Wasn’t a very easy installation, Had to buy this extra kit for 2 extra border pieces after buying 2 larger kits . Not very happy with the ease of installation they claim is easy ! I won’t recommend doing yourself install to anyone .

I love this ceiling system and it looks great when finished. There are a few tips the manufacturer needs to add to the installation video to make your life easier. Example: When mounting the runners on the joists, you reach a point for the long dimension where you need to add a length of runner to complete the run. I had to fabricate a connector for the two runners because if left simply butt up against each other, they flex when you push in the lock rail and don’t allow for a secure lock. Ron

The kit was what we were looking for to flush mount. However, due to it being plastic there was a little too much flexibility with pieces when installing, leaving lines not entirely straight. The installation directions could use more descriptive details. We had to watch several YouTube videos to fully understand the install process and due to the shape of our room needed to make quite a few modifications.

DO NOT BUY!!! I bought 3 boxes to install 2x2 ceiling tiles. This kit said it’s meant for 2x2 tiles. The little grid pieces that are meant to be placed every other tile measured out to 1 ft, 11in. Rather than the 2ft that the box said. These piece did not fit the grid. They kept falling out. These pieces were all too small in all 3 boxes I purchased. Big waste of time and money..

We bought the grid kit to install 24" thin vinyl faux tin ceiling tiles in a new basement bathroom. We thought that the flanged tiles would look great, as well as preserve the ceiling height. Unfortunately, the thin flanged tiles do not look good, as the cut off edge pieces don't match with the interior tiles. We sent the tiles back and are awaiting perfectly flat, plain tiles, so all tiles--pieces and wholes--will look alike. If a regular, thick tile which can be recut to make a new flange were used, this grid kit might work; but for the thin, flexible patterned flanged tiles in a basement bathroom with many boxings (meaning many edges) around pipes in the ceiling, this grid is not the best. Also, when placing the grid runners, watch carefully as to install them so they are perfectly straight, as their flexibility makes it trickey. And when hanging edge J-channels, be sure your tiles are compatible with the channel overlap at corners. The thin, flexible tiles are not as forgiving of the double layer of the edge and look a little raised.

Easy installation. The end result was great looking. Would recommend if wanting or needing a drop ceiling but are limited in head room.

This ceiling is easy to install as long as you follow the instructions and watch the video. Did 500 sq ft basement ceiling and it looks fantastic!

Easy to put up. Was looking for something different. Nice looking for a fresh look.

Fairly easy to install. I used 2x2's fastened to the joists, then attached these. If you want the drop ceiling tiles to be as high as possible, these work great. Accuracy matters, take your time.

I needed a product to cover a crumbling plaster ceiling in a 100 year old house, without losing a lot of height. The Ceilingmax Grid kit worked perfectly. The surface mounting scheme resulted in only a 1.25 inch drop. I used a stud finder to locate the studs and screwed the top hangers to the studs. I used duct tape to hold the top hangers in place in order to free up hands and keep the tracks from moving while fastening. Once the top hangers and edge rails are in place, the ceiling tiles slide into place and the rest of the system snaps together. Way easier than the old style hanging ceiling grids. I had two bump outs and an angle corner to contend with and it only took this 66 year old a day and a half.

light, easy to work with. fit and finish was very good. Used for only light panels not celling tiles to finish a custom lighting system *see photo. Suggest not using flathead screws to secure ( counter sinking screwhead tends to cause pieces to deflect and not fit flat against mounting surfaces). Shipping was 7 days! not the 30 days HD site said it would take.

This system worked well for me. I was installing this grid directly onto leveled joists to save headroom in my basement. Instead of snapping chalklines, I snapped one, then installed two sides, making a corner to support the tile, then added the third side with the tile in place, then the fourth side. I continued this pattern. It worked great! (see pics) This was, of course, after I followed the directions, starting from the middle of the room, got 12 tiles up, then realized one of my grid pieces was going right through one of my recessed lights...pull it down and start all over. Here's my ultimate recommendation: start in the middle as the directions state, snap chalklines every 12 or 24 inches (depending on your tile size) and check they don't cut through any of your recessed light fixtures. If they do, move everything to the left or right a few inches as necessary and check all light fixtures again. It worked for me. I bought a small air compressor and air nailer, and I started getting one tile up every 5 minutes! As far as comments about gaps in end-joined tracks, just use white vinyl tape (like used on shrinkwrap for boats).

Summary: If you REALLY MUST save vertical space, and cannot spare the 4+ inches a "real" suspended ceiling takes... then this is a reasonable choice. The end results look "good".... NOT great, and certainly not as nice as a "real" suspended ceiling. Installation is very frustrating. The concept is great, but the product is made of relatively "soft" PVC plastic. It bends in every direction. Example 1: the directions tell you that once you install the first "top hanger" you then use 2 cross tees to locate the exact location for the next top hanger. Great idea... right? It is NOT easy and does not work. You have to balance holding the next top hanger with the 2 cross tees in place with one hand while trying to drill in this next top hanger. After each Xtee falls out I started trying to temporarily tape them in place. That worked, so I held it up and drilled it in and moved down along the top hanger. Then, after being done and looking back I saw that just holding it in place bent it just a small amount but enough so that I ended with an "S" shaped snake across my ceiling and needed to take it all down and start again. (I finally created a template (i.e., a stick) of the exact distance I needed and held it in place right on the joist I was drilling into.. WALLA... that aspect of installation worked for the rest of the ceiling.) Example 2: they says to use dry wall screws to install the Wall Bracket. But dry wall screws are curved at the head. The PVC wall brackets bend and warp as to drive in the screws. You have to back them out to get the brackets to be straight. (One of my included pics shows a place where I did not back it out enough). There are other issues... all "workable", but very frustrating. And I suggest taking a valium before you try to put in the very last tile. I included some pics showing the good overall results, but a few close-ups of the gaps you will see everywhere.

The installation process is terrible. There are 3 main parts to the system, the track that is mounted to the ceiling, the piece that locks into that track and lastly a piece that goes between the tracks that is placed at the end of each ceiling tile. Now that we got that here is the problems. The first one is the track that is mounted to the ceiling has little groves cut every two feet so you can insert the cross tracks. Well if you room is not exactly in some sort of 2ft increment then you have to cut your own little notches into the main track. Pretty hard to get that very precise. The next problem is that the install instructions state you use the one of the 2 ft cross pieces to help get the correct spacing. It does help with the correct spacing, but once you clip the bottom track in there is a very small gap between the cross piece and the piece that locks into the ceiling mount. Does not look very good to have a bunch of little gaps all over the grid system. I regret buying this. If I didn't have to cut it up to install it, I would have returned it. TERRIBLE and very FRUSTRATING product. Buy the stand system and just mount it close to the rafters as you can if you are doing in a basement. Absolute Junk and I hope this saves someone else.

This ceiling is amazing! We live in a house that has 7' 6" ceilings. If I were to put a standard drop ceiling in, my ceiling would only be 7'... Not good... Due to some wires, I attached 1/2" plywood strips to the bottoms of my rafters and attached the top to that. I then started at one side of the basement lifting and snapping the grid into place. It looks amazing!

I bought 2 100 sq ft systems because I was starting out with a 170 sq ft room and then finish another room. I was easy to put up. A little flimsy at first but came together well. I was missing 3 top hangers from 1 kit but HD handled it were shipped to me within a week. It made my basement ceiling look awesome and mounted right to the joists.

Very easy to use, this was the second time I have used this product. First time was a basement ceiling, this time was to cover up an ugly bathroom ceiling. It is very easy to install, even for a person working on their own. Mounts directly to the existing ceiling or unfinished joists so there is minimal loss of height.

The bathroom ceiling went in quick and easy. Instructions were in the box and were a great help. I looking forward to my next project - bedroom.

This was my first time hanging ceilings and it is simple to do. The trick is do row by row and mount the ceiling as u finish each cross T so u can adjust as u reach the end and dont have to be exact measurements. I will highly recommend this ceiling.

I used this product when I redid my lower level. The ceiling was drywall ceiling with a plaster texture on it which is very hard to repair. I was able to cut holes in the old ceiling for new lights and to run wires with out the headache of repairing the drywall. Since my heat\ac vents were in the old finished ceiling I bought 1" thick boards to frame around them so the covers would have something to mount to and to keep the air from getting between the old and new ceiling. The hardest part of the job was running the first row of top hanger so none of them ran through a light or vent. After that the rest was easy. The one thing you need to watch is not to over tighten your screws since it will twist the top rail and make it hard to snap the bottom rail. I bought this over 2 yrs ago when it was in stock at my local store so I did not have to buy this kit online and could only get what I need.

Very easy to use, we attached it to the garage trusses with dry wall scews.

This system is one of the best DIY products out there, very easy to install and looks as good as any drop ceiling you'll see. My client was very very happy with the end results and that it was quick and virtually a mess free job. Fast shipping too. the dark spots in the photo are on the lens not the ceiling.

Easy installation, it allowed me to install ceiling tiles in my basement without lowering of the ceiling (the typical hanging ceiling would have to be installed a few inches lower). Thank you for fast shipment!
