This is an awesome product. I set out to build my own folding bench until I stumbled on this item. The only thing I could wish for is maybe slightly larger lag bolts for studs but I'm being picky. The supplied hardware is very solid, and well sized given its 300 pound load capacity. The bench is very stout, strong, extremely well thought out and super stable. Installation took just under 2 hours working alone. The table surface is excellent maple given the price point. You just need to make sure your outermost mounting studs are not closer than 6" to an object like a wall corner or door. I love having the flexibility to maximize space in the garage for vehicles or open the table up when more horizontal space is needed during projects.

I wanted a work bench in the heated pole building that I house my motorhome but I didn't think of it until the building was completed. This foldaway workbench works great for the limited space that I have. Now I have somewhere to do projects in the winter. Brad Wisconsin

I just received the bench. As far as 1.5" thick, only the outer 2.5 to 2.75" edge is 1.5" thick? The rest of the table is only 3/4"? If you watch Bench Solutions Installation video on their web site you will see that underneath there is quite a big difference in thickness! A little misleading?

We're using the workbench inside a 20' ISO shipping container that's converted into a shelter for a bunch of electronic equipment. I used some 1/4-20 bolts into Unistrut that's welded to the sides of the container. Seems to hold up OK. I needed the fold-down to free up space while we are shipping the container. The fold-down design is very good, the mechanism is quite clever and safe to operate (no risk of the surface crashing down if it's bumped). Assembly instructions were a bit difficult to follow at times.
I wasn't happy with the quality of the wood surface, however. It seems very soft, and was damaged in transit (see images). The side damage was caused by the nylon straps used to hold the cardboard box. The damaged corner is very visible, to the point where we had to take some additional steps to cover it up. Also, the surface seems easily damaged. I had some loose screws on the table, with a tool box resting on top - this was enough to leave a visible dent. Perhaps I got a particularly soft batch of wood? I expected a workbench to be more rugged.
My solution is to add some rubber bumpers (McMaster 11165A31 and 11165A34) all the way around, to cover up the damage. I then covered the surface with a sheet of polycarbonate to prevent further damage.
Curiously, the product listing indicates the load rating is 400 lbs, while the sticker on the frame clearly states the load must not exceed 300 lbs.

WOW, what can I say? This was a lifesaver for me! I am what I call a work bench guy and I've gone without one for over 4 years and missed it. I have a 3 car garage, but also have 3 cars so space is VERY limited. I don't want a work bench that takes up a ton of space and is ALWAYS taking up a ton of space so when I found this one, I had to have it! It's a bit time consuming to install but once you get the three wall pieces up and level, it's smooth sailing and IMO, the instructions made complete sense and I had no stumbling blocks. Once assembled, you grab the bench and lift up and then set it down and it locks, to release, you pull the handles towards you, lift up a bit and then down and bam, done! It's well made, and comes with EVERYTHING you need to install it!
Again, it's a bit time consuming to install, but not impossible! (it didn't help that my 4 and 6 year old boys were out there "helping" me! ;)
Looks to be a very sturdy work bench. Package is heavy and requires a fair amount of assembly prior to mounting on the wall. Would recommend having a second person to help. Looks great once installed. Did not come with assembly instructions but can be found online pretty easily. The foldaway function is really nice to have in a garage that is not oversized and works well. Platform holds a lot of weight if installed properly
Great folding workbench. I needed more room in my garage and decided that if I keep my workbench neat and tidy that would help... but whats better is a folding workbench.
It really opens up the space allowing me to get my truck in the garage. And if forces me to clean up (and not just pile things on) my workbench.
I decided to put my old workbench top ontop of the included bench solution wood top. Only because my old workbench top was still in good shape and I do tend to get paint, burns and cuts in the top of my workbenches.
Very high quality, installation was a tad on the advanced side but not overwhelming for anyone who is handy with a tool & stud finder. It is helpful to have a 2nd set of hands from time to time during the install.
