I used this on top of a staining project. I wanted more of a gloss look on the high traffic area of the deck to my shed . It gave me great full coverage and was easy to work with. It gave a smooth look and drying time wasn’t bad either. I will need 3 more cans for my project. But I feel it’s worth the extra effort to keep things looking great. I’m very happy.

Well packaged product. No damage noted when delivered. Looking forward to using this product on a project I plan on doing for my elder mother. She absolutely loves natural wood products. And using BEHR stain and finished with this BEHR polyurethane will absolutely bring out the natural grain in the wood. Unfortunately the pandemic and dealing with COVID-19 has prevented me from visiting her. So the best I can say for now, is looking forward to seeing her face when this is all over.

Got this for a small project and it wooks Great. I alway use a polyurethane and brush or use my paint sprayer. Then I have to clean up my tools and brush's. But for this project restoring a chair for a friend i wanted to try a easy way to finish it. After preping my wood and having it ready to finish I layed it out and sprayed the bottom and sides with 2 coats then Turned it over and put 3 coat on the top. The next day I went to check it and found a stress crack in it so I put come CA glue into the crack and built it up. After it dryed I sanded it down again around the CA glue area and then sprayed the Behr Polyurethane again around the area and it blended in perfect you cant even see were the repair was made. This spray can made the job and repair so easy. I am hooked now I cant see using anything else for small projects it just works so good & easy. Best of all no mess to clean up just put the can away.

What a terrific idea, Polyurethane Sealer in a spay can. No more brushes, drips and messes. Just spray a light coat on and let it dry.....then re-apply as directed. Like any spray paint application you need to do light sweeps so you achieve the same coverage. I did have to wait for a warm enough day so I could get the job done, being that it oil based and aerosol, it’s not for indoor use. The matte finish was just what was needed to get the protective coverage desired, without a shine. I’m pleased how my table came out and saved a lot of time.

Easy to apply to the wood baby doll cradles my husband is making. As you ca see in pictures I have attached, we put a grayish whitewash stain on the cradle, waited 24 hours and sprayed the clear oil based interior polyurethane sealer on the prepared wood. Didn’t take very long to dry. Very strongly suggest you spray outside in a ventilated space preferably with a mask on.

I am pleased with the Behr Gloss oil-based polyurethane. It does dry fast, and it allows for good control so that lite multiple coatings of a surface are possible to bring out the shine. As you know preparation of the wood is key to providing the best possible results. So lite sanding before and between coats with very fine sanding paper/steel wool really brings out the gloss. The picture I added shows the shine a little too well!

I wanted to add a polyurethane coat an old table I had. It hadn't been used in awhile and needed freshened up. This spray was so easy to use. I have used brush on polyurethane in the past. It took so much longer. I love that once I had the table thoroughly cleaned, I simply sprayed on the polyurethane and let it dry. It has made my table look new again. It has a smooth shine. Exactly what I was hoping ro achieve.

Other than the cap being impossible to get off this isn't bad stuff. The gloss finish I used on a maple draw box and two maple shelves really made the grain "pop" with a nice clear not plastic looking finish. I applied the finish in my shop which was around 70° F with low humidity and the drying time was slightly longer than 2 hrs. It did require a light sanding with 220 grit and did sand well. The only down side I'd point out is that the spray pattern isn't adjustable

This is a very good idea, the concept of an aerosol polyurethane. The ability to achieve a professional finish without the expensive equipment. I recently stained my steps, and tried this product out on them. It really brings out the grain detail. Time will tell if it holds up to the comings and goings of busy house, but I’m going to guess it will.

This is a high quality coating. I will be using it for a stool and bench. Note also that it is an interior finish. Unfortunately, because it is an oil based product, I can't spray it indoors and at the moment it is 18 degrees outside, so I will have to wait for warmer weather to use it. The can says to use 3 coats which can be applied every 2 to 4 hours, but, if you wait longer, you will have to then wait 72 hours between coats. I have used paints like this before and it is important you follow the directions on re-coating or you could get unwanted results. There are a lot of warnings on the can about spraying indoors without proper ventilation and it is wise to heed them. Follow the directions and you should have great results.

Berh Satin Clear Oil-Base Poly Spray is pretty good. The poly sprays out in a nice consistent pattern. Dries fast and goes a long way. The top is a pain to get off as it had the child proof lid, which took me 2 min with a screwdriver to get it off an I feared that I was going to break or even puncture it can trying to remove it. Overall the poly spray is good and I would get it again. I used this and a few other cans of the same product to cover and protect the stained wood for my pool room.

I am disabled and always use a cane to get around these days. I have a couple of nice oak and hickory wooden canes that do end up getting scratches and nicks in them as I like to stay busy with DIY projects at home. Two of my canes were in need of sanding and refinishing. I removed the rubber boots and thoroughly sanded both canes. I drilled pilot holes in the bottom of each cane to mount them on a piece of wood standing up....I then gave them each a light coat of SEMI-GLOSS CLEAR SEALER. I let them both dry thoroughly and gave them both a second coat..The canes look brand new and I like how easy it was to use this product and how it looks when dry.

I have a can of oil based no drip Behr stain so I obtained the oil based poly spray to top it off. Since I have not used either product before I applied both to scrap pieces of oak and pine. This product is considered Behr’s pro series and suppose to give a professional appearance. After application of stain per instructions I allowed 12 hrs dry time. I applied the first coat of poly spray, allowed to dry before a very light sanding with 1000 grit wet sanding paper. Cleaned off surface and applied second coat. Allowed to dry overnight. The stain I used is a natural stain, to bring out the wood tones. The poly spray I will use to bring up just the slightest shine and for protection of finish. The poly is a fine spray and went on evenly without drips(will drip if you apply too much at once. I am quite pleased with the out come, a professional look. Seems durable, easy to use. Note: ease of use did not apply to taking the cap off, ended up breaking it into pieces To remove.

This product frustrated me to no end. I spent 10 minutes attempting to get the cap off alone. I followed the detailed instruction of placing a screwdriver in the notch and prying up. This in turn split the lid but it still did not dislodge it from the top. I continued to pry anywhere I could get a grip. At one point I almost punctured the can attempting to get the lid off. The entire time I was trying to dislodge the cap I was in fear of damaging the spray nozzle on the top of the can. The nozzle was in cased in a secondary lid but was attached to the outer lid. After ripping the outer layer of the cap I used plyers to attempt to pull the lid off. This was not an easy task. Finally after tearing the top to pieces I had removed enough to use a hammer and screw driver to dislodge the inner cap. At which time I did knock off the spray nozzle. Luckily it did not damage the nozzle and I remounted it without a problem. My biggest regret was that I did not film this encounter because pictures do not do it justice. It may be possible that this was just a on in a million flaw but if not I can foresee many returns do to damaged nozzles while removing the cap. After the long ordeal with the cap, the product worked as advertised. It applies evenly and without clumps. Dries quickly and gives any surface a fantastic glossy look.

Hello Jonathan,
Thanks for taking the time to review our Satin Clear Oil-Based Interior Fast Drying Polyurethane. I’m sorry to hear about your experience and the trouble you had removing the cap. I don't like applying the Poly sealer in a spray can. I can never get even coverage on whatever I am spraying (even if I am painting). Then I see a spot with too much on it and a spot with not enough on it. This was the first time I re-finished a piece of wood furniture, so my lack of experience plays into this also. The can was challenging to get the top off - I had to ask a neighbor for help and he was puzzled also, but got it off. So the can says to give it 3 coats, So I did and I waited ample time between coats - one day before applying last coat. I wiped the surface good immediately before applying each coat, but somehow a couple flakes of dust or lint or something found its way onto the surface and left it's mark. I am a perfectionist, so I was not happy about this. But the finished table looks good, so it is acceptable (barely). Next time I will sand the surface with a really fine sand paper because this table is not as smooth as the original.

Hello Gingerale3,
Thanks for taking the time to review our Semi-Gloss Clear Oil-Based Interior Polyurethane Sealer Aerosol. I’m sorry to hear you’re having a hard time getting even coverage with the aerosol. I’m also concerned you had trouble getting the top off and I can assure you it’s not the experience we want any of our customers to have. I recommend using a lint free cloth to avoid marks. I also have great news as this product is available in a non-aerosol version making it great to apply with a brush. For further assistance, please feel free to reach out directly to our customer care team. Best, Roxana N. Behr

I usually use another popular brand of spray on Polyurethane, Behr was the same price for the same size can and wanted to try it out. The reason for the 4 star rating is the difficulty in removing the cap to get to the nozzle. I had to use two screwdriver to accomplish this, picture attached. This may be a safety requirement for pressurized spray cans. I did my test sample on a piece of smooth bare planed piece of Cherry. I sprayed the first coat and let it dry for 2 hours, the first coat was dry to touch but still tacky. Sprayed the second coat, both done at room temperature of 73 F. After 24 hours the coat was dry but still could be marked with my finger nail. I let it dry for 72 hours and the coating dried to a satin finish and the surface was very hard and could not be marked with the finger nail. Next I used a small screwdriver to see how hard the surface was and it can be marked as expected. Overall I am happy with the results.

The wait time between coats was accurate, so it is a fast-drying sealer. We used it on a permanent piece of wood in the laundry room. Like instructions say better to use this outdoors then bring it in, so I would NOT use this product again on a permanent structure in the house. The overspray is messy. The matte finish is nice as long as you were looking for it to be the texture of the product you're putting it on. The cap to open this spray was very difficult you may need help.

As a do-it-yourselfer, I have used a lot of polyurethane but have always opted for brush on liquid which meant being careful not to have any streaks, runs or bubbles in my finish. I found that foam brushes help but still occasional bubbles and runs on the edges would occur. This aerosol polyurethane is now my go to. I applied several light coats keeping the can moving while spraying, and Wow no runs, no streaks and no runs. I will never go back to the liquid stuff.

For several years, I have been using a variety of Behr brand house paints. I have always been highly satisfied with those products. I did not know about their spray on clear oil finishes. This is a product that I can use on the 18th century style furniture I make. While I like to build 18th century style furniture, I do not want to rely on 18th century finishes for a table that is being used in the 21st century! I want the soft satin color of an old style hand-rubbed oil finish, but with all the protection of a modern poly finish. So far, I have only sprayed a few test samples, and they turned out much better than I anticipated. In fact, while I was originally planning to use the Behr satin oil on just the table top, I am now considering using this on the entire piece.

We decided to repaint our Don Gaucho and his loyal donkey because their colors faded over the years, as well as we gave them new and brighter color schemes using various BEHR paints, as they are in the hot tropical Florida sun all year long, we decided that they needed some sort of protection and that is why we selected BEHR 11.5 OUNCES SATIN CLEAR OIL-BASED INTERIOR FAST DRYING POLYURETHANE AEROSOL; after we finished re-painting them, we followed the instructions on the can, the spray protection was easy to apply and dried quickly so we were able to apply some additional coats for extra protection; they now look wonderful and are ready for several years of yard duty

We selected this BEHR 11.5 OUNCES GLOSS CLEAR OIL-BASED INTERIOR FAST DRYING POLYURETHANE AEROSOL because were were doing a painting project, re-doing our little Mexican man, who does duty all year, but does special duty at Christmas time, where he watches over little Jesus, and he needed a new paint job; after we finished re-painting him, we realized that he needed a protection coat, to keep his colors bright for when he does his duty throughout this year and the upcoming Christmas, so we sprayed his colors with this BEHR GLOSS CLEAR OIL-BASED INTERIOR FAST DRYING POLYURETHANE AEROSOL, and looks wonderful

Behr fast drying Oil-based Polyurethane Satin spray can is a great product I have used this on small projects that require a protective coat. This polyurethane coating goes on evenly and smooth with a gloss finish. Great for picture frames and DIY projects. The only thing I had a problem with is removing the cap on the spray can. The instructions on the lid say to use a flat blade screw driver to pry off the lid. First not sure I would advise to use a screw driver to remove the lid it could puncture the can and what a mess that would be. When I did get the lid off the spray can it also popped off the spray head. I was able to put it back on and still use the product.

I used this polyurethane spray to finish a small wooden box I made for my daughter. After allowing the stain to dry overnight, it was time to apply the protective gloss finish. Spraying is the best option for a small item like this. No brush marks and nothing to cleanup. I applied three coats of polyurethane to the inside and outside over two days. The label states it can recoat in two hours – but I let it dry longer and sanded it lightly before applying the next coat. I am very satisfied with the results of this spray finish on my project. Don’t forget to follow all of the commonsense rules on the label; use in a well-ventilated area and keep away from sparks and pilot lights.

Hobbyists are always on the lookout for more economical supplies, rather than the old standards (which are often quite costly). Many modelers use products to dull the coat of paint they applied. (Not all the world is bright & shiny.) I wanted to try Behr's Oil-Based Poly Urethane, part # B7116 to see if it could prove to be a suitable substitute. This product is labeled as having a Matte finish. Merriam-Webster defines matte as "lacking or deprived of luster...". As you can see by the photos, the product performed as claimed. One photo shows the soft drink can without any of the product applied. The other photo shows how the sheen was taken down to quite a flat tone. The polyurethane did not impart any coloration on its own. Hobbyists take note: If you are trying to get a dull coat (assisting you in a key word search), try Behr's B7116.

Spray urethane can be a convenient way to coat hard to brush objects. I have not been able to find a matt finish in a can urethane product, so I wanted to see how this finish presented. I shook the can for the full minute as directed on the can then sprayed my piece of test wood. The finished turned cloudy as I sprayed. A matt finish will appear cloudy when first applied so I figured it would change as it dried. This was not the case and the finish stayed cloudy. I shook the can more and applied a more sparing application to the unstained portion of the sample. Hard to tell from the picture but it was not cloudy. The urethane dried in under 2 hours, the recommended drying time. The top was hard to open and required a screwdriver or paint can tool.

Spray urethane can be a convenient way to coat hard to brush objects. My first obstacle was the top. When I got to my spray area, I found it required a tool to open. I got a screwdriver and attempted to pry the lid as directed. The top shattered and I couldn’t get the screwdriver in under the cap, so I got channel locks to pry it off. I shook the can for the full minute as directed on the can then sprayed my piece of test wood. The finish went on smooth and clear. You can see a slight sheen compared to the matt finish. The urethane dried in under 2 hours, the recommended drying time. There was no spray residue on my fingers.

This can of spray finish sealer was enough to put two coats on the trash can. Yes you see I have used the trash can I made with the bendi board and as I said I would do in that review, I added the big shot hoop and I also added some appliques to it. This poly urathane drys to the touch in 2 hours as it advertises, but its not finished for 24 hours you still smell the gases it gives off while drying, you should wear gloves and a mask the overspray gets everywhere. The lid was hard to get off the can. I like the way it brought out the grain of the wood. No I didn't spray the net or the back board.

Horrible smell after weeks
I used oil based ploy to finish very old wood floors. More than 4 weeks later, the room reeks with the smell. It doesn’t dissipate. How can I get rid of the smell short of resanding to remove the product? Help!!

Response from Giovanna, Behr Customer CareApr 10, 2023
Hello, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the lingering smell after four weeks. This is not the experience we want for our customers, and I can understand your frustration. I recommend increasing the ventilation in the room by opening doors and windows and running fans. This will help the smell dissipate. If you do not notice an improvement after increasing the ventilation for a few days, then the coating will need to be removed. I'll reach out to you in a private email for additional assistance. Have a nice day! -Giovanna
    Disappointing performance
This was a hard product to use. First it was near impossible to get the lid off, after that the spray quality was disappointing. I was not pleased at all with how it covered. The final thing that disappointed me was I believe I had polyurethane in the can, but no propellant to get it out.
