Over $300 spent and so many hours on our deck. We did everything to prep even and it didn’t even last one year. This product just peeled up in chunks off of the deck. I am so disappointed and discouraged.

Hi Discouragedhomeowner, thank you for your review, and we're sorry to hear you're having a peeling issue in such a short amount of time. To fix it, we recommend removing any of the loose coating by sanding it off or using a pressure washer at a low setting. After the areas have been smoothed out, clean them using our cleaner. When dry, reapply the product. To help with this, please reach out to us directly; we'd love to help in any way we can. -Edith

Paint applies and covers well. Had an issue with the color. Ordered 15 gallons of Cape Cod Gray based on the pictures presented during the online order. When applied to my deck the color was bright white with no tint of gray. My newly painted white railings and PVC post weren't as white as the Cape Cod Grey.

Hi mrosati, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the color did not turn out as expected. You have the option to apply the Solid Color Stain over the DeckOver to change the color. I suggest an 8 oz. sample of the Solid Stain to test out the new color first as the colors online are not the best representation of the color. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please reach out to us directly for further assistance; our customer care team is happy to help you! -Giovanna

Thank you for reviewing DeckOver. I'm terribly sorry to hear about the peeling issue you're having so soon after application. This certainly isn't what we want our customers to go through. To fix the peeling issue, it's recommended to remove the loose coating by sanding before cleaning and touching up/recoating. I encourage you to contact Behr directly for further assistance with this matter. We'd love to help!

We painted our 30 yr-old redwood deck in 2016 with a cheaper brand of textured paint, disregarding our contractor's recommendation for Behr. The old paint peeled off and the deck now has a much nicer look. PS - Cape Cod Gray is a VERY light blue gray. The online sample is misleading. I should have read the reviews.

I purchased this last year for my front deck and rails, the deck had never been painted before and had been there for about 5 years. I followed all the directions for applying the product, looked great when done, this year it looks like terrible. The paint has peeled off in many places, large amount of it and i will need to repaint it, not worth the price and time of the original paint. I had hoped this would of lasted more than 1 season.

Hi Willi, thank you for your feedback. We're sorry We're sorry to hear your DeckOver coating is peeling; that's not the experience we want our customers to have with our products To get your project back on track, we would recommend removing all the peeled and loose coating from your surface before cleaning it with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner, allowing it to dry for at least 24 hours, and recoating it. Customer satisfaction is important to us. So, please feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team if you have any questions or need additional assistance. Have a wonderful day! -Joanna

We did our 10 x 12 deck with nearly 3 cans. It does get thick and lumpy in the sun and it is quite thick out of the can already. We still need a second coat on the floorboards. This Cape Cod Grey is a very light shade of grey and looks nearly white. It does show the dirt easily. But all in all it looks pretty and our neighbor came out and stained her deck too-jealous! We put grey pebbles in front of our deck steps so mulch wouldn’t get tracked onto the deck. Pretty good product!
i bought this deck coating at the end of the 2020 summer and it was applied by a professional. after application I found that it stains very easily from normal foot dirt and leaves. I also found that the deck gets soo warm in the sun that you cannot walk barefoot on it. I have never had this problem with previous deck paints.

Hi Theo29, thank you for your review. I’m so sorry the deck gets dirty easily and hot to walk on. I recommend cleaning the surface with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner to try removing the dirt. Also, if preferred, you can recoat in a lighter color, as lighter colors won’t retain as much heat as darker colors. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. I’ll reach out to you directly to assist you with this further. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience with us, and I hope to hear from you soon! -Joni
