Hi Carlos - Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the peeling that happened once the paint was walked on! To fix the finish, I recommend removing the loose paint, etching and priming the bare concrete, then applying 1-2 coats of paint for a long-lasting finish. This is a self-priming floor paint, so your first coat of paint will act as your bonding primer and your additional coats will build up the color and durability. Alternatively, you can apply a separate primer product like our Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer before painting. For further assistance with this, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We'd be happy to help. - Sara Behr

I did all the preparatory steps. I did everything that the product recommended, from cleaning the floor, etching, priming, and further making sure that no debris were on the surface. I followed the requirements for temperature during application, double coating, and drying time. I did it all and its still peeling from under my tires, and its only been two weeks since application. I should have listened to the reviews, but I figured that those negative reviews were the people not following the manufacturer’s instructions. I followed all instructions, and am left with a poor product on my floor and $100 in the hole between the hardware, etching, priming, and epoxy products.

Hi MA - Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the peeling under your car tires, especially after preparing the surface! To fix the finish, I recommend sanding the loose paint from the areas that lifted, spot etching and priming the bare concrete, touching up with more paint, then allowing these spots to dry for at least 7 days. So we can assist you with this further, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We hope to hear from you! - Sara Behr
      Wasted work and money
We spent two days cleaning and prepping the garage floor. Two days putting two coats on it. Let it cure. Did not drive on it until the recommenced time and FIRST TIME WE PARKED THE CAR ON IT IT PEELED OFF!

HI Andrea, thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear the epoxy paint you used on your garage floor peeled so soon; that's not the experience we want our customers to have with our products. To get your project back on track, we'd recommend removing all the loose paint from your concrete, spot etching any bare/uncoated concrete areas, cleaning your surface with a concrete cleaner and degreaser, allowing it to dry for at least 24 hours, and touching up the affected areas. For additional adhesion, we'd recommend spot priming all the bare/uncoated areas with our Bonding Primer No. 880 prior to touching up, and allowing the touch-up areas to dry for at least 7 days before parking over them. Cardboard can be used underneath the tires as well (for about 14 days after your application) to ensure the coating has enough time to completely dry before exposing it to hot tires. Customer satisfaction is important to us. Please feel free to contact our Customer Care team directly with any questions you may have or for further assistance. Have a great rest of your day. –Joanna Behr
        Already peeling
I spent a lot of time prepping as per the instructions. It looked great. We waited 3 days longer than recommended before driving a car onto the floor and the first time my husband backed out after parking his car, there were pieces of paint that came up. I am very disappointed after spending so much time on this.

        Hi Kristina,

Thank you for reviewing Behr 1-Part Epoxy. I'm very sorry to hear about the peeling issue experienced, as it certainly isn't what we want our customers to go through. The loose paint edges can be sanded down with medium grit (80-120) sandpaper to a smooth finish. If 1-Part Epoxy is peeling down to a previous coating, you can clean and touch up with more paint. Etching with something like muriatic acid is recommended if the paint is peeling down to bare concrete.

Please contact Behr's Customer Care Department for further assistance with this matter. We'd love to find a way to help.

        Kindest regards,

          Very Bad Product
I bought this paint instead of Rustoleum Epoxy Shield because of its claim of easier installation. I was very disappointed with the product. I followed every instruction of the paint. I cleaned the garage with a pressure washer. Waited for a day and then used the Rustoleum Etching Solution with wire brush and scrapped till it felt like sandpaper. I waited for another 2 days for floor to dry. On the 3rd day, I added 2 coats of paint as recommended and waited for paint to dry for day before walking on it. After waiting 10 days, I brought my car inside the garage from the driveway ( the tires were not hot at all). When I backed out my car the next day the paint had peeled off at the location of tires. 2 days after that the paint started peeling off after I used my regular spray washer on the garage floor. Now I have to scrap off the entire paint and redo the garage floor. Dont Buy this paint. Its really bad. Stay away from this paint.

            So Disappointed
I read all the reviews before purchasing this paint. Many suggested it peeled but it didn’t sound like they had properly prepped. Those that noted they prepped the floor correctly wrote great reviews. So...I took on the task of completely stripping, grinding and cleaning my floor before applying this product. It’s been down about three weeks and I was so happy with it. Then...we had an extremely heavy rain due to hurricane Sandy and I was need up with two small puddles in my basement. The water sat on the floor less than 12 hours. That was long enough for it to bubble and peel my brand new paint!!!! I can’t believe a product advertised for garage floors would peel with a small amount of water on it for less than 12 hours. It’s been so much work to get this floor ready and painted and I’m just at a loss. This is a special order paint so I can’t just go to the store and buy more. I’m not even sure what to do at this point.

Paint itself seems great. Ordered two gallons. No choice of shade of gray seen when ordering online. Shades of gray in the two cans were miles apart. Not even close (see image included here). A call to my local Home Depot offered no support. Had to go to Behr directly for help. Behr indicated they provide the white base and Home Depot adds the tint. Why the colors of two gallons ordered the same would be so much different is a puzzle. Caused several hours of do-over work.

              Awful. Awful. Awful
Followed all directions. Applied 3 coats and spent hours doing my drieway. A month later it is pealing, cracking, stained from leaves and flower petals and DOES NOT resist hot tire marks. Waste of money and time.

              Hi unhappycustomer,

Thank you for reviewing Behr 1-Part Epoxy. I'm sorry to hear about the peeling and dirt resistance issues experienced, as it certainly isn't what we want our customers to go through. To fix the peeling issue, I recommend sanding down the loose edges before cleaning and touching-up/recoating. Tough stains can be removed with a concrete cleaner from Home Depot. If the paint is peeling down to bare concrete, the concrete should be etched with something like muriatic acid to increase adhesion. After a new coat is applied, the stain should dry for at least 7 days before direct tire traffic. Cooler weather and higher humidity can sometimes prolong the dry time.

Please contact Behr's Customer Care Department for further assistance with this matter. We'd love to find a way to help.

                Unacceptable
To get the maximum quality per recommendation on the manufacturer, cleaned the floor with Muriatic acid, applied the BEHR concrete bonding primer and then two coats of BEHR #PFC-68 Epoxy floor paint. I let it dry for two weeks and the second day I parked my car in the garage the paint peeled off

Paint has difficulty adhering to concrete. It never really cures. Pulls off easily. (This review is not attempt to knock Home Depot, only this Behr product). I followed their directions well. One point is that you can never put more than two coats on. It will never cure this way. Any spot painting will be like putting more on. Called customer service many times about using this paint and what I could have been doing wrong. Basically you need two to three times acid washed concrete for this stuff to stick. Any hard plastic contact with a table leg, rolling cart or grille wheel. Or lawn mower, absolutely will pull this pain off the floor. Any wood contact, might not, but probably will pull it. I wish I could get my money back from using this on two rooms. It is somewhat water resistant, but like any tacky surface. This paint is as tough as hard candy mixed with water, where you poured it out on the floor. The sugar is hard to get off, but still does not ultimately protect anything. Always a sticky tacky feeling to this paint. Not only do I recommend you do not use it but rather this poorly engineered product be taken off the market. Really.

                      DO NOT BUY!!!!
Well, I got suckered. The fact the BEHR responds to most negative feedback had me sold that they stood behind their product. They probably shouldn’t. I put down 2 coats on a patio used for working out. No oil, no dirt, fully cured, completely clean and out on the sun. After 3 days, I tested one area with a fingernail and it completely flaked off like regular latex would. I’m so bummed out. Not only did I lose money, but now I have to redo the entire area. Please... I do not recommend at all!!! Buyer beware.

I ordered five 5-gallon buckets of paint. The paint works great. However, two of the 5 buckets arrived with paint having leaked out of the buckets. One of these, the paint got out of the plastic bag. I called the store trying to get this problem solved, I got the phone runaround. I have pictures and will go to the store to see what solution they offer. I haven't removed the buckets from the boxes as I will need to handle the paint that is inside loose and I'm not yet prepared to do that. Because of the leaky buckets I recommend not ordering on-line!

This seems to be good paint, but the color was a huge surprise. It is very different from the shade of blue shown on homedepot.com. It's so bright that it looks neon. If you want to call attention to your floor, great. Otherwise, this color isn't a good choice.

This is being applied to a tan epoxy coated surface with some bare concrete on spots. We are using the recommended 3/8" nap premium roller. Given the "self-priming" and "one-coat coverage" descriptors, I would not think a second coat would be necessary. It definitely will need a second coat. The darker areas are overlap or areas we have re-coated in an attempt to see how many coats it will take. We are thinking three at this point.

Hi ThriftySmurf - Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, this product is not a one-coat coverage paint; however, it is self-priming. Once the existing paint is scuff sanded and the bare concrete is etched, we recommend applying a coat of the 1-Part Epoxy to the whole surface which will act as your primer coat. Any additional coats will build up the color and a uniform finish. If you need further assistance with your project, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly. - Sara Behr

I followed the recommendation for repairing the peel off paint. I washed, dried and sandpaper the area but it just peel off right off when I place a masking tape over it. I think any normal paint would stick on better than this. I think Homedepot should just remove this product and save everyone the trouble and money. I wrote in to BEHR to complain but no reply so far. Totally disappointed!!

I purchased this paint for my patio and walkway that I had recently done some cement patchwork on. I felt that painting it would make it look refreshed, and obviously cover the variance between the old and new concrete. This paint has some negative reviews, but I gave it a shot because I am a loyal Behr customer. The paint was very smooth to go on with a brush and epoxy roller. One can was sufficient for the patio and walkway. I am waiting for the cure period to seal it, and hope that it will last for years to come in this high-traffic area. One thing that I would like to add is that the color is light khaki, much lighter than it appears on the screen.

I purchased this paint for my patio and walkway that I had recently done some cement patchwork on. I felt that painting it would make it look refreshed, and obviously cover the variance between the old and new concrete. This paint has some negative reviews, but I gave it a shot because I am a loyal Behr customer. The paint was very smooth to go on with a brush around the edges and on the entire surface with an epoxy roller. One can was sufficient for two coats for the entire patio and walkway. I am waiting for the cure period to seal it, and hope that it will last for years to come in this high-traffic area. One thing that I would like to add is that it is a bright white, another reviewer mentioned that it wasn't a very bright white, but I can't imagine getting much whiter than this.

Floor cleaned with detergent, then twice with muriatic acid. Painted May 4. Kept car in driveway until May 12 before moving into garage. May 20 (8 days later!!), floor already peeling. When looking for customer service number, noticed warning about removing paint - contains lead. I'm heartsick. It was so much work and so expensive (hired painter, but moved everything myself - twice).

                                      Hi LWJax,

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the paint started to peel after only 8 days of dry time! To fix the finish, I recommend sanding down he loose paint, spot etching the bare concrete, spot priming these areas with the 1-Part Epoxy or our Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer, then touching up with more paint. Please keep in mind that this product does not contain lead and is safe to remove. So we can assist you with this further, please feel free to reach out to us directly. - Sara Behr

                                        Doesn't stay on, poor quality!!
I had hired a contractor to apply the epoxy, they did the cleaning, etching as directed but within 3 weeks, the epoxy started peeling off. The epoxy under the car tires were the worst, my contractor patched it up but after another 3 weeks, the epoxy comes off again. This is really disappointing and cost me a lot!!

                                          Does not protect from tires.
I painted the garage floor with this, added the flakes, and let it dry for 5 days straight without putting the cars inside. I then added a clear top coat made specifically for garages. I let it dry for a few days. Overall, I would say I let it dry for over a week. However, the first time I drove my car into the garage after coming home from work, it left tire marks and peeled off the top coat and the concrete coat beneath it. Now the base concrete floor is exposed once again. It looked great at first, but it DOES NOT hold up at all. This I NOT made for garages as it states.

                                          Hi Joy,

I'm very sorry to hear about the tire pick-up issue you experienced with 1-Part Epoxy. It certainly isn't normal after more than a 7-day dry time. I completely understand how upsetting this situation must be and would love to help. The exposed concrete should be etched to increase porosity and adhesion before cleaning and touching up. I strongly encourage you to contact Behr directly for further assistance with this matter.

                                          Kindest regards,

                                          Doris Behr

Freshened up garage mixed putting green and woven willow for floor
Freshened up garage mixed putting green and woven willow for floor. Woven willow on walls. I had been putting off epoxy because of its complexity, until I discovered this 1 part epoxy. We did this in January East Coast almost at non recommended temperatures. We prepped doing a good job to get any loose particles off floor with dry scrub brush on a stick and powerful wet/dry vac. This product was so easy to work with We used an 18" roller highly recommended for a quicker coverage of area. One side of the garage had been previously painted and the other 1 was original did 2 Coats on both sides allowing to dry around 3-5 hours in between costs with full fan. If you are doing concrete walls use a fluffier roller made for rough surfaces. Paint spread so easily and had excellent coverage. We do not have any cars in the garage so there is no tire traction or water and we put rugs for foot traffic. With that being said it seems like a very strong product that at adhered and cured very well. No even remotely places off evidence of potential for peeling.
