Benjamin Moore vs. Marquee
for the past few years i've used almost exclusively benjamin moore regal select for my paint projects. this is based on my own experience as well as info from professional painters (which i am not). I had some newly installed molding (primed pine) to paint around the house but my local benjamin moore store was closed so i picked up a gallon of the ultra white marquee semi-gloss. End result is fantastic. the paint is easy to apply and really bright - makes the trim pop. Bottom line: you get comparable results but Marquee is cheaper than regal select.
I'm so disappointed with this paint. I should have read the reviews before I decided to try this terrible paint. I'm a craftsman and I hand crafted an Adirondack chair and then I primed it. I let the primer dry for a few days and then painted the chair with the Marquee semi gloss paint using a good quality roller. No matter how I applied this paint it didn't cover and I could see the white primer through the paint. After 3 days of waiting for it to dry it remained sticky. We can't even sit in the chair in fear of sticking to the paint. I feel I have just paid for paint that ruined my beautifully hand crafted Adirondack Chair. There is something drastically wrong with this paint. It's going to need a 2nd coat because the fist coat is so thin you can see through it. I'm so upset!

Hello Anthony, thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear you weren't satisfied with the Marquee paint you used; that's not the experience we want our customers to have with our products. Our Marquee paint should cover in one coat when applied to a previously coated surface, and is tinted to any color in the Marquee One Coat Collection palette. Colors outside the palette, and the untinted Ultra Pure White may require additional coats to provide you your desired coverage. To get your project back on track, we'd suggest increasing the ventilation in the space the chair is located and allowing it to dry longer. A recoat may be needed to uniform your color once the chair has dried a bit longer. Customer satisfaction is very important to us. Please feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team directly for assistance, or if you have any questions. They are always happy to help. Have a great rest of your day. –Joanna

Worst paint on earth
I prepped my previously-painted surfaces (sanding, tsp) before using this horrid paint, which has turned me into the kind of person who takes the time out of her day to leave a review on PAINT. It was watery and didn’t cover properly—like painting on cellophane. It ran and left uncovered patches everywhere. I thought at first it was my surface but I tested a Sherwin Williams paint on the same wall and it went on fine. Never using Behr again. Photo shows white Behr on top and blue SW on bottom.

Hi CamCHS - Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the paint seemed so watery and left a patchy finish! Our Marquee paint should have a very creamy consistency and will cover your previously painted or primed surfaces in or coat when tinted to a color from our One-Coat Color Collection. If the paint still seems watery and transparent after stirring it for a few minutes, it's best to continue your project with a new can. We'd like to help you with this further. Please feel free to reach out to us directly. We look forward to hearing from you! - Sara
Don’t Buy Unless You Want it To Fade Into a Different Color in 4 Yrs!
#BehrPaint customer #consumer #reviews : ZERO star‘S ! I painted my house may-June of 2013 w/ #behr #premiumPlus ext semi gloss. I loved it neighborhood loved it. 3 yrs later started to fade, 4 yrs totally different color!! Contacted behr they said buy more paint then they “may” compensate I didn’t have the money to have that done at that time. So now a few more yrs later I write this & to show how bad it is. I’m painting now with the exact same color & using behr premium plus ultra. Don’t ask why I went w/ behr again. Don’t buy the premium plus not a good product. Fades fast looses its semigloss & I painted this house very well. Body color faded to entirely different color spectrum! The brown was bad but still brown at least! VERY DISSATISFIED! Don’t waste your money! I did a quick test spot of new paint in pics so you can see. Paint is fully dry. unreal just unreal...

Hi HighlyDissatisfied - Thank you for reviewing our paint. I'm sorry to hear about the fading on your home. Please keep in mind that all paint will fade to a certain degree over time. To fix the finish, it's best to clean the surface and apply a fresh coat of our Ultra exterior paint which will offer more fade resistance. If you need further assistance with your project, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We'd be happy to help. - Sara

Love the paint but not the new lid - list a customer
I have used Behr for years and have recommended to many. However maybe the issue is being a female with limited strength but I cannot open the new lids. After I use it once and wipe off the lid well before closing, even my husband can’t get it open. I have to cut it and move it to another container if not using it right away. I have bought 6 cans in the last few weeks from HD. They just smile when I express frustration with the new lids. I can only assume that means they are hearing it from others. Sherwin Williams was my 2nd choice but at least I can get to the paint.
