Inspect the packaging before purchasing. This was the 3rd open box item I unknowingly paid full price for at Home Depot in the last 2 weeks. If it’s labeled open box and sold at an open box price, cool. When it isn’t labeled but sold at full price, that’s a party foul. Shame on me for not seeing the missing packaging tape and piece of the box flap already removed. This was an annoying purchase.

This cross line laser comes in so handy for a number of things. It's great for hanging pictures, keeping things in alignment as you fasten and ensuring what you're fastening remains level. Would I buy this if I were a contractor, maybe, for indoor renovations it would work but not so much outdoors. It's a must buy for homeowners and DIYers, though.

Bought this to level out a floor but it really is only useful for small jobs. The 30ft distance in the dark may be good but you will shell out a hundred bucks more for the one you can see in broad daylight. The only recourse is to do this in the late afternoon to nights to actually see the line. I can see why this is more of a value laser light especially when it's on a sale price. The included mount is super useful on hanging it from a pole, any pole will do. It is super bright up to about 10 ft, after that it levels off. If the area does not have any day light you can see pretty well to 20ft. I would say 30ft is a stretch. If you need something stronger shell out for the GCL2-160 but do not be warned for the sticker shock. Too bad Bosch doesn't have anything more powerful for the layman DIYer.

The laser level itself is user friendly and lightweight. The red laser is accurate and bright enough to see in a 10' X 8' bathroom illuminated by two recessed LED lights (65 watt equivalent, 800 lumens). I am doing a full renovation of my kid's bathroom, to include subway tiles in the tub/shower, and 12"x24" ceramic tile on the floor, with 1/8" grout lines. The laser is sharp and clear. The button on top of the housing is easy to press, which quickly changes the laser from the default cross-hair to a single vertical line to a single horizontal line. The reason for the 4-star rating is the struggle with the included clamp. Not having a tripod, I either put the level on top of an upside down 5 gallon bucket or the floor. But, when I need to make adjustments, I attach the clamp to a piece of 1x4 and straddle that across the right-side-up bucket, because the the clamp doesn't close tight enough to stay put on the side of the bucket. The other frustration is having to adjust the vertical arm to raise/lower the laser, while keeping the weight of it close to center over the clamp. Otherwise, the laser housing is too top heavy and falls over.

Works as advertised I am happy. This laser level shoots out two lines, to make a 90degree angle. There are markings on the front, or back depending on how you look at the level, for producing straight lines on an angle. I mainly use this with my 4' and 6' levels when I resaw scrap wood that I have. I use this to make sure I have a straight line, then I draw the line. For me working from the furthest distance to the laser was the best way to trace the line. I found that if I started from the laser and worked my way out, the line is impossible to see as my hand covers it up. The box started there are suction cups, but I did not find them to provide much suction, does not stick to any surfaces that is why it lost a star. To me they are good for case when you have to raise the level slightly

i don't know how long this has been on the market, but I wish I would have gotten one years ago. It is great for hanging shelves and pictures. I am not a handyman, I need all the help I can get. The laser is only bright right in the middle of th"x", but it is more than visible to get the job done indoors. I doubt it would be much use outside. The included clamp is intuitive, and was invaluable for the project I used the level for. Usually those little extras that come with a product are completely worthless, so at first I dismissed the clamp as addon junk. But I soon realized it was exactly what I needed to get the level pointed at the angle that I needed it. I am very pleased. If I built houses or was a contractor of sorts, I might get an upgraded version of this model, but for around the house this is perfect.

A few months ago, I bought a traditional laser level that you put in place and then adjust until it's actually level. In other words, it's a pain in the butt to use. In fact, the last time I used it, I thought, "Man, I wish there were a laser level that would level itself." Then, I found the Bosch GLL 2 Self-Leveling Cross-Line Laser Level with Clamping Mount at Home Depot. This awesome tool provides a compact solution to my frustration with my old laser level. To use it, all I have to do is: 1) set the level on the clamping mount or a traditional camera tripod; and 2) push the only button on the tool to turn it on. Yes, you read that correctly: there is only one button on the level. Push it once to turn on both the horizontal and vertical lasers, push it a 2nd time to switch to just the horizontal laser, push it a 3rd time to turn on just the vertical laser, and push it a 4th time to turn it off. There is also a switch to control whether the automatic leveling is on or off. When the switch is set in the unlocked position, the automatic leveling is on and will work so long as "the tool is within the self-leveling range of ±4° from the horizontal plane." Alternatively, if the switch is set in the locked position, "the tool can be held by hand or placed on an inclined surface." For best results, use the automatic leveling if you're working on a horizontal or vertical plane, but turn off the automatic leveling if you want to use the laser lines to work on an angle. According to the instructions, the laser is accurate up to ±3/16" at 30 feet. I've used it at up to 15 feet, checking it against an old-school "bubble" level, and it is still level at 8 feet from the intersection of the horizontal and vertical planes. Beyond that point, simply to ensure accuracy, I recommend turning whatever you've mounted the level on (the included mount or a tripod). The included mount is a wonderful addition to this already-useful tool. The jaw of the holder can be used to clamp onto objects between 3/16 and 2-3/8 inches thick, and the ball/socket joint allows for the laser to be set at any angle you need. If you prefer, though, you can also attach the laser to a standard tripod using the built-in threaded hole.

Super easy to use and the clamp works really well. This level can throw a cross, horizontal or vertical line a very long distance. The self-leveling feature is also handy, especially for the vertical line. My only disappointment was that it will only throw the horizontal line at the same height as the tool when you put it into self-level mode. I ended up using my small, digital level to level the top of the tool so that I could adjust the height of the horizontal laser line on the wall. Alternatively, you could also check the level of the line on the wall as well with a box level, or simply clamp the tool at the appropriate height.

Awesome Lightweight Self-Leveling Cross Line Laser. Used this to lay tile this weekend. Very easy was to make sure lines are level both horizontal and vertical. Also used to make sure a hardwood floor transition was square. Portable and takes AA batteries. There are many more uses for this. the price is extremely affordable.

Used this square to install both the hardwood and tile floors in my master bedroom. Could not have gotten the results I did with out it. Great quality produce and very easy to use. 5 stars

complete garbage, useless for vertical applications - shape makes adjustments impossible in wall corners. I bought it today and will return it today.

There’s one thing bad about it and that one thing is a big deal. The laser body has two tabs intended to fix it to the wall. Bosch includes two precut 3m stickers to put on the bottom of those tabs, so that when you push the tabs in the sticker, presumably, should stick to your surface. In a construction environment full of dust, those two stickers become useless, rendering the square pretty much useless as well. The yellow competitor uses tacks… now that makes sense. I’d return it if I could.

Weak laser was extremely disappointed in product strongly would not recommend it

Could only see the laser lines when turning the lights off. Very disappointed. Will be returning it.

I bought this last week to put simple lines down on a floor. The lines are so weak. I had to turn the lights completely off just to barely see them. Not a very useful tool. Will be returning immediately and looking for something of a higher quality. This thing should only be sold at a Dollar Store at a discounted price. Bosch, you folks need to go back to the drawing board and try again.

If you think this will stick to walls, be assured it won't. I tried it with smooth drywall, and it fell, cracked the trim below, and broke.

Laser seems to be accurate. As far as visibility of the laser I give it a very poor rating as you lose sight after about 10 feet maybe less.
