Marshy wild is a great medium brown tone
I purchased 5” Hickory Marshy Wild Medium Glass and am so happy with how it looks. We are still installing it, so I can’t speak to the durability or how it wears. The installation has been okay, some of the boards are bowed or not uniform in width so adjustments need to be made. The color is an overall medium brown tone with a lot of variation in shades of brown - lots of tans to dark browns. There are many boards with knots and darker spots to give it character. Overall very pleased with the quality and appearance.

Major Drop in Quality Compared to Two Years Ago
We originally installed Plano Marsh Oak solid hardwood flooring in our sunroom about two years ago, and we were extremely happy with it. The flooring looked great, installed well, and held up beautifully. Unfortunately, after some recent flooding damaged part of the floor, we needed to replace approximately 100 square feet. The new boxes we purchased in 2026 were shockingly poor quality compared with the flooring we originally installed. Many of the boards were extremely wormy and had insect or worm holes throughout them. One board even had what appeared to be a dried cocoon still attached to it. Numerous boards were twisted or warped badly enough that they could not reasonably be installed. Others had large splits running significant portions of the length of the board. After sorting through everything, I would estimate that roughly one third of the flooring was completely unusable, another third was questionable enough that we had to carefully decide where or whether to use it, and only about one third was what I would consider good quality hardwood flooring. Some natural variation, knots, and minor defects are expected with real hardwood, and I actually appreciate the character of natural wood. This went far beyond normal variation. When you are buying 22 square feet per carton but potentially getting only a fraction of that in boards you actually want to put on the floor, the value disappears very quickly. What makes this particularly disappointing is that we already have the same Plano Marsh Oak flooring from two years ago and know how good it can be. The older flooring has been excellent. Based on the boxes we received in 2026, however, there appears to have been a significant decline in quality control. If you are buying this flooring, I would strongly recommend purchasing considerably more than your calculated square footage and inspecting every board before installation. Based on our recent experience, the normal allowance for waste may not be nearly enough.

    Hi there,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we're sorry to hear about the flooding damage that led to your repair project.

We appreciate your past support and are pleased to hear that you were satisfied with the Plano Marsh Oak flooring installed two years ago. We understand how disappointing it can be when a new purchase does not meet your expectations, especially when you're comparing it to material from a previous production run.

As a natural hardwood product, Plano Marsh Oak will contain variations in grain, mineral streaks, knots, color, and other naturally occurring characteristics that contribute to the floor's unique appearance. However, boards that are significantly warped, split, or otherwise unsuitable for installation should be set aside during the installation process.

We would also note that matching flooring manufactured years apart can present challenges, as natural hardwood characteristics such as patina can result in differences in appearance.

Thank you again for your feedback. When we fail to meet your expectations, it is important for us to know. We value your business and appreciate you sharing your observations. AHFProducts
      Don’t buy
We bought 40 boxes of Bruce hickory and fought with it-splits damaged or no tongue, stains and probably 50percent waste-called Bruce directly and were told Home Depot exclusive and deal with it that’s what it is-returned 20 boxes and have 3 boxes of bad stuff which we are going to try and use in closets and under kitchen cabinets

      Hi there!

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your experience with the flooring and the amount of unusable material you encountered. The Plano Collection is a character-grade hardwood product, designed to showcase more natural wood variation and rustic characteristics. However, damaged boards and splitting can certainly impact installation and cause frustration. We appreciate your comments as when we fail to meet your expectations it is important for us to know. Several pieces per box were discolored with half of the boards having broken tongues or ends. Needed to order 35% more that we needed in order to complete the job. We needed to remove half of the flooring due to milling defects being less or more than 5". Very disappointed.

I'm sorry that you were disappointed by your Bruce Plano Solid 5" Marsh AHS5134. The Plano Collection is part of Bruce’s Common Grade category which features a greater amount of visual character such as wider color and grain variation, mineral streaks, knots and small holes. This type of character is deemed acceptable in this product. With that said if you feel like there are manufacturing issues with your floor you may reach out to the store where you purchased the product as they are authorized to initiate a claim on your behalf to have your concerns investigated.

          Feels good underfoot
I put the plano marsh in a bedroom last year and it still looks new. So, now I'm DIY'g the main floor, living room, dining room and hallway. I like the more rustic look of this grade of floor. Knots, streaks, color variations give it the character I admire about wood. It's imperfect, just like us! Going together easy and feels good underfoot. I do have a few reject boards, and a few end tongues were cracked, preventing a tight fit. Took care of it with a chisel.

I am a contractor who has used this product in the past with no issues but this time was very different. Out of 42 cartons, 4 where totally unusable, with uneven edge cuts, and broken pieces. Had to reorder cartons 3 times do to more damaged product and wrong product color shipped. Very poor quality control. I could only attach 6 pics but I have over 50 showing the damage.

Thank you for your feedback, Kyle. We are sorry to hear about the issues you experienced with damaged boards and replacement material.

Plano Gunstock Oak is a character-grade hardwood flooring product, which features greater natural variation and varying board lengths. However, if you believe the product contains a manufacturing defect, we encourage you to contact The Home Depot Flooring Department with your proof of purchase to initiate a claim. This will allow Bruce to conduct a formal investigation and review the material, including any additional photos you may have.

            Poor quality
As a flooring contractor, I am currently installing a Bruce hardwood floor that was purchased by the homeowner at Home Depot. This will be my last Bruce Home Depot floor installation. The beauty of hardwood is its variations in coloring and markings however, variation should not include multiple wood knots that have obviously been putted, rough areas and burn marks from a saw. The longer boards, which are few and far between per box, have edges which are unstained and unfinished. The quality of Bruce’s Home Depot line is substandard. Many of the pieces are boxed damaged and split. The majority of the boxes (I am working with 10 boxes on my current project) include only one or two long boards and the remainder small pieces. While it is definitely more expensive, I would recommend going to a flooring store and getting a flooring with proven quality. While Bruce might have better quality elsewhere, the Bruce line sold at Home Depot is unacceptable

            Hi there,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding the Bruce Plano Marsh Oak Collection. We are sorry to hear that the product did not meet your expectations.

Plano Marsh Oak is a character-grade hardwood flooring product, which is designed to feature more pronounced natural wood characteristics and greater plank-to-plank variation than premium-grade selections. This includes features such as knots, mineral streaks, and color variation, all of which contribute to the floor's rustic appearance.

For customers seeking a more uniform look with fewer natural character marks and greater board length consistency, Bruce also offers several premium hardwood collections that may be a better fit.

If you believe the flooring contains a manufacturing defect, you may follow the claims process through The Home Depot Flooring Department. With proof of purchase, they can assist in initiating a formal inspection request and coordinate with Bruce so that we can conduct a thorough review of the material.

Don’t buy. You will regret it
This is the third time I’ve used this product and has become unusable. There were issues with some boards before but now at least 50% of the box is junk. Not only are the boards chipped out, damaged or no younger but now the aesthetics are horrible. Gray blotches everywhere. There is zero quality control. Now companies just send everything out and if only half comes back then they’re happy. Bruce will say this is a builders line but that’s crap. The first two times the bird color was nice. Not now. At least Home Depot is easy with returns.

I'm sorry you were unhappy with your Bruce Plano Natural Hickory 3/4" x 3 1/4" SHPL39M10S. Plano is a common grade floor which means it features a greater amount of visual character such as wider color and grain variation, mineral streaks, knots and small holes. Do Better, Bruce
I bought a large quantity of the Bruce hickory several years ago, and found it to be quite impressive in looks and in overall fit and finish. A truly superior product. When I started the last two bedrooms just recently, I not only wanted the wood to match (more or less), but I remembered how impressed I was with my last purchase. THIS time around, the quality of the wood was noticeably lower. In addition, there was more waste due to poor milling. While the floor looks great, there’s a clear difference between the leftover from several years ago (three cases; see pictures if allowed) and the new wood. Also featured is a picture that shows the starting quality of their wood to be lower. Just in case anyone is wondering, we bought the same product number and sku. This is NOT discount wood. Bruce - do better.

                  Steven,

If you genuinely feel like you are experiencing an issue that might be related to a manufacturing defect we would encourage you to file a claim back with the retailer you originally purchased the flooring through. Unfortunately as we are not set up to sell our products directly any Warranty claims would have to be initiated back through the retailer the product was purchased through. You will need your proof of purchase along with any pictures or evidence you have regarding the issue. Once you submit the information to the retailer they will file a claim on your behalf.  Once the claim is filed our claims team will investigate the issue and determine a course of action to pursue their investigation. If you are having trouble figuring out where to begin you can contact our warranty services / Customer Advocate group at 1-800-233-3823 on the 3rd prompt while you cannot file the claim with them directly they should be able to advise you how to proceed. This wood is not only beautiful but easy to work with. We had to have a young man carry it upstairs to the second floor where we installed it as so dense. Good sign of solid wood. It went down easily. We are 2 76 year old seniors but got the job done. Love this product. It was installed in an apartment we rent out and our tenant absolutely loves it.

                    DO NOT BUY!
I purchased these for our new home. Our contractor installed half of one room and refused to install anymore. The finish and thickness is inconsistent from one box to another making our floor look like it had waves in it. The edges are not stained and are uneven from the rest of the flooring leaving edges that splinter and break off. There were massive knots and lots of the wood was unusable due to worm holes and rot. We had multiple boxes that either had only small pieces or only full pieces. We had to pay our contractor to both lay and remove the hardwoods and now we’re behind on our build as we wait for new floors to be delivered from a different manufacturer. And yet, I received a call from Home Depot saying they couldn’t offer a full refund because some of the boxes were installed and used so now we are out thousands of dollars for a defective product that we couldn’t use. Do not waste your time and money. Take my word for it.

                      Worst Flooring horrible manufacturer
Bought this flooring a month ago and it was to be installed but when the installation team was about 3 rows deep we were told that they couldn’t keep installing this flooring. Every box was at least 50 - 70 percent 8 inch planks. The entire floor would look like a checkered board. It looked like we were given remnants. Not only was every box defective with tiny boards but also many of the boards had very large scratches, dents, holes and even edges chipped off. We now have a living room with plywood and have no resolution. We have been told that the manufacturer Bruce cannot guarantee that reordering the same flooring that the other boxes would be better. DO NOT ORDER THIS PRODUCT!!!! I can’t understand why Home Depot would sell such a horrible product.

We finally finished the last two rooms on the first floor of our home. We chose Bruce again! They are solid quality. Bruce hardwood floors are beautiful and sturdy- even our contractor complimented on its quality. I did not give them a 5 star bc of the shipment of my 19 boxes; The delivery people did not ring on the door to inform me that it has been dropped leaving two pallets in my yard right before rain and one of the box had some damaged which is likely from delivery. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

                        Poor quality control
Get something else if you don't want to have to literally inspect every single board prior to install. We just installed 500 sqft and so wish I had gone with a different product. The labor install cost much more than quoted due to the extreme variation in widths of boards and missing tongues on almost 25% of each box. One box had over 30 10-14inch pieces. The finish is lifting off on multiple boards right out of the box. Very poor quality control. Once down it does look wonderful which is the only reason for 2 stars.

I bought 28 boxes which included 10% for waste. We have only gotten through 4 boxes and already will need more because how bad the yuck wood and spitting. Due to bad wood and high rate of splitting we will need to buy two more boxes for waste. I have reached out to Bruce to see what we they can do. We did not expect this rate of waste. It is a licensed contractor who is following manufacturer instruction.

The Plano Collection is part of Bruce’s Common Grade category which features a greater amount of visual character such as wider color and grain variation, mineral streaks, knots and small holes. If you feel like there are manufacturing defects within your floor we would refer you to the Home Depot store where you purchase the flooring as is recommended in the warranty. The retailer is authorized to start a claim on your behalf. They will take some information the reach out to their Bruce claims department to start a claim to have your concerns investigated so a determination can be made.

                            Expected better
The quality control on this product has diminished severely. I installed my floor a month ago and continue to see new cracks and insect holes and variations in dimensions. I should have returned this product as soon as I began to install it as I had to sift through the pieces and pick out the good ones to install. So a few thousand square feet later I had to return several thousand square feet as well just to find good pieces. Disappointed enough to write a review. I’ve installed this floor many times years ago and did not have this issue.

We removed carpet and installed hardwood flooring. It came out really good. We had some issue in shipping but Home Depot customer service helped on that issue. We as family really happy with this purchase. We also think prices are comparable to others
