It served it's purpose and I'm pleased with the design and function.

Worked between a brick wall and drywall with about a 3 inch clearance.

Ideal for carrying out the work in a manufactured home with shallow walls, Robust and well made.

I needed to add an outlet to a circuit and had very little depth to install a new outlet box. Wasnt sure what to do until I saw this in the store. Perfect!! I was able to add the outlet, feed the wires and install the new outlet plug. If you are working with tight spaces are an area that has other wiring in it this is the perfect solution.

I didn’t use it because it was too big for my space but, the box was fine

ended up working but clearly designed for 1/2 wall material. with 5/8 the ears closest to the closed part are sunk in. ended up working but wish it would allow for thicker material.

Only good for half-inch drywall

Did the job in a fairly tight space. Allowed for more room for wires to accomodate an outlet.

Super useful in locations where there is limited depth space particularly receptacle outlets in old homes.

It is designed to work with Romex. I purchased these for our plaster walls, they work but required removing the wood laths. The (4) tabs that are outside the wall to the (2) locking tabs inside the wall is less than 3/4" depth. Our plaster is 1" thick, so I had to shave the plaster down inside the wall and remove two of the wood laths. This will not work with conduit or armored cable.

I knew I had a shallow wall, but it turned out to be even shallower than I thought. I bought these hoping i could more easily install Decora light switches in my shallow walls. But after cutting out the old box, I found out the space was only 1.5" deep including the sheetrock. Much to my wife's disappointment, I'm limited to a standard shallow box like the one I cut out and stick with the regular toggle switch for a few lights.

How does a 2" deep box fit in 1.5 inch hole. It is beyond frustrating grabbing a box that advertises an impossible claim.

Curved back so a GFI would not fit.

Regardless of the description that says it will fit in a 1 -1/2" deep hole, it will not. Look at the dimensions in the specs. It's 2" deep! You cannot fit 2" into 1-1/2", which is the depth I have in my wall. Jeesh.

Works great in the thin walls!

I have an older mobile home and these boxes work perfectly in these 2” thick walls.

For me, this was a piece of junk. The only reason I bought it was I couldn't use a 4" deep box and my local Home Depot didn't have any other boxes I could use. I occasionally will wire up and install outlets into old work boxes before putting them into the wall to save my old back and knees. In this case, I was installing a new outlet at the back of a very narrow broom closet. Because of the where the screw for the bottom swing clamp was located, I had to trim off part of the bottom mounting flange, even after removing the plaster ears, so I could access the bottom swing clamp screw after the outlet was installed. I also had trouble getting the box to sit flat in the opening. I've installed dozens of old work boxes in my life and never had this much trouble installing them as I did with this one.

Shallow? Oh yes. This thing only cares about material goods, and looks. Good thing it's functional, too. It's able to push important issues to the side like so many shoppers on Black Friday.

These boxes are excellent for outlets that are needed in shallow walls. I've used several in the past. They were easy to install and worked great.

This box works great if your drywall is 1/2" thick. My drywall is 3/4" thick and when fully installed, it sat too deep in the wall.
