Was a little concerned when ordering online without seeing it, but happy with the purchase. Installation was straightforward. Fairly modern appearance. Gives a nice bright white light. Exhaust fan does a good job of removing moisture and is much more quiet than the unit we replaced. Overall satisfied.

One of the worst fans I have ever owned. That is second Nutone fan I own and it terrible just like the other one. Very loud, to the point that no one wants to use it. They look modern and nice but terrible performance/noise Would not recommend to anyone. Will never buy this brand again

Installing the body and the fan were fine - however, when it came time to put the grille/light on (last step) is when this product completely went down the toilet. The spring clip attachment design is about the worst piece of engineering ever! I'm a professional, not an inexperienced homeowner. I futsted with this thing for over an hour (time is money) and NO WAY could get this to work right. The instructions were completely useless here. Ok, so when all else fails go to a video. Wrong. Even the NuTone video quickly glossed over that part! I guess because they did not want to show how silly this thing is! (or they could not do it themselves!). Finally, I snapped off the plastic cover over the LED light part, drilled some holes in the corners of the grille, screwed the grille into the ceiling and snapped the LED cover back on - took me about 5 minutes (see attached photo). WHY the manufacturer did not come up with a simple method like this beats me. The spring clips are an extremely poor design. Did they ever even test this at all in real-life circumstances??? The fan and light work very well and the home owner is very happy with it. However, the sum of all the parts is what counts and the grille attachment just kills an otherwise fine product. I cannot in good conscience recommend such a poor design when there is just no reason for it. Hence, I have to give it one star. Fix this and I would say five stars.

i cant speak to the ease of installing it as ny contractor fixed it. But love the sleek look, bright light and sound of the fan is almost quite.

The installation was typical of a bathroom exhaust fan where no fan existed and there was a need for more light. The light was simple to wire into the existing bathroom lighting. The lighting is evenly distributed around the room. The fan was wired to a timer. When choosing the timer make sure you choose one that will work with the low wattage the fan motor draws. The fan vents well and is very quiet.

Easy to install, older houses make sure you have the room for the fan housing as original ones are usually smaller, l. Our house us built in 84 so there was a huge size difference, but the vent fan works perfect, led lights are amazing, bright enough to use without the regular bathroom vanity lights if so desired. Would definitely recommend.

Straight forward to install, smooth operating. Nice fan and light.

With a close look it had tabs for easier installation. Cover was well suited for hiding fan. Fan is quiet. Light is bright with a nice bright modern look!

Excellent fan, looks modern, moves lots of air. Our mirrors are rarely foggy and its pretty quite. No insight on the install. Our contractor took care of that.

Fan easily comes out to make installation easy. Once the fan is removed, the product is very light. Comes with everything needed for installation. This replaced an existing fan and we were able to fit the exhaust into the existing vent. The light isn't very bright, so it shouldn't serve as the only light in a larger bathroom. The fan is very quiet yet seems to have good airflow.

I replaced an existing bathroom fan/light with this one. I had to enlarge the cutout somewhat to accommodate the 9.75" x 10.5" housing. I had to take care with the dimensions of the cutout and trimming the edges neatly because the edges of the cutout are visible through the vents in the side of the grill. The grill is a larger-then-usual 13" square. I had enough play in the existing 4" duct and wiring that I was able to install the housing and connect the duct and the wiring from below. The fan and light can be wired to switch independently or together. Once installed I was pleased with how bright the light was and how quiet the fan was.

I was so tired of my old noisy Nu-tone exhaust fan, it sounded like the train passing by my house and it had been that way since new. I did my homework before getting another bathroom fan and this one seemed a real good fit for what I wanted - very quiet running and a bright LED light. The fan-motor assembly runs much slower than my old fan, yet it easily pulling out twice the air flow - and the result of the lower speed motor and squirrel cage fan it is a quiet running Exhaust Fan. I can still hear the air moving along with a mild hum sound, but it is dramatically quieter than what I removed. I think it really does run at 1.5 Sones (sound level) using the 4” exhaust pipe. Many older bath fans run at 4 or more Sone and have 3” exhaust pipe. I think mine was more like 8 or even 10 Sones. The motor assembly looks better built than any I've seen before. It is easily removable to clean or replace as needed - only two easy to remove screws hold it in place with two plastic clips in same place. The LED light is very bright - I'd say it's about the same as an 80 watt light bulb. It will light up your bathroom. The overall design of this exhaust fan is excellent comparing to the earlier models I've used. In order to achieve the appropriate sound level it will require from you to use 4” exhaust pipe, do not reduce to 3”, if you use 3” as most houses come with your sound level will go up.

Love that the engineers have designed this product to have the components serviceable and repairable from the inside. The fan motor even has a conventional 2-prong plug so it can be tested as a subsystem. Wish the lighting plug(s) were so well designed instead of a proprietary plug; but that is an opportunity for improvement. Of course, always be careful with moving parts and electricity.

This NuTone unit made updating my old fan a breeze. The oversized unit meant I could use the bigger hole to get at a bathroom with no attic access. Now the bathroom vents quickly, fan isn’t overbearingly loud and the lighting is incredibly improved. Here’s what you should know. Pros: 1.) Installation is a breeze. The box allows you to secure it a few different ways. Since you pull everything out of the box for installation you can get at things from any angle 2.) The light is exceptionally bright. In retrospect, I wish I rewired the bathroom to tie it into the vanity lights (though my wife is still against the idea) 3.) Moves a lot of air. I included a picture comparing my dryer which uses 4 inch exhaust pipe to this guy whose run was unfortunately already done for 3 inches. Very close! 4.) It’s quite without being noiseless. Some people like a loud bathroom fan – I prefer to install solid core doors. Your bathroom related noise cancelation strategy is up to you 5.) Not a problem if you don’t have attic access. The oversized unit means you get to open up a big hole in the ceiling allowing you ample access to get in there and do what you need. Cons: 1.) It’s silly – but a template for cutting the hole would have been nice. I didn’t see anything referenced as being the right size and I don’t like using the unit itself. Not a problem to mark and cut though. 2.) I wish instead of securing to one rafter, there was a bar allowing me to spread the weight across two. It seems strong enough but I don’t know if it’ll flex down over time

Out of the box this feels like a quality unit. Includes everything you need and instructions are very easy to follow. I'm currently finishing my laundry room so my installation was easy as there is no ceiling yet. However I read enough about it that installing in an existing ceiling should be just as easy. Everything went together nicely, wiring was a breeze, and it pushes a nice steady stream of air. My only issue was the door on the outlet did not stay closed. It was not weighted enough at the bottom and so it would stay open all the time. Not normally a problem but I'd prefer it stay closed so when the vent is off in the winter it's another barrier to cold air seeping into the house from outside. I fixed this very simply - I used gorilla glue to glue a dime to the bottom of the door. Problem solved. Door opens easily when fan is on, and door closes perfectly when off. The light is a nice feature as well, and it barely uses power so I don't mind if it stays on or not. The unit can be wired so you have a separate switch for the light and fan, but I don't mind them being on the same switch. Just personal preference.

The Nutone InVent exhaust fan and light is one of the better built bath exhaust fans I have found. The only weakness I have found is the grounding. The ground wire in the InVent is riveted within the electrical wiring for the fan motor and then uses the harness clip to "carry" the ground to the metal exhaust fan chassis. Otherwise everything in this fan is very well constructed. -The fan and motor is well isolated from the exhaust fan box so there is no vibration or humming. - Most of the parts of the fan is made of well constructed plastic making it great for high moisture exhaust such as a shower - nothing to rust. - The LED is a track light system providing and even balance of light around the fixture. The color is equivalent to incandescent 3000k - warm white. Light output is sufficient for a tub/shower area. Installation: NEW INSTALL - It is pretty straight forward to install in new construction. No special bracing is needed however it should be secured to a joist or an added 2 X 4. - You can wire the light and fan separately. RETRO-FIT or POST CONSTRUCTION INSTALL - The InVent can be installed in a retro-fit. The InVent is design as such so that everything can come out of the exhaust fan box only leaving the box itself. This helps with securing the box above the finished ceiling. Also helps not having the added weight of the fan and motor while trying to mount the box. - The average homeowner can install this with basic tools and knowledge of electricity. The instructions are thorough for the electrical wiring for the fan and light. Overall - the Nutone InVent fan is a nice exhaust fan/light system. The instructions come in 3 languages (french, spanish, english) and are easy to follow for the two types of installs I mentioned above. My install was a retro-fit, replacing a light only in my shower to the Nutone light and vent. I had a recessed can type fixture. Removing my old fixture and carrier, re-cutting the opening in the ceiling to fit the InVent wiring and ductwork for the exhaust took 1-1/2 hours. I tee'd my InVent duct to the duct from the toilet exhaust fan (which has a backdraft damper and already had a roof termination)

The fan that I had was a very old one. I had to enlarge the hole to fit this new fan. The fan box was easy to install. The vent had to be run new, as there was no vent on my old one. The vent was the hardest part to install for the fan. I hooked up the vent to the new fan as per the instructions. I then followed the instructions to finish installing the new fan. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The fan works great. The light works great as well. It is very bright. This fan is an excellent choice for a new install as well as a replacement.

We were remodeling a bathroom and shower. The shower never had an exhaust fan in it which caused problems with moisture on the sheet rock over the years. We loved the style of this exhaust fan and the LED surround light is fantastic. It's soft lighting but bright. The old light was very dim. The contractor doing our remodel installed it without any problems, connecting it to a close vent through the roof. Thought we would let the professionals do this installation for us. The exhaust fan is very quiet.

I've had this model for about 5 years when we remodeld our bathroom. The unit has performed nicely until I noticed 1/4 of the LED strip stopped working. I just contacted technical support at NuTone and they quoted $170 for a new LED strip - ouch! I declined since a new model is $130.

Once we received a working fan housing it works like a charm. Quiet fan and good output of brightness from thr LED.

this was an absolute disaster....I purposely ordered this model this particular model to replace an older NuTone fan/light combo that also had a 13 1/4" grill-----the fit is not even close. I should have left the non-working one in place, because this is certainly not a retrofit item. Room Side installation? Looks like I'll be heading up to the attic, since it's the only way I'll be able to get it to sit flush with the ceiling....if that is even possible. I've replaced 3 other fans in my life with the issues this one has caused, and I'm super-disappointed in this.

We got this to replace our old fan which wasn’t doing the job and we were having mold issues. This clears condensation quickly but is noisier. Not a deal-breaker, but not as quiet as we thought it would be.

We bought this exhaust fan for one of our main bathrooms. Overall we liked the product, however the LED light did not work at all. Could not diagnose whether it was the driver/DC transformer or the LED lights themselves. Luckily I've learned to test the fan and lighting first before proceed with a complete install, otherwise I would have been stuck with a working fan but no light.

Fan is quiet, but not too quiet. Removes the moisture from the air very effectively.

Easy to install and after one month we are very satisfied. It is quiet enough that the fan cannot be heard over the sound of the shower running. The light is bright and even. The fan is powerful enough to quickly remove moisture from our small bathroom

The reason we replaced our old exhaust fan with this was because of loud noise. Lot of reviews stated it was quiet. I don’t know if there are some defected ones but this is loud. So bummed because it costed us $350. Our handy man charged $200 for it. Looked like a lot of work to install.
