Applied to cured yellow pine on a fence project. Product went on easily, and looks great now after a second coat.

The stain is excellent. It protects the wood from moisture and keeps a nice color and finish for a long time. It is the best I have found!

Clumpy
Without the clumps please. I used 8 gallons for a fence the first five gallons covered just fine as expected on a dry exterior cedar fence. However the last three gallons I required to complete the job were full of clumps. I returned them to the store and asked that they shake them again. No luck still clumpy. The paint section said they would return the three gallons to Behr for a credit and provided another three gallons to me. These I found had clumps as well. I suffered and used them.

Hi Walter, thank you for your review. I'm very sorry to hear the House & Fence Wood Stain had clumps in the containers, and I can understand how frustrating this must have been. That is not normal and not the experience we want for our customers. This stain should have an even and watery-like liquid consistency. Typically, this can be fixed by stirring for about 3-5 minutes, reaching the bottom of the container to ensure all contents are thoroughly mixed. Very good solid stain. Very thick, if spraying, it will definitely need thinning.
The stain is great, but Home Depot sucks. As a Pro customer, Home Depot will send discounts just after your purchases. This has happened several times with this time being no exception. I purchased 15 gallons on 3 separate visits over a weeks period and as usual, receive the 15 off 150 after the last $170 purchase of 5 gallons.

Love the solid slate color as it creates a pleasant contrast against the white rocks on the property, however, it dried slightly darker than expected/desired.
The stain spreads well, but I would recommend a light first coat with a heavier second coat for best coverage and quickest drying time. By the time I was done applying the first coat, I could go back and start the second coat!
I would highly recommend you purchase and use the stain on the same day. I let mine site for a few days and had to remix... it took a long time until all lines disappeared from the stain in the can. It just added to my effort as I do not have an electric mixer/shaker.

The color, while not my favorite, is mandated by the HOA. But the paint is excellent - easy to apply, good coverage, water cleanup, and it holds up to extreme weather conditions for many years.

Home Depot Duluth was most helpful in getting me your most popular stain. Thank you for putting it in a five gallon pail for a reasonable price. The color is a rich dark chocolate color that I was looking for. It was an easy stain to put on without it dripping all over the place. Make sure you have a good brush to begin with.
