  • Hedge Trimmer

Had a 10 year old craftsman 18" electric trimmer that finally broke. Am I glad it did break. This hedge trimmer is the best one I have ever used. It weights about 2 lbs. more than my old one, but it is balanced better. There is NO VIBRATION and is quiet. I can trim for hours without my arms tingling. The rotating handle is somewhat useful. It does come in handy at times. Make sure you buy one with a trigger lock. Give this trimmer a try. I don't think you will be disappointed. As long as it lasts for many years I will be very Happy.

I have lots of hedges so I Know what works and this one does. Plenty of power, easy to hold, quiet, and a bonus. First, if you hold by the handle it balances almost perfect. it cuts very nice, almost professional . The bonus is if you hold it a certain way you get a breeze from the motor spinning, pretty cool. The rotating handle makes it easy to hold. If you notice this trimmer is skinny and long and the first invented ones 60 years ago were made the same way, it was for perfect balance when holding it. So it looks like the first way they invented was still the best way. Yes this one cost 20 dollars more but you will not be disappointed.

I purchased this to replace a smaller one which had stopped working. I soon as I put it to work, I immediately loved the longer reach I get with the 24 inches. I’ve only use it twice but it feels very sturdy and well built. I particularly like the rotating handle. This makes side trimming much easier and more comfortable. At this time, I am very please with the item.

I almost bought a rechargeable trimmer and am glad I didn't. The rotating handle helps with trimming otherwise hard to reach areas. Good power. The blade cuts through without any sticking.

I bought this hedge trimmer to replace my 30+ year old Skill trimmer that finally bit the dust. I have a long hedge that acts as a fence between my neighbors yard and mine. It hadn't been trimmed for quite a while and was beginning to look pretty bad. I hopped down to HD to check out what was available. As this was a medium sized hedge and the only one I have, I didn't want to break the bank for an expensive gas trimmer & I'm not a huge fan of battery powered yard tools, so that was out. This B&D seemed to have the most features and longest blade for the price. I have used it a few times since purchase and early returns are excellent. It is very easy to shift angles from horizontal to 90 degrees right, to 90 degrees left. It cuts through everything (including a couple of the neighbors fig branches... whoops!). If you have a small hedge or a few small hedges and a long extension cord, I would highly recommend this product. I wouldn't recommend for commercial landscapers.

  • Generally good, but now broken

Has worked well on our laurel hedge but after a few seasons the main gear has stripped and the blade won't cut. If I've identified the part correctly it costs 2/3 the cost of a new unit and is back ordered till November (writing this in July). What's more, the unit does not appear repairable with standard tools. Looks like it's time for a replacement.

My old B&D trimmer died so I was undecided between a cordless or electric one, since I have to trim about 35 hemlocks on my property each year. I tried my sons 20v cordless but the battery lasted 3 trees so I felt the best for me was an electric trimmer. I was skeptical of this one but the good reviews changed my mind. I'm glad I purchased it, I used it for the first time today and was able to trim about 20 trees in 2 hours. It is like cutting through butter with a hot knife using this trimmer. It is comfortable to use and light enough to comfortably cut above shoulder level. (Most of my trees avg around 6-7ft). The switch lock is nice as well as the cord lock. The cord didn't come unplugged once during my use. So far I would highly recommend this trimmer.

I only have a couple of large hedges at the beginning of each side of my walkway. This trimmer made such short work of it that I didn’t even break a sweat. I love the rotating head. All you have to do is adjust the position and you can continue to trim with comfort and ease. Thanks for an excellent product Black & Decker!
