Professional looking tile installation that a DIYer can do.
I was looking for a high quality, waterproof, on grade vinyl flooring solution and choose this Bruce reDefine product. It is a thick tile with a great finish. It is an interlocking tile, that floats on a cushion base. I am a DIYer who has installed both wood and ceramic tile floors. This helped, but is not essential. After doing the job, besides loving this flooring I wanted to share some tips to make your job easier.
The tools I used were a Sabre saw, rubber mallet, block of wood for tapping the tile, a T square and a B&D Workmate bench along with a 3 foot long board and some clamps to support the tile while cutting. Measure and mark your tiles and make sure you are cutting the tiles with the interlocking edge in the correct direction.
There are a few important steps that you will need to follow. 1) The floor must be flat. If there are gaps after removing the previous tile, get a floor patch like Simple Prep to smooth out the spaces. YouTube installation videos are a guide but you need to practice with some tiles so you can see how the interlocking edges fit together. I used the rubber mallet to gently tap the piece together. If they don’t lock with a gentle tap, separate them and try again. As with any tile installation the edges must fit together tightly and be aligned. A small misalignment will prevent the next row of tiles from aligning properly. You should cross the short edge seams in one row with the long edge of the next row tile. This will lock down the 1st row tiles with the 2nd row tile. To do this, I started by cutting1 foot off the edge of the first tile in the 2nd row, then 2 feet on the third row, 3 feet, and then no cuts on the fifth row tile. After you do this once, you can use the cut off pieces to start the next rows, reducing any wasted material. This locks down the seams and gives the flooring a professional looking appearance.
Finally, everyone loves the way the floor looks. I feel that the cushioning on the bottom of the tile will be easier on the feet, especially on a hard base. I expect many years of use from this tile.
Needed a floor for a small area that could get wet. Three boxes per sq but for some reason I didn’t get instructions? I’ve installed different types of wood flooring in the past and this installation was super easy. It seams fairly flimsy but snapped together good and layer flat. I did leave a little space between the walls for expansion, so toe molding was my preference. My area is mostly for bar stools, low foot traffic and it seams like a durable product. Really liked the look of this flooring in the darker color. Hides dirt really well and cleans up easily with a broom or a damp mop.
Overall B+, Delivery Time C+, Shipping Packaging D-, Product Quality A+, Form/Fit A+/A+
I am three days in and halfway done with my lay down of this flooring material. The ‘installed’ Bruce flooring deserves a ‘A’ for looks, feel and purpose. It has a deep textured grain. There are no visible repeat patterns, and it feels warm and solid beneath your feet. This combined with it being a waterproof material makes it perfect for the children’s bathroom. As others have mentioned, the product packaging is not designed for shipping and handling and so quite a few planks arrived with damage corners and two were snapped in half. With careful planning, I used several damaged planks at the ends in the install. The material is easily cut and trimmed with my table saw, chop saw, and jig saw. The interlocking system is precise and with practice became easy to engage. When more product arrives to complete the install. Overall, I am please with the end result so far.
I have never installed click and lock planks before, I have done glue down only, this specific flooring I got is not only easy to install, but also comes with the underlayment atached, which made it more confortable to walk than the vynil flooring I did in the past, I might do my entire house with the same kind in a few months, it will be perfect for my family since we have 5 small dogs, which have accidents on the floor every now and than
We recently install the Bruce redefine in a hallway in the basement. The flooring is pretty thick and it seems like it will be durable with kids and pets. The edges do crack easy so you have to be somewhat careful when installing them. Easy to install with a good utility knife and a straight edge. When you first put the flooring together you will find that it does not want to lay flat at first but it starts to settle and lay flat. If you spill anything on the flooring it wipes up quickly and won’t ruin the floor.

This flooring is easy to work with. I have a decent amount of experience with click flooring and some of it can be challenging to interlock with just one person. It’s on the thinner side as far as thickness goes which helps in ease of installation. Looks like there are around 5 or so design patterns for the planks. The LVP material and attached underlayment seems like higher quality material than some I’ve seen. Cuts well on the miter saw as well but will dull the blade pretty quickly.
I started to install this in a bedroom but will have to get more to complete the project. I removed previous carpet and I will be installing this over the base floor. The installation is very easy and simple and I was even able to uninstall and reinstall with no issues. The planks simply drop and lock together with no tools. This is my first time working with this type of flooring and I will definitely be using this in my home for most of the rooms. You can stop and start anytime and continue the next day or week without having issues. It does not require special equipment or training for the installation. This flooring is scratch resistant and waterproof with a 22 mil wear layer plus a lifetime residential warranty so I am sold . The look is incredible! 5 stars all the way !
Read the installation instructions, then prep the current flooring in the room you will refloor (for me… laundry room. I removed the quarter rounds and cleaned the current ceramic floor and decided on a 6” starter piece for my second row so the plank joints wound not occurs at the ceramic tile grout lines.
Cutting the floor planks with a chop saw (back side of flooring facing up) was a breeze. I had to flip it around to finish the last inch of width on each cut. I used some foam ¼” spacers I had left over from a ceramic tile job, but found they did not work. When pounding against them to lock the second row of flooring, the foam spacers squished and I struggled to lock the planks together. So I used a small cut piece of this flooring for the wall spacers. Now I was able to lock the second row of planks together. It took me a few tries to understand how the lock mechanism worked. Now I was on a roll. :o)
Removing the old flooring transition piece was challenging to do without splitting it. There was LOTS of glue holding down one end. Slow and steady upward pressure with a flat crowbar worked well. Be patient and steady. I re-attached the transition molding with 100% silicone calk and weighted it down with a box of flooring until dry.
This was my first project with this type of flooring. It went well and I am exceptionally well pleased with the flooring quality, lock mechanism, and flooring finish. This floating floor does not move, does not squeak when walked on, and stays in place. The finished floor passed my wife’s judgment with flying colors. Thanks for a great product, Bruce! :o)
Got 3 boxes of this vinyl flooring as samples. Decided to take out old carpet from daughter's trailer. It looked so good i ordered 3 more boxes ( bought at home depot). We installed directly over wood where carpet was and over linoleum flooring in rest of trailer. See pictures. Easy to cut . Only problem we had was one box must have been dropped at some point and the snap in part of the flooring panel was chipped. Good thing we had some extra panels. We went to HD and got some concave trimming strips and used it like base boards. See picture. The rubber underside make a nice cushion and stops panels from shifting.
This item is very substantial in quality. It is a breeze to install and looks awesome. Just had a small area to do in the bathrooms and therefore it didn't take very long to do it. Takes longer to remove the wall trim then it does to install the flooring. It does not have to be glued and it has a foam backing which makes it quiet to walk on. I would definitely recommend this if you want to cover an area that's already got existing linoleum on it. Very good quality very good look in a you install.
First off, I am Not a professional, just a DIY. This was my first experience with LVP flooring, so I started with a small job (bathroom). Overall, the flooring was easy to install. It didn't come with any instructions, but there are many videos on YouTube (I suggest you watch several). I had a little trouble getting some of the planks to stay together along the long edge. I'm not sure if that's the product or my inexperience. Plan on a little extra for waste and damage. I had one plank that was broken 6" from the end and a couple with chipped corners. Still usable for trimmed pieces. Overall, a good product and a larger job might be easier. My small job required every piece to be custom cut and fitted. (Easily done with a saber saw for most cuts and a table saw for long cuts.)
Sandpiper Vinyl Composite Floor planks with hinged edges for snug fit.
This is a first time experience as a vinyl flooring installing the Sandpiper Flooring. I thought it would be best to thoroughly review the DIY app for flooring three times over. I believe with the proper tools and know how that the job would be easy. I chose to floor the coat closet underneath the staircase. Clearing out my wifes coats and christmas decorations was half the job. The first photo shows the tools I staged to do the flooring job. I started from the left side of the closet and stagerred the flooring to give the flooring an organized appearance. There is no mention of the transition piece from the Sandpiper flooring to a tiled area. I bought the transition piece for $35 at the Home Depot matching it to the Sandpiper flooring. The last two photos of the closet are the final finished product.
This flooring is perfect for my Bathroom. Waterproof vinyl flooring for a DIY project over the weekend. After starting this project there were other repairs to make but the flooring only took about 2.5 hours and I'm extremely satisfied with the outcome.I have some painting, moulding and some plumbing repairs to do and changing some lighting fixtures but this was a fun project.
I needed to replace the floor in my bathroom so I got these. It is a really nice, light color floor. Heavy box with 10 four foot planks. Now I don't know why they call it "Vinyl Tile Flooring" they are planks and don't look like tile. Easy to install them. I had asked my daughter and her boyfriend to bring the boxes in and unfortunately the broke almost 2 boxes.
Bruce Redefine Rigid Core Vinyl Flooring was pretty easy for me to install in my Storage/Extra Refrigerator & Freezer Room located in my Basement. I installed the vinyl flooring over my concrete floors in that storage area. Honestly the hardest part was cleaning out the room to make installation easier.
My planks are called Fox Den 1RD6ROO3.
Once I scanned the code on the box for installation instructions it was a breeze. I liked the drop & lock for quick installation.
Didn't take me too long because the room is pretty small. I love the finish look and feel it really spruced up my Basement storage room. I'm Headed to Home Depot to purchase tools for the finishing touches in corners for that storage area. Love the look of the wood vinyl.
Starting out opening the box I noticed damage to nearly every corner. ☹ I was hoping there would only be minimum damage, but the corners were not the only damage there was. There were quiet a few edges on the tongue and groove pieces that were broken as well. I knew almost immediately that this was not going to work. I believe that this is just too rigid of a Rigid LVP.
Despite this I still assembled the flooring to give it a true scout effort to make this work. The pieces did go together with ease and locked into each other nicely. They seem to make a tight joint and held together well.
The look of the flooring is nice as well. The coloring is rich and natural looking but not without flaws. I guess that is ok if what you are going for is an old farmhouse look. Just not for us. There are some spots you can see in the pictures that almost look like there were patches in the grain. Again, nice look for some, just not for me.
The thickness is nice, and the layers of flooring seem to be well built. I do like the honeycomb backing that is on the flooring. I am sure this would add to sound dampening. I see no reason not to use this on any level of a house be it a basement or a second story living. The flooring says it is water resistant but with the tongue and groove being broken in spots I am not sure how that would hold true in a wet setting like a bathroom.
Coverage of the floor is decent and better than some I have used in the past. Each box covers just under 24 sq. ft.
Overall if I was able to get all of the pieces not to have damage or even be able to use the broken edges under the baseboard or trim this would look great.

I have a closet and a laundry room left to floor in my house. Closet was the first to tackle. I have installed many click lock laminate flooring and I’m very impressed with this flooring. It’s thicker than previous floor I have dealt with. As a result, using a razor knife didn’t work for me on this flooring. I ended up using a skilsaw as my larger chop saw is at a different work site. Of course using a saw made more of a mess but it is worth it. This is by far the easiest click lock flooring I have installed. Placing the one lock over the other and using a rubber hammer is genius. It made install much more simple.
Having installed laminate wood flooring in the past I was a bit skeptical of vinyl tile flooring. So, when the opportunity came to try the vinyl tile flooring, I jumped at the chance. The first thing I noticed is the vinyl tile flooring by ReDefine is the planks are one inch shorter in width compared to the laminate wood flooring planks. This was a welcome advantage when cutting the vinyl tile flooring utilizing a standard miter saw. Also making cuts with a jig saw the vinyl tile flooring didn’t chip or break as most of the time with laminate wood flooring does. I knew I wanted some type of waterproof flooring in my bathroom. The installation was straight forward.
The tiles locked in place quite easily. There was no need to utilize any special tools. With careful planning, measuring and cutting, the installation went fast. Although my bathroom was small, I am confident the average size bathroom wouldn’t be a challenge. The one draw back of vinyl tile flooring is that the tiles are brittle. Meaning if you drop one on its edge it will break easily. So be careful. Other than that, I found that the vinyl tile flooring each came with a thick cushion backing. So, there was no need for laying down and tacking a backing to the floor before laying the tiles. A big plus in my book.
I give ReDefine waterproof click lock vinyl tile flooring a well-deserved recommendation. I think you will be happy with the result as I was.
The flooring I used is the 3/8" Rigid Core Vinyl Flooring, Golden Afternoon color. One box is about 50lbs and contains 10 planks 4' long by 7" wide. The instructions recommend stapling, nailing, and or gluing these, and using underlayment, so check the instructions. This color looks nice and will work in my kitchen and utility room. I started with the kitchen first and added a picture of before and after.
For cutting the planks I use my speed square to guide my utility knife to score the location I wanted, then I put a board on the backside at the score and easily snapped the plank. The edge came out very clean.
They are waterproof so I expect they will hold up well in both the kitchen and utility room.
Bruce reDefine Glow Waterproof Click Lock Vinyl Tile Flooring
This vinyl flooring is very easy to install, they simply click into place with each other. There is no need for glue or nails to the subfloor as the floor's own weight holds it in place. As long as your subfloor is solid. I decided to do my washroom, so, I had to remove the linoleum and scape up the paper and waste that remained. Once I started with the vinyl flooring, things got easier. First of all I purchased a cutter to make the cutting smooth, instruction say you can use a box knife but I didn't want the chance it. The cutter is pictured below. Everything was going good until I reached the toilet, at this time I took a break to figure it out. End of day 1 of installation. Day 2, I finally completed my task of putting in flooring in my downstairs washroom. It took three times trying to get the curve cut in front of the toilet. I finally made a diagram cutout of the curvy parts of the toilet to scale and used it as an overlay on the plank and cut the wood with a jigsaw. Things to know, these plank are thicker than sheet vinyl making it more forgiving of small imperfections in the underlayment. Also, don't be afford of mistakes you will be able to use portions of the planks for shorter runs.
I have always been a little scared of laying my own flooring. Long ago, when we only had real wood floors, you were wise to let professionals lay the floor. Then came Pergo in the mid-90's and all of a sudden, DIYers could lay their own vinyl floors that sort of looked like real wood.
Fast forward three decades and now we have the premier hardwood floor company, Bruce, producing what may be the perfect floor for DIYers - the Redefine line of vinyl flooring.
It's 100 percent waterproof. It has a 22 mil wear layer. It's click and lock. No glue or nailing required. It can be installed over all grade levels. It has a built-in underlayment. And best of all, it looks like real wood!
The well-wrapped boxes were delivered by UPS and the driver seemed to handle them carefully. Nonetheless, when I opened the first box, I noticed that three of the boards had some minor damage on the corner. I took a couple of pictures to show where the damage was. This is important because any damage to the tongue could make the boards not fit well. Luckily I had enough materials on hand so that I didn't need these three boards (and I could have just cut off the damaged end and used the remainder for my end pieces).
I was hoping to cut the pieces with my vinyl knife and snap them, but these boards are too thick and well made to do that. I ended up using my jig saw for all of my cuts (including cutting the tongues off where necessary).
I found the click and lock feature very easy to use. Once I cut my first piece in a row, the rest of the pieces went down quickly. Unfortunately, in a bathroom, I had lots of special cuts to make. My jigsaw (make sure you get laminate cutting blades) glided easily through the vinyl and I did not experience any splitting along the cuts.
Make sure you leave about a quarter inch at the sides for expansion. Just follow the easy-to-understand directions that are on the Internet.
The finished product looks like real wood. And it's thick enough not to sound hollow when you walk on it. Because it's 100 percent waterproof I had no fear installing this in my bathroom. Bruce provides a lifetime limited warranty also.
With so many colors available in the Redefine line, it would be hard not to be able to find one that fits your decor.
I LOVE my new flooring! I can't say enough about it! The color and texture was perfect to distinguish the laundry room from the kitchen. We installed it in our laundry room, next to the kitchen floor which has real hardwood flooring. The Ravine Glow looks more like authentic hardwood than the actual hardwood! It feels wonderful on my barefoot and I am so glad I painted the room before it was put down, the new color makes my floor pop! With the extra pieces left, I am going to cover my two steps in the garage. Time will tell how it wears, but for now, it's perfect!
Waterproof, spills clean up in a breeze. Great forgiving base, and easy to install -even for beginners!
I've installed lots of vinyl flooring and I think I just found my new favorite. This flooring installed easily with better locking "clicking" than others I've installed. It's waterproof (as shown in one of the photos I uploaded) and it's a thick 22ML material with a forgiving rubberlike backing. If you've got perfect condition sub flooring below the new installation of this flooring you will be amazed at how well it sits. If you are planning to install this over some "less than perfect" base, you will be equally as amazed as how well it sits and hides any flaws below the surface. One of the best features about this flooring is that it's nearly goof-proof. You can't install it wrong (because the design won't allow you to connect the wrong sides to each other). If you make a mistake on pattern or staggering, simply unclick the piece or pieces you need to change and that's it. If you notice one of the pics I uploaded, the seltzer water I purposely poured onto the new flooring sat for a full 15 minutes before I snapped that photo. It's as if you just had your car waxed and the water beads up and cleans up in a snap. I also put a small amount of red wine on the flooring and it cleaned up in a breeze. (see video )
So decided to try out some vinyl flooring for the first time and came across this product, I liked the look from the very beginning and thought that the colors would work great no matter what room I tried it out in. I decided to update my very outdated (original flooring from 1980) laundry room in order to give it a nice fresh modern look. You can see the before and after photos and I have to say, what a difference!
The flooring was extremely easy to install and went together really nicely, by utilizing a rubber mallet I was able to guarantee that they snapped in tightly and that they didn't shift when I was walking on/adding additional pieces. They had enough variety in each pack to guarantee that there were no two planks that were identical. All in all it was a very easy process to get it put together and really improved the look of the laundry room.
The only reason it was a 4 star and not 5 star was due to the fact that the ends of the planks seemed to have gotten battered during transport so took a little more finesse to get them to fit together properly at times. They do a great job protecting the front and back of the planks, mainly where they link, but the ends could have utilized just a little more protection, and a few corners were mangled.
Bruce Redefine Rigid Core Flooring Forest Green , This Flooring is Firm But Very Comfortable To Walk Barefoot On.
Bruce Redefine Rigid Core Flooring Forest Green, I Choose This Color Because it Goes Well With My Appliances . I Decided To Put It In The Kitchen Because It’s A High Traffic Area , It Has Held Up Very Well . The Flooring Attach With Groves Depending On Where You What To Install it it’s An Easy install. The Installation Only Took One Day To Complete.
I love the color of this flooring because it looks so good with my beachy themed house. I chose the lighter color. So so pretty! The only issue is that the first box I opened, had 4 defective pieces in it and I’m unable to lay it down unless I return them and get nee ones. Overall, the quality of the boards are decent, but because they broke and cracked during shipment, you may want to have them sent to the store and picked up at the store and inspect them first.
First off, the installation instructions are very well written and tell how to get a quality install, startig with making sure your floor is level. I had previously installed a new subfloor so it was as perfect as could be. I had the flooring shipped two me - upon opening I found one of the planks on top was chipped, but since you're going to have to cut some of the pieces this chip didn't it really wasn't a big deal. There are 10 planks in a pack, 4' long by 7" wide. The flooring was easy enough to score and snap but using a saw might insure a more straight edge. The planks themselves are very rigid which I really liked. They snap together with ease and it was even easy to take them apart while doing some alignment. You really don't need much in terms of tools to install, the big thing is just patience and doing proper prep work. These planks do have the option for glue down which might be a good option if you want to make sure things don't shift around. I did get a little dirt on one of the planks and it cleaned up very easily.
I received cases in the mail and being so heavy 1 case and a portion of another were damaged on corners. The manufacturer attempted to safeguard this be putting edge strips in order to protect it during transport however being heavy they did get damaged. After receiving replacement cases, they came un damaged. The flooring itself is Rigid core, and is a really good flooring. They cover faster than others since they are much larger in size. Padded bottom makes it feel more comfortable, thus no sheet of padding is necessary. It’s always better that no underlay is needed. I’m installing it in an RV because my whole house was already renovated & floors completed. I have this product in other colors already throughout my 4 bedroom home plus living room, kitchen, dining room and all hallways are rigid core planks. I very much enjoy it in home so thought it appropriate to use in RV. Since they are larger and heavy, it’s going to be much more durable inside RV. I cannot complete the whole job due to having to remove all furniture along with table in slide out. In my review though, its based on how easy to install and how durable I believe them to be. One person can do this installation based on how good the product is. Some inferior brands make it difficult to click them together with out a second person, though this application can be completed by me alone.
The wooden flooring planks are great. We jumped at the opportunity to upgrade our current flooring in our RV. Inside our home we have tile wall to wall, but our RV has a section that was originally carpeted. Last year, we pulled up the carpet and opted to replace the carpet with luxury peel and stick flooring. It looked okay for a few days and then the flooring pieces began peeling up and we tried to glue them down better, but it was pointless. We have been on the lookout for a better option for the flooring. We saw this click and lock flooring and decide to give it a try. I used mostly a jigsaw, a table saw (for straight cuts), rubber mallet, 3/4-inch drill/bit, a tape measure, pencil, and some safety protection (gloves, goggles, knee pad). Cutting this plank flooring is easy but you just want to take your time, so you don’t waste any material.
What I like:
• The pieces are very sturdy – they feel like very high quality.
• The click and lock are extremely easy to connect.
• The pieces cut very easily using a jigsaw.
• There is a layer of underlayment material under each piece.
• The flooring is waterproof.
• Easy to clean.
• There are many color options.
• The long pieces cover a lot of area.
What I don’t like:
• The price for this type of flooring is high – You get what you pay for.
• Price – Each cutting mistake feels costly at $10 a plank.
Our order was placed, and three boxes of flooring arrived in the matter of days. The packaging didn’t appear damaged but the corners of many of the planks were slightly broken. They were only broken on the very ends so I was able to place those planks in spots where the broken corners would be less noticed. We pulled up the old flooring and began laying out the planks where we wanted them. We decided the best plan was to lay out the first row and cut every other plank in half. That way the first row was staggered and looked better. The staggered look continued moving forward toward the front of the RV. Once we got to where the seats are, we had to start making holes and scoping around the different corners. This is best done with a medium sized square and a little bit of geometry. I like to have pencil and paper handy to write down my measurements as I need to make special cuts. Also, make sure when you are connecting that you have a rubber mallet or a block to knock the planks into position better. I would recommend this type of flooring over any type of peel and stick. This flooring is more expensive than lower quality flooring, but I really do think you get what you pay for in flooring. I went cheap the first go around and it turned out bad over time. I would prefer having something that looks better and feels better when you walk on it over something that looks good for just a short time.
After the big freeze of 2021, my pipes were frozen and I had to have a plumber come out to replace them. Unfortunately he had to cut out the flooring and what was once a half bath. I've been trying to figure out what to do with this room ever since. When the old flooring was removed, it shifted the drywall and so all of the wallpaper had come off. Well, I put on some wallpaper which was nice and I was trying to figure out what to do with the floor. When I saw this Tawny Trail flooring, I thought this would be the answer. I honestly thought it was an adhesive laminate. It is not. It is much like a hardwood laminate flooring that locks together. It comes in a variety of colors, but I chose one that I thought would complement the rest of the room. My house is over 100 years old, so nothing is square or has a 90° angle. When I started with this flooring, I thought it would be fairly straightforward. Unfortunately, the room is just a little wider than the individual floor pieces. I had to use a saw. That is something I was not aware of. I had to cut every single piece in order to get it to fit. And in one of the boxes over half the pieces were broken all at the same end so I could not use them. However the flooring has a rubber backing so I did not need an underlayment or a moisture barrier. As you can see from the pictures, it turned out really nice. I do not recommend this for a beginner do it yourselfer. You're going to need someone with a bit of experience. In a large room, it may be easier but in a space this small, it was a definite challenge for me. I am not a professional. I do these things just every so often. In the past, I have had to hire people to fix what I did. However, I think this time it's going to work. I am really happy with the results.
