuff!!!

I have a very old dresser and I do not want to get rid of it because it is solid wood with beautiful lines but it also needs some repairs. I want to stain it with a transparent expresso stain. I hope you can see the little bit I did in the picture below. I just did a little bit as a test. The stain will be perfect as it shows the grain of the wood. So easy to clean up the brush etc with soap and water. It dries quickly so I am looking forward to completing this project and make this dresser beautiful again

BEHR 1 QT. #TIS-516 EARLY AMERICAN TRANSPARENT WATER-BASED FAST DRYING INTERIOR WOOD STAIN Is a super quality product from a great company. Behr products are always top notch and this interior stain is no different. The stain comes In an easy to open quart container and is transparent yet brownish tint. It goes on smoothly and comes out well once finished. Dries quickly and the Early American finish is classy and conservative.

This stain wasn’t really what I was looking for, but it might work well for what you want. First off, I know the name is Expresso, which would imply blackish, but the color on the can shows a dark brown (what I was looking for). Second, the stain did not seem to really penetrate the wood, perhaps that is why it is called transparent. In my picture you see a test board that has three levels of color on it. On the left, I immediately wiped off the stain. In the middle, I left the stain on for five minutes, then wiped it off. On the right, I left the stain on for 15 minutes, and then wiped it off. It did wash up with soap and water well, which is nice.

i am using this Behr clear gray to accent some shelving. i like how easy this applies and how well it dries. Being water based the clean up is very easy and quick. i real happy with the color of the gray addind accents to the wood grain as applied. There wee so many colors to choose from i like that. Plus Behr is a name I trust. definitely recommend.

The water base is easy to clean up an d the resilience is great.i really like the color change once I applied the stain. I also noticed a decent amount of coverage when applied. There are so many Behr stains to choose from which i like. So my options are limitless in my product designing. just love these products.

We tested out several different Behr stains to determine which one would best fit our needs in our house. Out of the four different stain colors we tested, this one was definitely our favorite. The darker color gives such a classic look to the wood, and the darkness is even more pronounced in the grain, which we loved. It has a natural look while still looking well put together. We can't wait to use it in our home. The dry time on this stain is awesome. About 20 minutes time and our tester wood was completely dry. The product states that it only takes one coat for complete coverage, and that is true! Love the time saving that comes with using this product. Highly recommend!

Like other Behr products we have used, this wood stain is definitely fast drying. It took about 20 minutes to completely dry, which is less time than even the product itself states. The only gripe I have about this stain is that it had an unexpected gray hue on some parts of the wood, particularly on the ends of the tester wood we were working with. Perhaps I didn't mix up the stain enough, but this is definitely something to consider if you are choosing this stain. With that said, the overall color, as shown in the image, is one that we were pretty pleased with and could work well in many different areas of our home. For the price & quality, I would recommend this product.

I have mixed feelings about writing this review, because I'm not sure how much is the "fault" of the product, or how much is me not understanding what "whitewash pickling" is supposed to be. I do have a lot of experience with staining, but in other, darker "colors." Pros: The product had not separated in the can (did not require extensive mixing, then waiting for it to settle), and was easy to apply. It dries quickly (but not so fast that you can't work with it), and does not leave any "sheen." Cons: I expected "whitewash" to be more white. It does look white in the can, but once applied, it is still pretty much clear. After three coats, I'd say that it's still pretty much clear with barely a hint of white. Maybe that's what "white wash pickling" is supposed to be? I myself was expecting more of a white tint to it. Overall, if you're expecting something that's pretty much clear with only a tiny tinge of white after multiple coats, this will be perfect. If you're looking for something that will actually make the wood look "whitish," this is not a good choice. That said, I did like the texture and working with the product, so I would recommend this brand of stain overall.

This Classic Gray Transparent Water-Based Fast Drying Interior Wood Stain was everything I had hoped for. The gray stain gave my project board a nice, subtle color to set as the background for a sign I'll be making. I used only one coat. The finish is more semi-transparent. It is more the consistency of a paint than a watery stain. It finishes with a matte, flat look. I think this will be the perfect backdrop on my creative message. As an added bonus, clean up was so easy with this water-based product.

Extremely pleased with the performance of this stain. I love water based products because they are easier to work with, and I know the cleanup is 10 times easier. I have used water based polyurethane for most of my projects, but until now, there hasn't been a decent water based stain component. My favorite thing about this stain is the dry time, next to the cleanup time of course! I can re-coat in an hour, and the timeline on my project is just much faster. The color turns out great, I can't say enough good about it. I will be purchasing only water based stains as I run out moving forward!

I have been using Home Depots line of BEHR paint products for years and have never been disappointed. The color of this Dark Walnut water based fast drying stain looks really nice and spreads evenly and easily. I really like the fact that it has a stain. The price seems to be competitive when compared to other stain products but the fact that it is a Home Depot brand makes me trust it more than others.

This water based wood stain by Behr was super easy to use and covered my red oak stair treads and risers without any difficulty. After staining, I covered them with several coats of water based poly to complete the project. Water based products dry so much faster and I think have a harder finish to boot. Highly recommend this for your home projects as well.

The Behr water based wood stain in Dark Walnut(B4502) is of the best quality for most staining applications. The water based formula offers a more forgiving application and cleanup due to the soap and water clean up as opposed to the oil-based formulas, that require mineral spirits or paint thinner. The water based formula also offers significantly less odor than oil based. so unless you are a professional woodworker that requires the ultimate durability there is no reason to go to oil based stains.

I used this on some western cedar that I trimmed out a glass block window with, and I am happy with the results. It evened out the grain, but didn't add color to the wood. I brushed on a medium coat and after about 5 minutes I wiped off the excess. It dried in an hour to a tack free finish and as with all of Behrs water based finishes clean up was a breeze with warm soapy water.

This is my first time working with a wood stain. I am a very sloppy painter but I found this relatively easy. I really like this Jacobean color. It is a very dark deep brown. This is the color I chose for my kitchen cabinets. I chose to use a brush and it went on very easily. It did dry within an hour as it stated. My kitchen is very small so I am looking forward to seeing the finished look. Clean up is a breeze. It is water soluble so it cleans easily with soap and water.

It has less odor than oil-based products and an easy soap and water clean-up. I got a better coverage and more uniform color using a wipe on method after applying with a brush. It's a bit darker than other Golden Oak stains that I've used in the past but I really like the color.

This is a very good stain that is both transparent and most of all water-based product. I have been working on some interior wood shelves. I was testing this product on two different types of wood, pine and fir. I applied two coats of stain with a brush then waited five minutes then rubbed any excess off with a dry lint free cloth between coats and then applied the second coat after an hour. Both types of wood absorbed the stain very well. Very pleased with the results of this product and the easy cleanup with water.
