This is a decent unit. I have had it installed for a year now and it works and sounds good. Since it is constructed of lighter gauge steel Than previous models I’ve owned I decided to also install the anode (sacrificial metal) so hopefully it won’t turn into a “rust bucket “ anytime soon (anodes are available at Home Depot as well)

Super cold. More efficient than the outgoing 22+ year cooler we replaced and cheaper than trying to continually replace parts on the old one. The 3/4hp motor on the old unit died recently. We replaced that with the same size 3/4hp motor found at homedepot. Since the rest of the old swamp cooler died (all within a week) I used the new 3/4hp motor with this. This unit comes with an adjustable pulley so that you can fine tune the rpms so that you do not overload the circuit. For the first time this summer, my wife asks "Is that on low, I'm freezing"? Yes it is, and it 's not even August yet :) Dock one star because the wiring they include was too short. The wiring from the old unit was about 5 feet long. The wiring with this unit was about 3 feet long. I had to use some of the old wiring to combine with the new. Aside from the wiring, this thing is a winner. You should note, (I'm reviewing the side draft unit pictured above ) this unit was little longer and wider than our old unit and it also holds more water. The old unit basically hanged off the side of the house, and the roof. Since this is larger and therefore heavier, I made a platform to hold support it from underneath. Very happy.

I just replaced my old Champion cooler with this new one. I've always looked for Champion, American made in my home town. They used to make a quality product. No longer. The metal is way thinner than the old one. So much so that they are bent up before leaving the store. Took the least bent one, discovered that the heavy wire grids that once held the pads in have been replaced by thin aluminum slats held on by black plastic trees that will break first time changing pads. Shameful how bad this is

Great swamp cooler, easy to install, blows cold air

Like the other reviews state, these are much thinner, lighter and much less quality than the previous models. The unit had no apparent damage when taken out of the box. The squirrel cage was so out of whack the i had to completly disasymble, bend and reshape. The water valve that comes with it is plastic and broke within a week. There were missing bolts right out of the box ( motor adjustment bolts). The panel doors had to be shaped and bent to get them to go in and out. If you have a way to buy a replacment unit somewhere else or a different brand, do it.

Very poor quality. When I removed the packaging 2 of the tube retainer clips were laying in the pan. 50% of the sheet metal screws were stripped, another 25% were loose. I had to replace the sheet metal screws with machine screws and nuts or larger sheet metal screws where possible. The motor mount only had bolts on one side. The metal is so thin that when you try to remove the knock-out plug for the electrical connection it bends the surrounding metal. One of the bearing hold-down bolts was stripped. I would have taken it back to Home Depot, but it was a 150 mile round trip.

I purchased this cooler 4/2020. Worked good for one month, then the pump kept going out. I replaced it 4 times. In 2 months and just put window ac units (great for home depot $) didnt use u it at all in 2021, decided to get it going again put new pump again and crossed my finger that pump would at least work till June/ hotter months. Now the Motor (which is purchased separately) burned out after 4 days of 2-3 hour per day. Nothing is made good anymore. From my experience- I WISH I NEVER PURCHASED THIS UNIT. wasted money and time.

I bought one of these two years ago, it was great. The one that I bought Oct, 2021 is crap. Welcome to the crap-a-fa-cation of the USA. I have much more to say but they have a word limit.

Pro Quiet. pads, pump, belt and float come with it. easy to assemble and keeping me cool in az. Con. I bought a 1/2 hp motor as designed but it was not big enough. It kept on turning off after 3 minutes and staying off for 7 more, making a 10 min cycle. I put my old 5/8 hp motor on and it works great. One of the bottom corners would not accept the pad louver so I had to remove a screw, and hammer a little to get it to fit. There was no hole for the water line to go into the cooler so I drilled one. Summary Expect to do a little work on it but its worth it.

Each time I replace a swamp cooler I think that they should be getting better at designing these. Unfortunately it is just not the case. I keep thinking that one day they will make one that is coated with plastic so that you do not always have to be coating it every few years. I also keep hoping that the hardware that holds the filters will improve as well. With this model it actually got worse. Each panel has 4 rods that go across and are attached with plastic rivets. It appears that it was designed to never be taken off. When I do have to replace the pads, the plastic rivets will more than likely break apart after a season of use. If the cooler wasn't boxed up when I purchased it and I saw this design, I would have never have purchased it. I guess the bottom line is that these are specially designed to only last a certain amount of time in order for them to be replaced. Without paying a great deal extra and purchasing a Master Cool along with paying for the retrofit install, this is as good as it gets.

unit was all banged up on one side we notice once we open the wrap at the roof. very light sheetmetalgauge/ wiring is so confusing even the electrician had a hard time wiring the motor and with.

Very upset that no one in the store told us all we were buying was the "shell" that housed the motor, pump, filters and water. It went back!!!!

Just hit a week of over 100 degrees. Does a great job in this area.

cheaply made, had to chisel out electrical knockout plug which bent the heck out of the housing. water supply hole too small, had to drill out. pad holders are flimsy and bent when trying to remove them. not worth $500.00
