Ceilume Stratford White Feather-Light 2 ft. x 2 ft. Lay-in Ceiling Panel exceeded my expectations. As opposed to fiber acoustic tiles, the Ceilume tiles were easy to cut and install. A heavy scissors was all that was needed to cut the tiles. On installation, the tiles were easy to position and reposition without damaging the sides or edges. The finished results were better than I had expected.

Simple to install. I read another consumer’s suggestion to keep my current ceiling tiles and place them atop of the Ceilume tiles. I did that and it worked out perfectly. It looks great. Easy to clean.

Hi Joseph, thanks for sharing your thoughts on Ceilume's Stratford ceiling tiles. You're right, the tiles are thin. The very first bullet point in the listing says "Vinyl panel is surprisingly thin but amazingly strong" If we're being specific, the tiles are .013" thick which is about the thickness of 13 sheets of paper. But unlike paper, vinyl is one of the most commonly used construction materials in large part due to it's durability and flexibility. ASTM testing has shown that the Stratford is an order of magnitude more durable than mineral fiber tiles. And since they don't absorb humidity, they won't sag over time like mineral fiber tiles. Thanks for giving them a chance in your ceiling.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Ceilume's Stratford tiles. The very first thing we mention about this tile is that it is "surprisingly thin". Because they're thin, they are also flexible when handled. Happily they are also amazingly strong (despite their flexibility). We've tested them in accordance with ASTM C367 standards and the Stratford is "an order of magnitude stronger than mineral fiber tiles". They're also Class A Fire Rated, GreenGuard Gold Certified for Indoor Air Quality, and meet FDA & USDA requirements for installation in food service areas. Finally, they're 100% Made in the USA. When you add up all of those factors, we believe the Stratford is a bargain and we're happy that you've given them a place in your home.

Hi Joe, we're happy to hear that you think the Stratford tiles look good. And you're right, they're very thin but they do work great with recessed can lighting. The International Building Code requires that all lights, HVAC grilles, speakers, and life safety devices must be supported by the ceiling grid or the structure above. HomeDepot.com sells a variety of can light housings and brackets to keep your installation code compliant. Thanks again for giving Ceilume a place in your ceiling.

Ordered to install in home theater room. They are thin, so very easy to work with and cut out (I used box cutters & scissors). I chose to just add these to the existing ceiling tiles to help with sound absorption (white ceiling tiles on top of black ones).

Very lightweight, and thin. You cut them easily with snips. They drop in grid nicely. Cut borders a little tighter than normal as the raised portions of the tile will allow you to see up through if tiles are too loose. Also, do not rely on these tiles to "square up" you grid. They can be pushed or pulled into grid that is out of square.

Hi Ajja, thanks for sharing your thoughts on Ceilume's Stratford tiles. You are 100% correct - our tiles are thin. The first thing we mention about these tiles is this "Vinyl panel is surprisingly thin but amazingly strong" While the tiles are flexible, they're certainly not "flimsy". In fact, recent ASTM testing reported that Ceilume's Stratford tiles are "an order of magnitude more durable than mineral fiber tiles". When you factor in that the Stratford is made in California with materials sourced from Texas, carries a Class A Fire Rating, and are impervious to moisture so they don't sag over time, we believe that the Stratford is a bargain. We appreciate you giving them a look.

Hi Leanna, we're happy to hear that you think the Stratford tiles look nice. And you're right, they don't hold anything because ceiling tiles should never be used to support anything in a ceiling.

Hi Maria, thanks for the kind words. We're happy to hear that you think our tiles look great. And you're right, the Stratford tiles are very thin and can't support HVAC vents or speakers. Per the International Building Code, all lights, speakers, HVAC grilles, life safety devices, etc are to be supported by the ceiling grid or structure above. Ceiling tiles should never support these items. Thanks again for giving the Stratford a place in your ceiling.

I’m quite surprised. Considering the price. I couldn’t believe how incredibly thin these were. My produce at the grocery store comes in thicker plastic. I’m going to have to adhere them to the old tiles so that they have some substance to them and don’t rattle and lift when the exterior door is opened.

As you've discovered, we were not kidding when the very first bullet point in our listing says "Vinyl panel is surprisingly thin..." As our listing says, the material is only .013" thick which is about the thickness of a good business card. But the 2nd part of our statement is "... but amazingly strong" Vinyl is one of the most widely used construction materials, in large part because of its durability (produce bags are neither as thick nor as durable as vinyl). You can find the ASTM test results on Ceilume's website showing that while the Stratford is flexible, they are vastly stronger and more durable than standard mineral fiber tiles. Depending on the installation type and paths of egress for air, all ceiling tiles can shift in the ceiling grid. That's why all major ceiling tile manufacturers make ceiling hold down clips. You can find ceiling clips at the following link on HomeDepot.com: https://www.homedepot.com/s/suspended%2520ceiling%2520grid%2520clips?NCNI-5

These tiles are thin, but look great. They are easy to cut and do not create dust. I left the old tiles behind these for noise insulation as these will not likely provide much. The tiles really brightened up the room.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Ceilume's Stratford ceiling tiles. A few important things to note: 1) depending on the size of a room and the available paths for air to move, all ceiling tiles can shift in the ceiling. That's why all of the mineral fiber ceiling tile manufacturers offer ceiling tile hold down clips. You can find clips at HomeDepot.com at this URL: https://www.homedepot.com/p/ToolPro-Ceiling-Panel-Hold-Down-Clips-20-Pack-TP05116/306546108 2) The International Building Code requires all lights, speakers, HVAC grilles, etc to be suspended by the ceiling grid or structure above. Ceiling tiles are not meant to support lights which is why HomeDepot.com sells a wide variety of can light housings to keep your installation code compliant: https://www.homedepot.com/s/new%2520construcion%2520can%2520light%2520housings?NCNI-5 3) The Stratford is Class A fire rated, GreenGuard Gold Certified for indoor air quality, and is 100% Made in America. We believe they're a bargain and hope that as they add beauty to your ceiling for years to come, you'll come to think so too. Thanks for giving them a place in your home.

Easy to install, but doesn’t provide the insulation from heat or noise that the mineral based panels did. Panels are too light, lift up and rattle every time the door is opened.

Easy to cut and put in! They look so much better than the " normal" drop in ceiling product. However I'm not sure I would put them in activity room where balls and other flying objects could possibly knock them out. I don't think they would break but just come out.
