Making precise cuts on sheet goods has always been a problem. As a hobbyist who makes a lot of furniture and cabinetry, I usually do precision cuts on the table saw. But making precision cuts on sheet goods has always been a problem. In the past I would calculate the offset and clamp a board to the plywood and hope that the board was straight and square. My norm was to cut oversize and then do the precision on the table saw, but that was not always possible. A track saw would do a much better job, but I could not justify the expense. When I got the BORA 50” NGX Clamp Edge I found I no longer had to rely on the accuracy of whatever board I happened to find. This clamp adjusts quickly and is automatically square with the surface. It holds tightly and cures most of the difficulty I had. By adding the NGX Pro Saw Plate, it allows me to use my circular saw like a track saw. Now I can rip through sheet goods precisely without calculating the offset and with the non-chip strip attached to the clamp, tear out is greatly reduced. The circular saw attaches quickly and securely to the Saw Plate with 3 locking hold downs. Once I found the proper Allen wrench, setup was easy and I was ready to saw. (Hint – it is 3mm.) Very happy with this combination and it will definitely save me a lot of time and material.

Thought I was getting Justin and guide clampdown style for for power saw ended up getting a bonus edge guide which my circular saw fits into which I thought was rather nice used it a couple times so far seems to work rather well there's a chip strip that goes with the text chance to stop the wood from chipping back if you're doing doors so you don't chip the edges makes it look clean would recommend this for anybody replacing or buying a new Edgcote clampdown style

I deserve a hard kick in the pants - for not getting one of these tools years ago. Like many DIYer, I have struggled with using a piece of extruded aluminum or angle iron and a pair of clamps to cut straight lines (hopefully) in large sheets of material. The setup was time consuming and the cut wasn't always straight. This tool virtually eliminates both of those problems. Very easy to use - with excellent clamping force - and sturdy enough to always get straight cuts. They also have a saw adapter (purchased separately) that holds the saw in a tray which slides along on top of the saw guide - eliminates the possibility of the saw drifting off track. This tool is a must have for any volume of 4X8' cutting.

So my Dad had a guide for his circular saw which was two pieces. It was a pain to setup & get straight. I ordered this guide because it was one piece & can be setup with one hand as I demonstrate in the video below. When cutting thick plywood, using one of these guides is way easier & more accurate than trying to rip the material on a table saw or using a circular saw freehand. Mine came with a sled, which can be used in conjunction with the guide to make the cutting easier & more accurate.

BORA NGX Clamp Edge Saw Guide is a quality guide for circular saws, routers and even jig saws. It is made of heavy duty aluminum with an excellent clamping method that secures the guide rail above on top of the sheet goods with an edge clamp. The handle to tighten the guide is easy to use by one person and doesn't budge at all when used with the saw. A secure fit is critical in preventing the saw from wandering off the cut. It doesn't happen often, but it can ruin the cut and I've done it. I had a shorter Rockwell guide and it wasn't nearly as well done as this one. There is an optional second section that can be joined to this 50-inch rail extending it to handle rip cut for sheet length goods, too. An advantage of this system is the excellent options that can be had, sold separately, to make it even better to use. I used my rail with their universal circular saw plate that mounts the circular saw using hold down clamps. The plate can then be slipped into the slots on the top of the aluminum rail securing it. It then works more closer to a track saw. Included with the plate is a length of 3M non-chip strip to attach to the bottom of the plate along the saw blade, reduces any top edge tear-out for a cleaner cut. This is useful for bonded veneers. Bora has similar plates for routers and a jig saws that slip into the slots on the top of the rail. Finally, I was at initially concerned about the plate being plastic. It is thick plastic and feels substantial for DIY work, all well done. I tried the rail and saw plate out with my Milwaukee cordless circular saw and it fit nicely after about five minutes of making set-up adjustments. You have to slide over the hold down rail that has two clamps and make it exactly parallel to the saw blade and lined up on the plate's blade guide. It is all easily done with allen screws and a flat slotted screwdriver. Really not a big deal, but the saw has to be accurately lined up to get a straight cut. I didn't use their non-chip tape and didn't need it for the MDF used. Overall, this is an excellent tool for crosscutting sheet goods. The rail alone is first rate and with the circular saw plate it goes quicker and is more accurate. I also own a small work-site table saw and when working alone prefer this method to cut sheet goods on two saw horses. It just is safer with my experience level and equipment setup. I feel the Bora system however you've configured it is a good value for DIY-ers to other methods.

THis is a much better system than my fist clamp on guide. The clamp on to the board section is mostly aluminum. The saw sled is mostly plastic. My only problem was locating the proper tool to get the sled to fit my circular saw. Once that was sorted out it was smooth sailing. This is much more precise than the early model I had. The light weight will also make this tool very portable. That only leaves me looking at the new battery operated saws.

This guide makes cutting sheets of plywood, oriented strand board and composite siding much easier. In my opinion, this is a must have for the DIY handyman. Matched with the saw sled, you can cut straight edges up to fifty inches. My biggest concern is that the saw sled is made of plastic and I don't know how much rough use it can handle. I have always had a problem free cutting sheet material squarely and this set up will help accomplish precise, straight edges.

JUNK
I've ruined 3 pieces of $95 plywood because this thing doesn't stay in place. Spend the money on a track saw because this isn't worth it.

Excellent little tool. I can't justify the price of a track saw for the work I do, and got tired of clamping scraps of lumber to work pieces as a guide. The adjustable over-center lever works well and doesn't get in the way of my circular saw's base plate. No flex in the edge whilst cutting that I could discern and I was able to complete several projects in 3/4" ply to 1/32" tolerances with this and a new fine cut blade.

    Clamping system sucks
Worst possible clamping design. It slides all over hell. I purchased the underside clamps for it, and they just end up in the way. Save yourself some money and build an old school rip sled for your saw or router. What a joke this Bora contraption is.

Unfortunately didn’t fit my new makita mag saw. The clipped back on makita saw made it impossible without retrofit. Bora is top of the line but, had to return.

Track works great, locks right in. Took 1 star off due to not all saws will mount to the base. User needs multiple saws available to insure a proper fit.

      Let's try this again
Perhaps HD will publish my second review as the first one wasn't very favorable and was ignored. The handle that clamps the unit to the material broke upon first use. Contacted Bora, and they quickly sent out a replacement clamp. New clamp was unassembled, which was a PITA to put together. Had to use a file on my Swiss Army Knife to get one of the little plastic braces to fit, and then hammer in the metal dowel (which did not go in easily). The clamp seems to square up easily upon clamping.

Boy did I want this system to work. The biggest fail are the “non-chip strips”. I will speak to the system as one part really doesn’t give the whole picture. The non-chip strips are the key to this system as they not only are supposed to minimize chipping they also serve the accurately position the straight edge. You actual cut the strip to match your sawblade. The strip first failed by rolling up from the end about 4 inches The mastic tape on the strip actually let loose from the plastic strip itself staying on the aluminum straight edge. It has since also lifted away half way up the straightedge. The problem appears to be the “memory” in the coiled plastic strip. Without the strips you have to measure the setback which can lead to error as well as added time. I contacted Bora and they were no help. From my communications it was apparent this issue didn’t surprise them and offered no real help after saying they were here to help. Then if you decide to purchase the 100” model you’ll need a straight edge to properly align the two sections of the 100” model. Butting them tight together I had a 1/8” bow in it. I cannot recommend this system as it stands today. If I had it to do over I’d stay with my shop built rip guides that I’ve used for more years than I’d like to count. It’s a shame as this system could be so much better, mainly the bad chip strips.

        Nice, portable saw guide
I used the BORA NGX 50-inch Clamp to first rip a small 2-inch section off of a 4-ft board, then make a cross cut to make two 2-ft boards. The clamp edge held firm and my saw made clean and straight cuts in both instances. The BORA Guide did not flex as I ran my saw base plate against the guide edge. Your mileage may vary on your circular or jigsaw if the base plate does not square up against the edge of the BORA Guide but I had no issues.
