These bits were a huge upgrade from my junk other brand bits. They do cut much faster than a standard bit with the flat edges. The only thing I did not like was it did not come with a 1-1/2” bit or come with a case. I ended up using the case from my old set.

Use these things like cereal and milk. They work great for whatever holes you need to make.

Ive been using these spade bits pretty exclusively for the past 5 years. They are very sharp threaded bits that just pull their selves through the material. I have on occasion twisted the shaft on the larger sized bits going into hard material or using a larger drill most of the time it being user error. The only other precaution I would suggest to people is to be aware that with these self feeding bit if you intend on doing a specific depth or controlled drill it is very hard to keep them from going too deep . With that being said for rough drilling and speed these are the best ive used in a spade bit setup.

This set of DareDevil bits easily crack the wood with the thread cone. Unlike other spade bits without threads on the cone (a.k.a paddle bits), the DareDevil cone push the wood to the sides when the thread goes in, while the "paddle bits" cut a small hole with the blade on the tip. The DareDevil bit drives much faster, but almost always cracks my wood open and leaves the entire piece unusable. So I would not recommend.

I used this to drill a hole for two Z-Wave recessed security door sensors. The doors were engineered or soft lumber so it had no problem. It almost drills a little too fast so be careful. The next job was to find a stud under a hardwood floor (pine) that was being removed. The guide screw at the top of the bit broke off making the bit useless as it cannot even get started. I think this bit should be able to last more than two simple light jobs.

These Bosch Daredevil Spade Bits are the fastest bits I've ever used. They chew through wood incredibly fast, at least two to three times faster than my previous spade bit set. They bore clean holes through stud grade lumber and pressure treated lumber. The bonus bits are great for the price. All the bits also come with a thin coat of oil on them to prevent rusting which I appreciate.
The larger bits can be tough on my brushed drill that's a few years old, but it still gets through everything. The aggressive speed can be draining on the drill/battery if you don't have a powerful drill.

Not quite an auger bit, but so much better than a standard spade/paddle bit: It pulls itself along nicely, cuts fast, and fits into a standard hex screw driver holder extension. But in drilling a nine inch horizontal bore through old growth wood, I had to back it out several times to clear the chips. A minor issue with a VSR drill.

These bits might be good for someone else but I did not like the fact that it bored itself into the wood. It produced holes with blowouts on both sides of the wood. It also went so fast that it caused some pieces to splinter.
