Can be adapted to small closets
My closet is very small - 57" long x 18" deep. After reading a couple of helpful reviews and asking some questions, I realized that I could do some minor alterations to make this kit work for me. I had to cut the hanging rods to make them fit into the small space, plus I had to attach the rods to the tower further back than the instructions suggested due to the shallow depth of my closet. The tower was easy to assemble, and the instructions were well written with good diagrams. The project turned out great, and maximized the limited storage space well.

    better than building from scratch
Considered building my own but given time and tools i chose to buy this instead. The 16” tower is the model i went with. Closet was 48-5/8 wide x 23-1/2 deep x 8ft. The materials remind me of Ikea. The laminate is thin and easily chips. It is laminated on both sides of the shelves. The socket for one shelf cracked while putting together but didnt fail during install. I also bought the shelf and brackets. The shelf is not very sturdy even at 35” wide. I would do solid wood if your doing 48”. The height is perfect but lacks extra shelves. Cut some from another 48” shelf and used 5mm pegs to hold up. The base unit has adjustable feet which came in handy to level. Overall its a closet and the tower will sufficiently store the many shoes of a teenager.

In a standard 70s home, you can only use the 2 rods on one side otherwise you’ll have to cut them if you want all 3. Still happy we purchased this, it does add a bit more room but mainly I look how organized it looks.

        An upgrade from wire closets
We are updating closets and used this kit for coat closet and kids closet. I installed these myself and I did not have a hard time to install. My only mistake was cutting the boards to accomadate closet space. It would be nice if something was included for those that dont have the tools at home to cut

Happy with this closet. Works in my space perfectly. Only wish it came with an additional shelf as an option for extra storage.

          brown unifinished shelves
Very poor quality, plus misleading pictures of the set. Shelves are covered with white laminate on one side only! All of them!

Check measurements first, you may have to customize
My closet is 55 inches wide; originally I didn't buy this because according to other reviews, I wouldn't be able to have bars on both sides of the tower, because the shortest the bars go is 30 inches. The product is labeled for closets 4-9 feet, but I think what they mean is if you're closet is that small, then you only use the bars on one side. I really wanted a double hanging side and a long-hanging side, and with a cheap hacksaw I was able to get the results I wanted (see pictures). I actually even had to hack the inner slider bars on the right side because at 30 inches the inner bar blocks the fasten hole of the outer. I cut a notch in the bottom of the tower unit to accommodate for the baseboard so the unit would sit flush with the wall (see pictures). I added a shelf to the top as well (note that the top shelf is not included in this kit). All in all, a very good buy; if I could have just bought the tower, I would have gotten wooden closet poles with regular brackets and it would have been easier to cut to size for my closet, but I couldn't find a tower of shelves this size for under $100! Even if I tossed the poles and did something else it still would have been a good value. The shelves are solid and all hardware is included.

              So Happy I Purchased
Im always leary when buying things like this because most of the time they are cheaply made but after removing it from the box it was very solid feeling. It didnt take very long to assemble and the instructions were easy to follow. I will be buying the 16” one for my other closet.

Nice quality but will need to cut bars to fit..
We have 4 foot closets and bought this thinking it would fit, it doesn’t. We will need to cut the metal bars to fit with the shelves in the middle of the closet. Which isn’t the end of the world, but misleading for a quick afternoon project where the packaging says it fits 4-9 foot closets? See photo, shelves are directly in the middle of the closet

I needed this unit for a specific purpose. I wanted to retain my existing shelf in my closet, but have a place to put items on shelves. I wanted it to fit in 1/2 of a closet allowing for sliding doors to open and expose it, but also to have enough room to allow for hanging of clothes to the right of the unit. I was able to cut the sides of this unit to length and fit it underneath the existing shelf as desired. The adjustable feet on the bottom helped in this effort so I could adjust the unit to slide perfectly underneath the existing shelf. The unit stuck out a little further than my existing shelf, but they fit well together. The unit went together easily. The laminated particle board (or melamine board) is not as thick as some units I've seen, but it met my needs. My only question pertained to the method used to hold the top and bottom units together (there are two approximately 4' high units you stack on top of one another). The only mechanism used was 4 wooden pegs. No glue was provided for the pegs, nor any other fastener. In my case I screwed the top and bottom units to the wall using the provided brackets and maybe that is the manufacturers design, but the unit by itself would not be very sturdy without attaching it to the wall. It's also difficult to move around without the bottom and top units coming apart. I also notched the back/bottom of each side board so they would fit around my baseboard without having to cut that. Overall very satisfied with the result.

My husband and I got everything out of the box and gathered the list of tools required. If you don't have a drill & bit set borrow one or rent one. These projects go so much smoother and faster when you have the tools you need. Anyway, the instructions are easy to understand, but we do stuff like this almost regularly. Set up time was reasonable took us the better part of two evenings (after work, with 2 kids) to complete three of them, two of these and one a model up. We've had it up for about two weeks and I'm happy with the way it came out. I will definitely do this again next time we buy.

This unit was fairly easy to construct and install. The instructions are really easy to understand and are broken down into 10-11 steps. It took me about two hours total install time (also included building the drawers) The construction is alright. Nothing too fancy and quite honestly for what you're paying, you shouldn't be surprised. It's a particle board with a laminate finish. It's pretty decent and seems pretty strong once I finished everything. The instructions tell you when to verify the 'fixed' shelf locations if you're installing drawers in the unit. Perhaps it was user error, but I noticed the location they tell you to install the lower fixed shelf affect the openings, even with a three drawer construction. The work around is simple. Instead of using a 'fixed' shelf in this location, you'll want to use an 'adjustable' shelf. All the parts have their names printed on the back (so helpful). The only difference between a fixed shelf and an adjustable one is the depth of the shelf itself. The adjustable one is slightly shallower... This allows for all the drawers to close without issue. My only 'complaint' with this unit would have to be with the wall mounting brackets. They do a great job keeping everything sturdy; but I think they are getting in the way of my top T8 drawer. It seems to stick out slightly from the others, maybe .25" or so. Not a big deal, and we can live with it - but if you have serious OCD you may find it annoying. I'm unsure what the solution to this is - perhaps thinner brackets? Overall, we're really happy with this unit! We regret not buying the one that comes with the wall mounted shelves, but we'll be adding those to the closet soon for additional storage. This was a quick and easy way to upgrade our space and give us more usable space at a reasonable price. All in, this cost us about $300 (so far) and it's well worth it.

Great price for what you get. Easy enough to assemble--I put this together on my own so it did take some time. My only complaint is that there are not slots cutout at the base for molding/baseboard so it doesn't sit flush on the wall. I didn't feel like tackling this on my own. I guess everyone may not have molding. I also made additional shelves because the amount included creates too much space (big square slots) for what I wanted. Took a shelf into my local hardware store and had them cut wood to size--painted and installed them with support pegs. I even added my own top shelves because the matching ones wouldn't fit my space without needing to be cut anyway.

Assembly was pretty easy. But my closet width is not as big so I had to modify the orientation of it. Still works fine and I’m so happy with the results. I am not using one of the bars because of the width of my closet. But it does come with 3 bars.

great if you dont need to shorten the rods
I put the shelf unit together and installed in my closet. My closest is just under 5 feet, certainly with the dimensions stated on the box. Once i got ready to install the rods...they were too long and needed to be cut. Day two. I go back to Home Depot to purchase a pipe cutter as reccommedned in the instructions. Work one hour to cut 1 section of one rod. 1 of six. Go back to Home Depot and purchase a hacksaw. The second recommended item to shorten the rods. 1 hour later i have 1 section of one rod cut. I have purchased the unit, additional tools and am still no closer to hanging my clothes. Im sure this would work great in a larger closest. If you need it to fit in 5 feet or slightly less, save your time and money.

Center boxes went together quickly. Had to hand cut the rods to fit between wall and center boxes. Bought an additional rod and put upper and lower on both sides. Project took approx. 1 1/2 hours to assemble. Going to buy 2 more and do the other bedrooms. So worth the money.
