500 character limit?
How can someone write a decent review with a 500 character limit? I wrote up a nice one, but it will not fit in this small space. Deck still looks good after a year, had alot more to say, but I guess I can't due to this limit on characters. Oh well. First pic was from last summer, second pick from this summer. Used Valise color.

I bought the redwood solid stain and applied it to my deck. the finish is great and the color looks rich. The stain itself is really thick and I ended up using a 4" brush for the entire job because it just didn't work well on a roller. having said that, the stain is almost like a gel and fills cracks and dings very well so you end up with a very smooth finish. I don't know if this product could be used in a sprayer due to thickness. overall I'm very happy with this stain and the final outcome.

Best porch paint EVER!! It's real thick and can be diluted a little with water. However, I wouldn't buy any other deck paint. It covers soooo well!!

    Requires 2 coats
We used this paint for a small area that gets slippery overtime when it rains. Hoping that this will help and keep our dog safe as well as ourselves. We only did one coat of paint due to the cost. We may add another coat later if we find this isn't working.

So far we are loving this paint. Beware - it took a lot longer for ours to dry than the recommended 4-6 hours. Also, check the weather! You don’t want to start this paint project unless you have a solid week of no rain and full sun. We used the color “tugboat” and am very happy with how it turned out!

Bubbles up and peels!!!! Don’t waste your money!
Horrible! Zero stars!! Worked three days on my concrete patio, power washing, sealing, etc.. all following the recommended products and directions by Home Depot and the paint bucket. The paint was allowed to dry and four days later it rained. This was a complete waste of over $1000 worth of supplies and vacation time! Do NOT buy this!

Hi Disappointed, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the bubbling and peeling on your concrete patio after using our Advanced DeckOver. To fix these areas, I recommend scraping and sanding to remove all loose paint. Then, clean the surface with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner and allow it to dry before touching up with leftover DeckOver. If needed, you can apply a full coat of DeckOver for color uniformity. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and if you need further help, please reach out to our Customer Care team directly. Enjoy the rest of your day! -Christina Behr

The DeckOver came out just beautiful! easy to use and coverage was just as noted on the bucket. My deck was in great need of being redone so some of the wood was really dried out. I put on 2 coats as suggested, it will last a long time now!

I've used this product 3 times now over the past 5 years....the product was put down over plywood initially and then just recoated every couple of years. Looks great and easy to apply. The deck I have applied it to doesn't have any exposed edges like a normal deck. So I roll it up under the flashing on the one wall and over the capping on the other sides and it never peels away and doesn't leak. This is a small deck and has very little foot traffic on it. I find that the product takes twice as much as they say it does to cover an area. Maybe I am putting it on too thick...but I use the suggested roller for the product which leaves a fair bit on the deck. I will continue to use in the future.

Was nice for first year but now not so much
Used as directed hoping to save a our deck for a few more years! Now it doesn’t dry where the deckover paint is, it’s starting to rot away. Do not use this product!

              Paint locks water Underneath
Prepare my deck as instructions on the Behr paint looked good for about two years then started to peel actually locked the water underneath of the paint and rotted out my deck which now I have to grind the paint off and replace several bad boards that I known I would’ve never use this I called there and they instructed me to use paint remover which would’ve costed way too much it would’ve killed my plants.

                Do Not Buy This Product
The majority of the reviews say that within months after application the paint cracked and peeled. Their response to everyone of these reviews is “this is not common.” This stuff is complete garbage. I hired someone who used this product to paint a very large deck. The deck is now completely ruined. The paint is peeling everywhere. I’m out a ton of money and all HD can say is sorry this isn’t common. They should be sued and should be prohibited from selling this product.

Hello, thank you for your review. I'm terribly sorry to hear your deck is peeling. Your satisfaction is our priority, and I can understand your frustration. To fix the DeckOver, I recommend removing any loose coating and cleaning the surface with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner. Once clean and dry, touch up the spots and apply a thin recoat if needed for uniformity. If the peeling is widespread, it may be best to remove the coating by sanding or power washing at a low setting. Then, clean the surface with our wood cleaner and apply two coats following the recommended spread rate once dry. Thank you again for sharing your honest experience and feedback. Please feel free to reach out to us directly so we can learn more about your project and assist you directly. We hope to hear from you soon! -Lina Behr

                  I could have cried…:’(
BEHR Premium Advanced DeckOver is a terrible product. Last summer, I painstakingly prepared and painted my deck (according to BHER’s directions) with DeckOver, and all was well until spring. As soon as the snow completely melted, I began to notice peeling. At first, I thought this may have resulted from shovelling snow months earlier, but sadly, no - the peeling has continued in new areas that weren’t shovelled. Save your time, effort and money, and go with a different product.

                    Very thick, poor coverage.
A gallon will only cover 75 sq ft with two coats. It’s thick almost like putty. It dries in the pan within minutes of starting to roll. Then you have stings of dry paint on your floor. Very expensive considering a regular gallon of paint will cover 300 to 400 square feet. If you get a color, the paint is so thick it will not blend in. You will get zebra colored walls. I ran out of paint because of the poor square footage, I showed pictures to the paint counter and the response was “it happens”.

Hi Rob8465, thank you for your review. I'm so sorry to hear about the trouble you ran into with our Advanced DeckOver. That is not the experience we want for our customers. Our DeckOver is designed to have a consistency similar to light pudding or yogurt and covers 75 sq. ft. with two coats per gallon. This is because it's a thicker and textured coating., unlike typical paint. To help extend the working time of the product, you can thin the DeckOver with up to 4oz. of water per gallon. I am concerned you mentioned the color would not blend in. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to reach out to us directly so we can learn more about your project and assist. We look forward to hearing from you! -Lina Behr

I would give it 5??, but the application and instructions were not the best and so my first two coats on the bulk of my deck could have been way easier and less wasteful.I could have gotten by with one gal.Rolling sucked! For the last portion that I saved until the first part cured I tried a pad.It was way easier and filled the cracks in my old and mostly bare decking so much better. If it doesn’t roll easily for you stop and try a pad.

                      Terrible!
This product looks great for a few weeks, then peals off in chunks. Wood underneath looks terrible, as if it was never coated. Don’t buy. See photo of deck below two years after painting. Yes, we followed all instructions for prepping and applied two coats as directed.

Do not use this product. Look up other reviews. It’s a common issue. There were even lawsuits. The application is extremely difficult. It claims to only require a couple of coats. That is not true. We prepped our deck as instructed. It’s been not even a year since we painted the deck and it is peeling and bubbling like crazy. Very expensive product that does not do as it claims. Do not buy.

                              Terrible!
We prepped the deck exactly as directed and was excited at how great it looked, that was 7/2021. After the first winter it was peeling and looking worn so 7/2022 we did some touch up but now on May 30th 2023 and it has only gotten worse. This not only was expensive to buy but it took multiple days to prep, get ready and apply which now all seems to have been a waste of time and money. I fear what this is going to cost to strip and redo as I can no longer do it myself.

                                Great for Concrete pool deck
I coated our poured concrete pool deck in June 2018 in Northern Vermont. I am about to re-coat it after 5 years even though it still looks reasonably good. I recommend DeckOver for concrete. I did not have as good a result over a pressure treated lumber deck. It looks good for a while but cannot survive over winter in areas that do not dry completely.

I did all necessary prep before painting. I ended up painting both of my front and back decks last June. As you can see the paint has not held up. I do not recommend this product.
