  • Great Vertical Blind Upgrade
  • December 12, 2016
  • Recommended Product

We have two sliding doors that open to patios in our back yard, and with two young kids and two energetic dogs the vertical blinds over these two doors had taken quite a beating. The vinyl slats clanking together was loud, the pull cord was constantly tangled and left with slats keeping each other from rotating to a position where they could slide open. Eventually we just gave up and left the vertical blinds in the kitchen open and halfway slid closed to allow entry and exit without messing with them, but of course that is a horrible waste of energy in both the summer and the winter. Enter these miracle covering panels. They don't rotate, and the fabric panels stand up to being brushed up against much better than any vinyl slats could ever hope to. While I wish that the hardware was a bit sturdier and the fabric a bit heavier, these really do a great job covering a frequently used sliding glass door in a high traffic area. Installation took considerably longer than I expected, but mostly because I wanted to ensure all four panels were cut perfectly straight and level to each other. The result looks great, but still suffers because of the lightweight bases that cover the trim line. Our main complaint is the exposed tracks and hardware at the top, which was previously covered by a trim piece that does not seem to be available to match this set. Aside from the cheap trendy/modern look it prominently adds to our otherwise traditional décor, and somewhat cheap feel, this is a great improvement over the beat up vertical blinds it replaced. If a premium version with heavier weight fabric, hardware, and a trim cover for the top were offered, I would recommend that to every single person I know.

I can Not believe how much money I have saved on my electric bill this summer! I did a review on the Chicology Adjustable Sliding Panel, Fabric - Function, Blackout, 80"W X 96"H - Vanilla Gold Dust blinds I received from Home Depot almost 2 months ago. I wasn't really sure how much I loved these blinds until my electric bill arrived today. The one set of blinds were mounted for the period of June's billing and I was pretty happy compared to last years electric bill, I saved almost $30.00. I mounted the second pair on my sliding glass doors which are double pained, tinted, all of my windows in the house are double pained and tinted but that does not stop the sun from getting through. Florida summer months the heat is always felt through vertical blinds as well as Roman shades and even curtains. It is so Hot! Well it's been almost 2 months since I have had Chicology Adjustable Sliding Panel, Fabric - Function, Blackout Shades on the back sliding glass doors where the sweltering Florida sun beats down constantly from sunrise until about 3:00 P.M having my AC unit running sooo much of the day. The large front window is where the sun beams down the second 1/2 of the day. I am always looking for a way to save money and this purchase is one of the smartest purchases I could have made. For the entire month of July with temperature "Feel Like" reaches 110° My electric bill was exactly $100 in a 1500 sq ft home, last year at this time my electric bill was $170.00. I have been living in my new home for over 10 years and have never had such low electric bills in the summer. There is no doubt I have my new Chicology Blinds to thank for this amazing savings! Thank You Chicology, I am one happy customer and thank you Home Depot for carrying this product! I love that I can always count on you for carryin new products that are smart choices for me and my home

It blocks out the sun very well. For the price the material is good. The shades do stick slightly when sliding them, they just have to be moved slowly. We really like them and what they have done for the dining room.

I don't like puffy curtains so changing our family room decor was not hard. The Chicology Adjustable Sliding Panels were optimal for bringing modern style and elegance into any home. Perfect for our patio French doors. They soften the glare of an intense sunset during or completely block out the sun when catching up on TV or sleep during the weekends. Installation was a breeze took about thirty minutes. After measuring rolls to find them all the same size, I just cut off the same amount. Includes the hardware for ceiling and wall installation and inside and outside frame mounts. The telescopic track is adjustable anywhere from 44 to 80-inches wide. Each of the four panels are 22 in. wide and 96 in. tall. Simply trim the bottom of each panel height to what you need and install the bottom rails for a custom-look finish. Built cordless with a smooth track, these panels can open from right to left, left to right and right down the center. Cordless panels are safe for young children and pets. Looks good and happy to have installed them.

Pros Durable, Easy to Clean, Easy to Install, Easy to Use, Good Size & Weight, High Quality, Looks Great, Lots of Features, Nice Design, Sturdy, Stylish

  • August 06, 2017

I replace a set of vertical blinds with sheers, that our cat had destroyed. We wanted to try something new. I like the "basic" look of the 4 panels, but the product overall is a little "low budget" Pros: * somewhat easy to assemble * overall look is clean * the height is very adjustable. ( as you can see by the yellow arrow pointing at the bottom of the one panel, mine is a little crooked. This is my fault and easy to fix) * sliding the panels is easy and you can set them up to open from either end or the middle.. that's pretty cool Cons: * the whole unit seems a little "light duty", however we've been using ours for a while now with no issues. *The panels are a little bit more sheer than we would like(I SHOULD HAVE READ THE DESCRIPTION BETTER). However, we can go to the fabric store and buy 4 panels and fix that and completely change the look. I would recommend this, but be forewarned that, in my opinion, this is not a "heavy duty" , " high level" set of vertical blinds

Pros Easy to Install, Easy to Use

  • An Elegant Blind Solution For Our French Doors
  • October 05, 2016
  • Recommended Product

About a year ago, we bought a high-end French door through Home Depot. Because we are up on a hill, people on the next block can't really see through it, and since we have a 6 foot chain-link fenced yard guarded by four Great Danes, we're not too concerned about someone walking up to our door and looking in. However, off to one side of our house, there is a road that curves near us. So, installing some sort of blinds over the door was something we wanted to do, for privacy at night time. We've tried using the slimmer paneled vertical blinds, but children and dogs tore it up fairly quickly, since it was so easy for them to peek through, play with and tug on. We immediately liked the design of this Chicology Mountain Chocolate Cordless Adjustable Sliding Panel Track - 80 in. W x 96 in. L blind because of instead of having a bunch of 3-4 inch wide panels, it has four very wide 22 inch panels. While both sides of our French door will open, 99% of the time, we only open and close one side. So, this design works very well for us. We also like that it helps darken the room in daylight if we want that, and I'm sure adds a marginal R-value to our door's insulating value. The chocolate color also goes very well with our room color. All in all, we love this blind, and would recommend it to anyone. Thanks Chicology, and Home Depot!

I needed to replace to sliding glass door vertical blinds. I had been shopping and came upon these blinds. I decided to purchase one pair to see how they worked. I was very pleased with the ease of installation and the way they look. They really make the room look much more modern. They only thing is the valance they give you that is just a piece of material that sticks up there with velcro did not stay, but with a little super glue I have not had a problem. I am going to purchase another set for my dining room, just need to decide on a color.

  • May 15, 2018

The product looks nice when installed....unfortunately the big drawback is opening and closing. The panels do not freely glide and constantly get stuck in place. It takes effort to move them open/closed and with very little effort one can easily pull the wand off of its track. The wand is attached by a flimsy thin metal and it looks like a paper clip. The panels are nice and do keep out light. However, the panels do not run along the tracks smoothly and the wand/attachments are flimsy. Too bad because they look great when installed. :-( I recommend that Chicology put more effort into a sturdier product because the ascetic is very nice but the workmanship is less than desirable.

Chicology Mountain Cordless Sliding Panel curtains are a great solution to slatted curtains for my door wall. The instructions could be a little more detailed. Putting on the guide rails gave me a little challenge. I had to trim off the bottoms. I laid them on the floor, marked the top one and cut all 4 at once. You have to be careful not to wrinkle or crease them. Very happy with light filtering. Very Stylish.
