3 Coats
This product claims to be guaranteed one coat, which is why I purchased it. It actually took 3 coats which is the same as regular Behr products. When you read the fine print it says only certain colors are guaranteed to work in one coat. Don't waste your money buy the regular stuff.

Hi ckirch, thank you for your review. I'm sorry you did not get the expected coverage. I assure you this is not the experience we want for our customers. Our Dynasty Ceiling paint should cover in one coat over an existing coating when using a one coat hide color. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we want to help. Please feel free to reach out to us directly to see how we can assist you further. Our Customer Care team is ready to help! -Alex Behr
I was skeptical of this paint as a one coat finish. As a man half blind in one eye, and a recent shoulder rebuild I was concerned that I would be unable to do a goid job on my 3 bedroom ceilings. This paint is very forgiving and even though my overhead strength was lacking, the job looks great in all 3 rooms! One coat did it!

Did not cover, and does not dry flat. Leaves a sheen. I had to go to Sherwin Williams and buy a ceiling paint that actually works.

    High cost very low quality.
Very disappointed in behr. This is extremely expensive paint that my contractor used when I had some work done, as he implied cost equals quality, but I kept seeing blotches and roll marks after several coats. It has a odd sheen where there should be NO sheen. I then had to replace part of ceiling and bought more to be consistent, and it’s just awful. It’s money and time and effort down the drain

This was supposed to be Behr's best ceiling paint but after 3 coats it still leaves a nasty finished product. It leaves a very uneven finish with flat and satin areas throughout the ceiling after 3 and in some parts 4 coats of paint. This paint is $50 per gallon but in my humble opinion, it is worthless. All the time and effort to paint the ceiling for fresh new look was wasted on an inferior product.

Hello, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the ceiling looks uneven after three coats. That's not typical, and I can understand your disappointment. Does not cover in one coat!!
I purchased Behr Marquee satin wall paint specifically so I would not have to do two coats. So disappointed! After applying nice and thick I can see roller marks as well as the underlying color. The wall is nursery baby blue and this cannot cover it. Don't waste your money. Buy regular paint. You will have to do two coats anyway.

one-coat coverage on all but bare drywall. matte hides wall imperfections, and I was able to touch up marks easily with paint rather than washing them off. I may try eggshell next time to get more light reflected: this and the flat ceiling paint seem to absorb and diffuse light rather than reflecting it.

        Worst Paint ever
Blotchy, uneven, roller marks. It has a sheen that shows every imperfection. I had painted many ceilings and the matte finish usually makes it the easiest surface to do. Not this, I did 2 coats and the second was just as bad! I used the best rollers too. Now I have to buy another brand and redo the whole thing. What a waste of time and money. And to think I payed more for “marquee”.

Hi Patt, thank you for your review. Sorry to hear that the Marquee Ceiling Paint was blotchy, left roller makes and has a sheen. Is a expensive paint for what it does no way, normally a primer and paint will block stains this one does not do that

            Avoid this ceiling paint
My entire house is painted using Behr premium plus. I have always had good luck with that paint. I needed to do a ceiling in my family room so I thought I would give the marquee a shot. It is not flat paint, but has a sheen to it. Despite 3 coats, you can still see roller marks throughout the entire ceiling. I never thought iI would need 2 gallons to cover 250 sq ft. What a waste of money. This paint should be taken off the shelves. I would never recommend it or use it again.

Hi there, thank you for your review. Sorry to hear that you had an issue with our Marquee Ceiling Paint. It isn't typical for the paint to dry with a sheen. To fix the issue, If the roller marks are still visible, I'd recommend applying another coat of paint perpendicular to the direction it was last applied and letting the paint dry for 4-6 hours to see if the finish evens out. Excellent
I had excellent results. The paint provided great coverage, was thick and easy to work with, and dried quickly. The ceiling turned out beautiful with one coat. I would definitely use this again.

                rough texture, not flat!
redoing an office that originally had popcorn. removed popcorn, cleaned drywall, had a professional add 3 coats of mud and sanded out perfectly flat. Added 3 coats of killz primer, then a coat of this ceiling paint. Waited the recommended dry time and recoated. The paint then becomes thick and looks very rough. Let dry over night, lightly sanded down rough spots wiped down dust and added a 3rd coat. Thought it looked better until the sun came out the next day. This looks almost worse than the popcorn did. Expected a smooth finish as with their wall paint. Using Benjamin Moore from now on.

Hi ceiling - Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the unwanted texture on your ceiling. This product should dry to a smooth finish like our wall paint and I'm concerned that the paint looks rough. Once the paint has dried for at least 24 hours, I recommend lightly sanding down the texture, wiping the surface clean, then touching up with more paint. Please feel free to reach out to us directly so we can learn more about your project and assist you with this further. We hope to hear from you! - Sara Behr
                  High Price, Poor Results
I paid more because I thought I would achieve the best results. On the contrary! First of all, flat paint should be flat. This paint has a very detectable sheen. Second, “one-coat hide” is bologna. You’d need to be in a room with no windows for this paint to truly be one-coat. I’ve painted many ceilings and I’ve never been more disappointed with a paint product. Waste of time. Pay more elsewhere for better results. The attached photo is 24 hrs. after two coats were applied with an 18” roller

Not A Sub for The Behr Ultra Paint
Home Depot was out of the Behr Ultra ceiling paint we’d been using (5558) and we were told this was equivalent. It’s not. This product is more eggshell than flat and has a gray tint rather than being pure white. Would not recommend. In the photo you can see where we started with the Ultra (5558) and tried to do some touch ups with the Marquee (1458).

DON'T BUY This Unless You Want Streaks and Blotches and Want to Repaint!
We purchased 6 gallons of this paint for our ceiling in our new basement. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. We had professional painters come paint the basement. They did the rest of our house, which looks amazing (so we know it's not them). This ceiling paint showed up blotchy. It shows up with a sheen/gloss. It's uneven. It's left streaks. We now have to have the entire ceiling repainted after all our trim and cabinetry was built. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT! We are getting reimbursement from Behr directly for the product, but will also be demanding reimbursement for labor associated with having painters redo the ceiling. I am so dissappointed in this product. Unforunately, we will never use Behr paint again after this project.

Excellent for a novice painter; Cameo White does cover in one coat
We need to repaint the interior of our house. About 10 years ago, we had it professionally painted in Sherwin Williams Travertine (creamy/light peachy color) in a Satin finish. It was very expensive. Several rooms now have faded patches, so it's time to repaint. I thought I'd paint a 5x8 bathroom to see if this is a project I could take on myself. Several YouTube reviews claim that Behr Marquee really does cover in one coat, ***if you choose a color from the One Coat Color Collection.*** I figured that if one coat really was enough, repainting the house myself would be a more feasible option. I didn't have strong feelings about a white for the bathroom, so I went with Cameo White (the lightest color in the One Coat Collection). The sample in Satin was really shiny, about the same as Sherwin Williams Semigloss, so I went with the Eggshell finish. The paint is thick, which makes it easy to work with for someone without much experience (very few drips). It did cover the Travertine in one coat! It took about half a quart and about 2.5 hours, of which 45 minutes was prep. Very doable. I tried to get before and after photos of a blank wall, but the colors didn't look right, so I attached "after" pictures only. The tub, toilet, and sink are bright white. The ceiling and trim are Sherwin Williams Extra White in Semigloss. I like the way it looks, but I think Cameo White may be too bright for the bedrooms. The One Coat Color Collection doesn't have a lot of white/ivory choices, but there are a few shades to consider. I currently have Crisp Linen, Varnished Ivory, and Moongaze samples on the walls (ivory/beige shades). Bottom line: if the time/expense/convenience of painting in one coat is more important to you than getting the perfect color, paint from the Behr Marquee One Coat Color Collection is worth it. And no, I wasn't paid or rewarded in any way for this review.

                          Terrible
As Bill reviewed on 3/11/21, I couldn't have said it any better. I applied a total of 4 gallons for a kitchen. NOTE- there was nothing wrong with the ceiling prior to repainting. I just wanted to change from my Princeton white color to a ceiling white color. I started out with 2 gallons Marguee White ceiling flat wall paint. After paint dried, the blotches and roll marks became very visible. Then I went to HD and they suggested the Behr Plus. I applied 2 more gallons of this and only marginal improvement (see pic). Looks ok at night, but during the day when sunlight comes in, you see all the roller marks. The paint also leaves small pitting. So now, I went and purchased a pole sander and sanded entire ceiling!! I am contacting a painting contractor, who will probably use another brand paint. I have painted my entire house with Behr wall paints and have no prior problems. I have also painted ceilings before with other brands and have NEVER had this problem. This paint should be recalled!

                            Terrible paint, not flat, blotchy
I’m really disappointed in this paint. It is not flat but rather has a sheen to it especially in the sunlight. It also looks very blotchy. It goes on very thick but does not cover well at all. It takes several strokes to get good coverage. It took a gallon to cover a small kitchen ceiling. After it dried it showed swirls all over the ceiling. I would never buy this again.

Hello ST, thank you for your review. I am so sorry the sheen is blotchy and that the paint didn't cover well. Typically most colors will cover in 1-2 coats, though additional coats may be needed depending on the surface, application, and color. I recommend allowing the last coat applied to dry for 24 hours then recoating across the surface for better coverage and a more even sheen. Terrible. Not white and probably not “one coat"
I used the Bher Ultra ceiling paint in my living room, and it was great. This Marquee variety is terrible. Rathet than matching the ultra variety, the Marquee is a dull gray white that does not match and hardly seems like it would work with one coat. Stick with the ultra.

                                AVOID this paint- NOT FLAT
This paint is not flat, more like eggshell finish. I am an experienced painter and have used Behr products for 10+ years with no issues! BUT! This fancy ceiling paint is terrible as it has a shine to it and roller brush strokes are seen all over the ceiling when looking at the angle. For textured ceilings probably not a problem- hence all the 5 star reviews here, but terrible for smooth ceilings. After wasting $80 on Marquee, I bought Behr Premium Plus ceiling paint (half the cost) and tried on a little square. See the pictures!!! The little square of basic paint is TRUELY flat AND so much whiter!! The rest of the ceiling is Marquee with terrible shine and streaks from roller brush! Do not buy this paint for smooth ceilings!

                                  Awful smudges
I’m an experienced painter. This is the third time I’ve tried Behr Marquee. It smudges something terrible. The first time I thought it was because I left the can outside in 50 degree weather. It smudges terribly in the closet. I sanded the wall and tried again with a fresh can. No issues. Then I tried again in the bathroom with a fresh can. Again it smudged. What happened is you put your first roller full on the wall. Then dip your roller for the next section and put that on the wall. Anything that touches the first section, immediately pulls and smudges. This should not happen. This is happening with a brush as well. Very annoying. I tried this a third time today with a fresh sample from Home Depot. I brushed it on and it immediately smudges. The formula is just too thick and ironically it does not cover in one coat. I will not be using marquee paint in the future. It requires multiple coats anyway so I will be sticking with Behr Ultra Photos are from brushing on a quick sample of an eggshell finish. I will have to sand it now

Hi Lwharma, thank you for your review. I am so sorry our paint is smudging and that it is not covering in one coat as expected. Typically our Marquee Paint should cover in one coat when tinted to select colors from our One-Coat Color Collection and applied to a previously coated surface. Colors outside this collection may require additional coats to provide the coverage needed. If the paint continues to pull off the previous section as you roll or brush over it again, I recommend thinning the paint with up to 4 ounces of water to help extend the working time of the paint. If the coating left a texture on your project, allow the coating to dry for 24 hours, gently sand the surface smooth with 180-240 grit sandpaper, clean the surface, and touch up or recoat once the surface is dry. But the MOST IMPORTANT this is NOT A WHITE. The color is light blue lavender color. if yo need WHITE this is NOT for you. I painted all thinking some paint could change after but NO. Disappointed-Don’t buy if you care how your paint job looks
The guy at Home Depot encouraged me to try this for my house. I decided I would give it a try in my garage because I wasn’t really concerned with how it looked. Well I’m glad I didn’t use in my house. The paint had a thinner viscosity than I anticipated. However, when you put on the wall it just developed a dimpled paint look and I ended up having to paint really hard to fill the area in which then this left lines. It didn’t cover in one coat. I tried 5 Behr samples on the wall Prior to painting and it didn’t even cover the same color sample. You could see all 5 samples through the paint. It was almost impossible to cut in. You either needed to put a lot of paint down in which then it dripped/ran or you ended up again with this dimple look of paint and no paint. I tried a semi smooth roller, smooth roller and a paint brush and it was difficult to work with in all cases. The guy at Home Depot said it has to do with the user. Ha...I painted my whole house including ceilings, cabinets and trim with Behr paint and didn’t have an issue. Stick to the the Behr Ultra.

I'm sorry to hear about the coverage and finish issues experienced, as it certainly isn't normal or what we want our customers to go through. Kindest regards,

                                        Too thick, dries quick
This paint is thick and dries very quickly. I hired painters and they felt that this paint was a nightmare to work with, you can not cross hatch over any areas were paint was rolled or cut in on. They had to go back in and sand the areas where the paint picked up and bubbled. Returned to Home Depot for Behr non-marquee brand.

Hi Natasha, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the paint was thick and drying too fast. This is not typical, and I understand your disappointment. The paint should have a creamy consistency, and you can add 4 oz. of water per gallon to slow down the dry time. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please reach out to us directly if you need further assistance, our customer care team is happy to help you! -Giovanna Behr

A ceiling paint with two different sheens?!
Bought this after making the poor choice to use premium plus ceiling paint. This paint does not cover and is more of an eggshell then a flat. Also my gallon was full of hardened acryllic chunks, which i had to clean off the ceiling (had paint shaken before use) also brushed on paint has different sheen then rolled on paint, i used a brand new brush, tray, and roller sleeve so no chance of contaminents. Will never use behr again, you shouldnt either.

Hi Kenree - Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that there were dried paint chunks in your paint can, and about the different sheens on your ceiling! If possible, we recommend giving the paint 24 hours to dry as the extra dry time will allow the sheen to even itself out. If you can still see a sheen difference after 24 hours, a second coat is needed for uniformity. For further assistance with your project, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We'd be happy to help. - Sara Behr
