This umbrella requires minimum assembly. Just need to attach the bottom half of the pole to the top with the umbrella. The umbrella is very easy to crank open and close. The crank is very smooth. To tilt the umbrella, I do try to be careful not to allow the umbrella to drop into a tilted position. It took me a few tries to press the button hard enough to begin the tilt, and I kept control of the umbrella to tilt it slowly. To lift it back into the upright position, it was very easy to do. I am 5'5" and I was able to reach the tilt button easily. I do need to tiptoe in order to control the tilt. The umbrella tilts to the right or the left. If the sun circles around like it does around my deck, I will have to turn the umbrella as the sun circles around my deck. Maybe it would have been better if the pole was a little shorter. I got the red one, and the color is pretty. My pups get to sit in the shade now.

Can't Find a Base That Fits
This is an attractive umbrella with a good quality fabric. The gingko color looks great with all my deck plants. Unfortunately the Home Depot website does not give guidance on what base to buy for the umbrella. Most are sold out and unavailable on line. The large Home Depot store in my town does not carry any bases to go with these umbrellas.
The base I purchased weighed 35 lbs., but the three adaptors were all too narrow for the diameter of this pole. After returning the base to Home Depot, I went to another outdoor furniture store and bought a second base that was sure to work. Once again the adaptors were either too small and one was too large. They weren't adjustable so I had to return this second base.
Now I'm just going to return the umbrella, because it's become such a big hassle. Home Depot's website should "pair" bases that'll work with the diameter of the California Umbrella poles. The actual pole diameter should be included on the website (not just of the umbrella's height/diameter, and pole height).
If the stores carried a range of bases matched to the umbrellas that are sold, I probably could've made this work.

This is a very high quality patio umbrella. The color is a light, silvery gray, with the pattern and thickness of lawn chair fabric. It actually looks like my lawn chairs. It is heavy, has the tilt feature, and has a strap for closure. The size fit my smaller table perfectly.
