Extend the time before repainting
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first time that I used Behr alkyd paint was two years ago when remodeling my casita for use as a vacation rental. Having strangers as guests with quick turn arounds, I needed to minimize damages/repairs. I used the alkyd paint on the cabinet doors in the bathroom; it sprayed smoothly through an HVLP paint sprayer, leaving a smooth & flawless finish. I then painted three exterior metal doors with the same paint - same great result. My most recent project is refinishing the metal portions of an outdoor sculpture created by my husband. In addition to provide a tough and beautiful finish, this paint will withstand the extreme temperatures of the desert....

    Perfect for Cabinets
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I painted two bathroom cabinets using this paint. It was very easy to apply and has held up tremendously in a children’s bathroom. Dry time is a little longer than normal paint, but well worth the finished product.

Great Finishing with spray gun but thin the paint
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Paint finishing quality is all about surface prep and aplication, spend time on that. This paint is amazing on trims door and base boards. But use the right primer for your surface. I sprayed with the gracco gun and looks like a pro. but you need to increase the opening time for the paint by adding some curing retardant.

Forget Less is More; More is More
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used wild cranberry for my closets, and it required three coats to accurately portray the color advertised, and an additional one to be as vibrant and glossy as expected. As an aside, product images would be more helpful if tagged images of the paint brand by real people of their newly painted spaces were shared.

                        Great for cabinets
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First used this to paint my bathroom vanity and it came out beautifully. So much so I decided to redo my whole kitchen with this paint. I used with a high density foam roller and small touch up brush for hard to reach spots. Goes on smoothly with no marks from primer strokes underneath. Sanded between primer coat and paint. Easy cleanup. I am a novice to DIY and the finished product looks professional! Highly recommend.

                          Not the greatest
Used it to paint kitchen cabinets. The paint is kind of runny and not that durable. I was told by representative that I didn't have to polyurethane them because this paint would hold up to regular use. But just after a few years, chips are starting to appear. You definitely have to polyurethane them or something.

                            Creamy Dreamy!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I built a whole kitchen full of cabinet doors and drawers and was planning on using the Benjamin Moore Advance after priming. However, the paint store that had it was closed already at 4 on Saturday and closed Sunday. After a lot or research I went with the Behr Semi-Gloss Alkyd from Home Depot. It was about $20 bucks cheaper than the BM Advance and I picked out a color (Frosted Toffee S270-1) and they mixed it for me. I have a Homeright Super Finish Max Super and it worked great with no dilluting. It covered and levelled beautifully. I did two coats with sanding between. It dried to the touch in a couple of hours (dry climate) and the finish is really even and tough. I highly recommend this product!

                              Very smooth finish
Went through 3 different behr premium plus paints before got finish I wanted. First was ultra pure white enamel which left bumps on the trim. Second was cabinet and trim enamel which also did not leave a smooth surface. Finally found the urethane alkyd semi gloss enamel which had double the dry time and leveled out. Finally got the finish I wanted on the trim will definitely use again.

                                Great outdoor paint
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this paint to repaint my posts on my back porch, someone mentioned you have to be an experienced painter to use it, well I sorta agree with them! 1st of all you have to do your prep work, I power washed my posts, then cleaned them with soapy water, and a scrubby pad, scraped the old paint as well. I then primed them, some spots a few more times than others, due to being down to the bare wood. I dont care about streaks, as the posts already had them, from many years of painting before me. I painted on a 78 degree day with 55% humidity, and a nice breeze . I mentioned that because someone mentioned the paint does not dry well in high humidity. Now to describe the paint. The paint is on the thinner side, so if you load your paintbrush up with alot of it your going to have a big mess, I used a Wooster pro nylon brush, it is a thinner brush with an angle.( I actually bought it by accident...thank God I did..) I used maybe 2 cups total out of the gallon, and my posts look fabulous, they dried in about 4 hours, just a tiny but tacky, and today they feel totally dried. With my prep work I only had to do 1 coat. If something changes I'll update my review.

                                  Holds up well
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We used this paint for all of our primed mdf trim as well as an unfinished base cabinet and an exterior door with a screen door. Never had any chipping or peeling. Our vacuum scuffed the baseboards a bit but used a magic eraser on it and cleaned it up without any damage. I love how it gives a smooth finish even with brushing it on. The best part though is the price! I recommend it to anyone who needs a durable paint for cabinets, especially when they mention wanting to use one of those high-priced paint store brands.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thus paint was recommended to me by a Home Depot associate. So glad I took her advice. Didn’t want to do a whole kitchen makeover at this time so painting the cabinets made a big change to my worn cabinets. Some new hardware and I think I can live with it a few more years.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this Berh Alkyd paint to redo my kitchen cabinets. They were original to the house built in 1976. So needless to say, it was LONG overdue! I removed all of the cabinet doors, hardware and drawers. I washed everytging down really well and scuffed everything with a sanding block. The cabinets at some time had polyurethane applied. I applied the first coat with a brush. I used a roller on the cabinet facings and inside of the cabinets. I sprayed the second coat to ensure a nice even, smooth finish. Although I believe using a brush would have created the same result. My kitchen looks brand new! It is bright and fresh! I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to paint their cabinetry.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I started using this and hated it at first. When used correctly it is the absolute best. When you apply in thin coats with a foam roller you get a very nice smooth finish. No runs! No roller or brush marks! Great in all colors.

                                              Didn't turn out great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had excellent experience with Behr interior Marquee paint. I've sprayed Marquee with a HVLP sprayer and was able to get a professional-looking finish before. So I decided to give the alkyd paint a try for my exterior door. I use the same HVLP sprayer the same method for the alkyd paint but the alkyd paint came out bumpy and not a smooth finish. Also that sheen looks more like satin and not semi-gloss. Needless to say I'm very disappointed with the alkyd paint.

Response from Edith, Behr Customer CareJun 2, 2020
Hi RakS, thank you for your review, and I am sorry to hear you got a bumpy and a satin finish. As it turns out, we don't recommend using an HVLP sprayer with our products, as our coatings are too thick for it. Because of this, it may clog up the sprayer or spray unevenly. However, to fix the issue, we recommend sanding any of the bumps off. Afterward, clean the surface from any dirt or debris. Once done, reapply the paint using an airless sprayer instead. To help with this, I'll be sending you an email. Please keep an eye out for it, as it may go to your "Spam" folder. -Edith

The weather was rainy while I was painting so I gave the first coat a full day to dry before applying the second, worth the delay.
