Best stain ever

Looks great!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I applied this to my deck in March of 2021 and it looks excellent. I will say to make sure you maintain a wet edge. I have some overlapping, but that is a user error not the product :) I love the color. It really brings out the features of the wood. I have had many compliments. Thanks Behr!

Very red! Needs second coat.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this for our new log home’s exterior. The first coat went on light, so a second coat was needed. Don’t be fooled by the color of the wood on the outside of the can! The clear cedar tone is VERY red! The quick drying feature is a major plus. It’s been 4 years and the stain has held up extremely well, even in our harsh winter conditions! Yes!! I would buy again, absolutely!!

Excellent Finish
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After cleaning my deck with the finishing wash, I applied one coating of the Wood Finish and allowed it to dry for three days. Upon surveying the results, the finish became very durable and offered a nice glossy finish to the wood. I'm confident that this finish will hold up to it's use for at least another 4-6 years.

Super frustrating
This is the WORST PAINT MEDIUM I have ever tried to use. Streaks, globs, uneven coverage is the norm. I used a pad and you would think I was fingerpainting it looks so bad. Photos are after 3 coats. Just terrible.

We recommend applying our Transparent Wood Finish on bare wood, after cleaning with the All-In-One Wood Cleaner and removing dead wood fibers. Clear Color Choice has Orange Tint When Dry
Installed this on new redwood bench, let the bench sit for 2 months then sanded with 220 grit and tack clothed.
Material looked orange in the can.
It made the redwood orange in the light colored areas and darkened the deeper red areas.
Wish it was truly clear.
Installed in deep shade at about 80’ degrees F.
As mentioned clean up any puddles quickly, as this occurred only on the second coat.
Overall I’d give a 8 out of 10, due to the color change.
Will probably go to solid stain when it wears off.

Color Matching versus Product Labeling
Okay I understand this is my fault, I'm kind of a speed reader..
On the can of BEHR Waterproofing I read TRANSPARENT first, I had watched some YouTube videos on application of Behr Waterproofin and did NOT expect the liquid to be CLEAR..
What I did NOT hear or Understand by initially reading the Behr Can was that I was buying "TRANSPARENT CEDAR" that would have been helpful to have ALL of those words together in the same places on the Can..
That being said, it looked great on my 2"X8"X10ft fence Extreme weather pine board slats mounted between Railroad Ties

not even close to chocolate
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this to stain the counter on my tiki bar and decided to use it on a kitchen island build as well. Glad I did before I put it on the counter I've spent days working on. 2 coats in and there is a slight tint, nowhere near "chocolate" which is the color I selected. Pictured with the brochure for reference.

To verify that your color was mixed correctly, we’d suggest checking that the physical color swatch matches the stain dab on your can’s lid. If the colors match, the stain was properly mixed, and the color is correct. In cases like this, the best solution would be to remove the current stain before recoating in a different color. If the swatch doesn’t match the dab on your can’s lid, the color was incorrectly mixed, and we’d suggest recoating with new stain tinted to the correct color, once you've stripped your wood.
Please keep in mind that different lighting will affect how a color looks and that our online color palette display may vary slightly from the actual colors because of variances in monitor settings. Also, as the stain is transparent, be mindful that your original wood's color will influence the finishing tone, because of the coating's transparency.

Beautiful color!

Goes on easy

SOOO Easy to use

Dissapoine
I used the clear no. 500N finish on a wood and iron end exterior end table that I had stained a weathered oak. I loved the weathered oak stain but after using the clear transparent wood finish my table is now greenish, yellowish, certainly not clear, awful. Now I have to sand/ strip it and start again. Have a bench and chair to do but they are stained only so for. Next time I will experiment finish one board at a time. Extremely disappointed

Great Finish

We originally tried using a paint brush but it took too long, I ended up using my paint sprayer for the rest of the pieces. It went on smoothly and created a beautiful finish to our furniture. The furniture has been outside in the rain and Texas heat for a month or so and it still looks like new. Great product to protect your wood investments!

Great Product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have used this product for over 20 years. Goes on easily and spreads well with brush or 3/8 roller. Holds up great in all kinds of weather. Can go 2 to 6 years before recovering, depending on what surfaces are facing direct sun.

Tacky after following directions.
After 5 days my deck is still tacky. Feels like soda was spilled on the entire thing!! I asked for the
fastest drying clear protectant because I have giant st. Bernards and a huge covered beautiful redwood deck. So the guy at home depot recommended this. 5 days later, they still can't go on it. I did what the back of the can said to do. And now I've looked up how to fix and it seems like a NIGHTMARE to fix for a giant deck. Very frustrating that it's tacky. The 1st coat wasn't tacky at all. I should have just went with my judgment and left it at 1 coat. But the can said to apply 2 thin coats so, I'm assuming it was over applied.

The stain should've dried to a hard finish within 72 hours, so I understand the concern with the stain remaining tacky for five days. A small test area can be gently cleaned with soap and water to remove the tacky top layer. The rest of the surface can be cleaned if the small test area feels less tacky after drying. If there is no difference in tackiness, it'd be best to strip, clean, and recoat.

Horrible color, hard to apply
Purchased the redwood “transparent” stain. It is neither the color of redwood nor is it transparent. This stuff goes on more like an acrylic paint. Coving most of the wood grain, and in a bright red color like a barn. Two coats are overpowering.
Did I mention it’s difficult to apply? Dries incredibly quickly, and looks splotchy after one coat, even when applying.
I just applied it last weekend, so I don’t have info on the longevity.
At $34/ gallon basically ruined my cedar deck. Do not purchase.

I recommend removing the coating across the deck, cleaning the surface with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner, and letting the surface dry before reapplying the recommended two coats of stain. Lives Up To The Hype!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have lived in our house for 8 years. 7 years ago we stained out treated wood fence with Behr Transparent Waterproofing Wood Finish in Antique Oak. I am preparing to put another coat on it, but honestly it doesn't look like it needs it. My main reason for adding the new coat is because we added another section of fence and I want it to match what we have, so we're going to re-stain everything. They say it lasts up to 6 years, but we're over 7 and it looks like it could go another 2 or 3 before really needing it.
