I used Bonide Bontone Rooting Powder to propagate my purple passion plant. The cuttings developed roots within a week. I did water and potting mix propagation, Bonide worked for both methods.

This product probably works on other plants, but not on gardenia.

Less than half jar powder and unsealed?
This is my first time buying rooting powder. Does it always come in a jar unsealed and with only less than half way powder? I don’t want to go back to the store again during this pandemic. Just hope that I didn’t take a returned item from someone else.

Today I'm going to take several cuttings of a suclant groundcover. Normally a rooting hormone isn't necessary but using a rooting hormone should hasten rooting and shock to the plant. I'll demonstrate the process in photos. A picture is worth a thousand words. The process begins with the soil I'll be using. I have mixed lomey dirt form my yard with coconut fiber, purchased on line from Home Depot. The coconut fiber will help maintain moisture. After mixing the soil I added Kellogg's potting mix, purchased at Home Depot. The potting soil contains perlite and a small amount of federalize. Cuttings will be made just below a node then scraped slightly with a sharp knife across the nodes and down the stem. Then a dip into the rooting hormone. Note that the rooting hormone coated the stem and nodes very well

I used it to plant a plumeria cutting I bought from the airport in Hawaii. I planted it 6/20/18, almost a month ago,and it is already growing leaves...needless to say it has roots too. So far so good, the cutting still looks very healthy. I live in San Diego, California and we have great weather here so that might have helped also. I've attached a picture.
