I thought the setup was a little bit over kill but I followed the instructions anyway. I like the wicking effect of having the bottom of the tray filled with water. It does keep the soil moist. My radishes love it too.

I was skeptical when I ordered this grow box, but now I can't believe what a difference it makes.
I purchased this planter box to plant some fall tomatoes. I was a little skeptical about how well it would work, but I needed extra space for my plants so I gave it a try. The planter box was easy to assemble. I followed the directions for setting it up on this page, adding "Espoma Garden Lime" and "Vigoro Tomato and Vegetable Garden Plant Food Plus Calcium" to my potting soil for both my burlap sack planter and the "City Pickers" planter box. The tomato seeds were all planted at the same time and transplanted into their respective planters when they were all the same size. The tomatoes in the City Pickers planter box are now at least 3 times larger than the tomatoes in the burlap sack. I've been filling the reservoir for the planter box with water and watering the burlap sack tomatoes everyday. I've posted a picture so that you can see the difference between the two planters. I definitely recommend this planter box, and plan on purchasing another one for next season.

Have to take an average for rating
These are fairly nice containers, I have own much more expensive ones that wicked water much better. I gave it a 2 Star rating because I purchased two of these boxes on July 21st, and one started leaking. I couldn't understand why the planter became dry and light, so quickly. I'll just have to water that container, like a regular planter. For the price they are decent. I do wish the plastic was a little thicker around the top edge, because of the slight slant I have to deal with, the box slightly deforms.

This is the solution when you can no longer get down on your knees. Just put the rolling bed
on your deck and then walk along on the ground and they are at eye level. Well built easy to assemble. easy to water. You don't need to water daily. Works for me.

Amazing product! Huge plants!
I'm usually not someone who writes reviews. When it came to this product, I felt I had to! The city pickers garden box is absolutely amazing! I couldn't be happier with the results. My plants are huge, and I have tons of tomatoes!
I am a novice gardener, that has not had the best luck, when it comes to growing things.
My husband still cannot believe that I grew this!
The setup was easy. I followed the instructions exactly, with the lime and the fertilizer.
(I planted 3 tomato plants on the edges and did my line of fertilizer across the center.)
I highly recommend this product to anyone with a patio Garden. I will definitely purchase more of these next season!

We decided to pick up a couple of these and they've exceeded our expectations! Really a brilliant little invention. The tomato plants we planted in one of them have grown to gigantic proportions! And we've got several herbs, eggplant, and bell peppers growing in the other. Everything is super healthy and growing so much we've had to water them 2x a day, each watering taking in several gallons before hitting the overflow. No complaints so far! I think we went a little overboard with how many plants we planted, but despite that, this patio planter is supplying enough nutrients for everything!

It takes about 2 minutes to set up each box, and another 5 minutes to fill with soil, plant, and water. I have several of these acquired over some years. The self watering feature works efficiently, the reservoir being quite big. I have grown tomatoes, peas, lettuce, carrots, beets, chard, peppers, zucchini all successfully.
