Not completed yet but I’m very impressed.
We are waiting for our new pool/patio to be constructed before we build the pergola we bought. In the mean time I have sealed all of the wood members and columns and initially installed some of the metal hardware. The quality of the lumber is excellent and the mill work on the individual pieces is very well done. The customer support team has been very helpful so far in answering every question that I have had, and we are really looking forward to having this beautiful addition to our back yard completed soon.

Great product, looks fantastic as a surround for our hot tub. It took us 3 people to put together so I’d plan to have some help. directions were easy to follow and the cabana is super sturdy!

Very nice kit and all pieces fit together perfectly. Hardware is also very nice and thorough. Would have given 5 stars except that the packaging is absolutely horrible. Multiple pieces came chipped, nicked and scratched up. I did however repair and apply an all in one stain and sealer before assembling, which came out absolutely beautiful and i highly recommend! Also the shipping carrier was pretty bad with communication on delivery. Aside from these 2 things, the pergola is excellent.

Fairly easy to assemble. The directions were straight forward and easy to understand. Definitely a two person job. I’m especially impressed with how solid and sturdy the finished product came out. The pergola is a welcome addition to our deck.

Assembled the pergola for installation on our deck that is 15 feet above ground. This required additional hardware I had from a previous build. The wood is good quality. We used Sherman-Williams colored stain. One seat support sub-assembly required needed trimming to fit. Assembly time was much more than 8 hours probably because of the added time needed to make it a stable platform and because I was attaching wrought iron railing around the deck and connecting it to the pergola. The only negative thus far is I would have preferred solid wood post rather than hollow ones.

Fairly easy to assemble, pretty good instructions and all parts fit well. I liked that there was additional hardware parts included with the package in case something was wrong or broken. I did have a long bolt bent but there was an extra one included so I could complete the installation and not have to wait on parts. The wood is not the best quality and the stain is very thin.

Great pergola, well made and the instructions are very straight forward. However, the 9 ft by 12 ft is very misleading. It appears some other reviews assumed that to be each side as well. Each side is about 7.5 ft by 7.5. That needs to be more clear and this would be a 5-star review.

This product is a little underwhelming for the price. The posts aren’t solid, and some of the hardware was missing. Also, it comes already stained but a water seal coating is required as part of the warranty. Overall it’s an average product.

Beautiful Pergola With Easy-to-follow Instruction
Overall, we love our new pergola and are getting huge compliments from our neighbors. It definitely takes two people to assemble it. The stain color is beautiful, although there were a few places on the wood that weren't completely stained -- one was in a very visible spot, so we're having to fix it with a stain marker. The instruction guide was easy to follow, with only a couple small hiccups when we discovered that a pack of bolts that we needed was missing. Customer service was super fast in resolving the issue for us, so no complaints there! I hope the pergola wears well, as we really like the current look. The seating also is well done, although the back pillows would benefit from more stuffing. Overall, a thumbs up in our book! The pergola is a great addition to our yard.

Love it! Many compliments from neighbors. High quality wood, design and manufacturing. Fits great on a 12 x 12 patio where you don’t want to get too close to the house due to awkward roof lines, patio door and window placement. Applied a log home wood sealer before assembling.

Wonderful addition to our pool area!
I love this cabana - the quality of workmanship is outstanding. My fiance' put it together over a weekend with very little help, the instructions were great. Would have given it a 5 star review, my only recommendation to Backyard Discovery, is the back cushions need just a little more fill in them. If there was a 4.5 rating, this is what I would have given, as other than this one, minor detail, could not be happier!

Actually 7x10 not 9x12
Look at the blueprints carefully. The part you sit in/under, the base, is 7 feet 4 and a half inches with a 10 foot plus openeing. The 9x12 is the top measurements from tip of overhanging beam to beam...see their own posted blueprints. Misleading calling it 9x12....

The pergola is well made and is very nice as advertised. Looks great and I would recommend this pergola.One downside was boxes arrived damaged and an end of a box open. No parts missing though.

The quality of the Chinese Cedarwood is fair. It also has a unique scent that smells more like pine than cedar. The stain is a nice color but only a light stain that scratches easily and does not contain a sealer to better protect from outdoor weather. The posts are not solid, but are two notched out 4x4s glued together. My experience with this product has been very costly, time consuming, and frustrating.

Backyard Discovery uses 100% Chinese Cedarwood which is naturally bug resistant, decay and rot-resistant. To help ensure your child’s safety, our wood is completely chemical-free and we do not use pressure-treated wood. Chinese Cedar is part of the cypress family of woods and is a close cousin of the Western Red Cedar. You are correct that you will need to put a clear sealant on the wood. It is a key part of the warranty and it does not come with a sealant as we have yet to figure out a formula that would work well in all climates from desert to snow.
