Barton Kramer products are very versatile in the respect that you can use them on multiple applications with other competitors windows. Although, I admit, it is not recommended to do so, over the years I've discovered that by modifying the window frame in one way or another you can make older windows work again!

Works great as replacement of a 50 yr old opener

Function as designed. Cranks will strip and fail when over tightened. Trying to get windows completely closed risks failure.

This is what you need for the old jalosy windows. Take your old crank with you to make sure you get the right one as there is a big assortment. Extremely easy to install.

Out of 12 only one didn't work. It broke on the first opening of the window. The others worked well. HD stood behind them and replaced it without any trouble.

Replaced by PGT window operator, perfect fit, and good operation. I notice some come pre-greased but this one did not so I greased the main gear and worm screw.

Worked well to fix our window and easy to install.

It is the wrong part for my window. May I return it?

I rated this product a 3 because it does not come with all parts necessary - you have to reuse the screws and connector to the mechanism. These are manufactured with the hole spacings varying in small increments. Most of the choices are on a display, but you have to know the side of the window (Rt or Lft) and the relationship of the holes. Take the old one of you can. Note that you have to unscrew the handle part from the mechanism - but no replacement screw is provided, so either buy one or save the old one. You will probably need to apply penetrating oil to back the screw out of the hole as it will probably be rusty on the exposed end. Once the old crank is removed, the replacement goes in fairly easily. Fasten the working arm first (careful, don't drop the screw), then the screws into the window frame. Start all 3 a few turns, then tighten them a few turns each in order. Be careful not to overtighten them. Adjust the handle to the position you want it to rest in, then tighten that set screw and you are done.
