I used these to replace some very shallow wood panels...
I used these to replace some very shallow wood panels in a hallway closet. They were easy to cut to fit and allowed me to store wayyyy more linens and towels. Plus since they’re “see through” there is better visibility in the closet, allowing me to find that one last darn pillow case that was put on the wrong shelf.

I installed these 16 inch Closetmaid shelves for the first time a few months ago. I have installed the 12 inch version on numerous occasions, but never this one. I finally had an opportunity to install them in an bathroom linen closet. i was pleasantly surprised by how easy they were to install, just like the 12 inch version. These shelves provide so much more room than the 12 inch version.If you have the space and don't need to hang clothes, these are worth looking into.

This is the third house, in 25 years that I have used Closet Maid Shelving. I love to design my own closets because I can really utilize space. I can arrange my shelves the way I want. I started with 4-5 shelves on each wall. Now I have 6-7 on each wall with 12" to 16" depths, and different heights between shelves to accommodate what ever I need to store.

Seems pretty sturdy, but I wouldn't install these in anything else but a stud. I only gave it 4 stars because I wish they offered more color options. I wanted black shelves and couldn't find them anywhere so I had to spray paint these. The results were just ok. We'll see hou long the paint lasts.

This review may not be extremely helpful to people looking just for a shelf, other than confirm the material is quite sturdy. but I needed to build a protective cage around a heater that gets so hot that it could potentially burn a child touching a particular exposed surface. This shelf worked great! The wire is strong enough that it is difficult to bend, and when bent it holds the shape. Love being able to solve this problem is a simple strong raw material.

This is such a fantastic product. I traditionally have built all of my shelves out of wood. This has always required tools, cutting, saw dust, brad nails, caulk. The shelves are quick and easy with minimal tooling. I just used bolt cutters to snip it to the right size. Very quick and easy.

I'm using it in a different way. I bolted in the window, inside, leaving the blinds to move freely. I'm going to receive my 3 and 8 year old grandchildren and a war of pillows is going to be inevitable. So I protect the blinds and the glasses.

GARAGE , PARTS ROOM, AND PANTRY
PRICEY , BUT WORTH IT . I HAVE PURCHASED FOR 4 DIFFERENT PLACES. MY GARAGE , OUR APARTMENT STORAGE, MY DAUGHTERS GARAGE AND PANTRY, AND AT WORK FOR HOLDING ALL MY PARTS BINS. ADJUSTABLE IN EVERY WAY. EVERYTHING IS OFF THE FLOOR.

Flimsy
First off, the good: The wire shelving is super easy to install. Home Depot will also cut it to length for you in store at no additional cost. So the only tools you'll actually need to install it are a drill, a tape measure, and a level.
I used this for extra closet storage space, and installed three shelves that were about 2' wide each. The rated load capacity is stated to be 60 lbs, which I'm assuming is supposed to be distributed across the entire 6' of the original shelf. I hadn't noticed the load rating before I bought the shelves, so I can't complain about not being able to load up more than 20 lbs per shelf. However, when I put 16 lbs distributed fairly evenly across one of the shelves, the entire shelf became severely bowed. It's strong enough in the side-to-side direction, but the front-to-back needs some serious reinforcement (see pictures). That was only at 80% of the claimed load capacity of the shelf.
The 12" shelving offered by Closetmaid has the same load rating per unit length, so if you don't have oversized boxes, it may be better to go with the 12" or 16". The only thing the 20" is good for is pillows, linens, or something else very light yet bulky.
I suppose I could add a layer of plywood, but it would just look tacky. I should have made built-ins out of painted plywood and solid wood brackets. It would look nicer and would have been cheaper since I wouldn't need the specialized Closetmaid hardware to mount it.

Pretty easy to install
I installed a pantry with the CloseMaid products and everything fit well and went as expected. This was my first time tackling a project like this so I was pleased how it turned out. Because it was in an "L" configuration, I should have used a laser level to make sure the brackets on both walls allowed the shelves to be the same height, but a bubble level worked OK. I made all my cuts with a hacksaw but I was a little tiring! All in all not a bad experience.

Sticky Made
My home is filled with Closetmaid wire shelving from about 20 years ago. All of them are sticky. Many are simply unusable as the stickiness gets on anything stored on them. After 10 years of trying to keep them clean, I have given up.
I am in the process of finding replacements.
