The Closet Maid closet shelving unit was very easy to install. I was able to quickly put it together and incorporate it into my already set up Closet Maid wire shelves. The shelves are adjustable in height and very sturdy. I used it in my kids closets and have been able to store clothing and toys on it without any trouble. Make sure to secure it to the wall firmly so that it will not fall over if children climb on it or pull it. I would recommend this unit as a quick and easy way to set up a standard closet. Does job I wanted it for

In general, the product is great and the price is very affordable. The user manual was easy to follow except for 1 step which didn’t define two screws had to be inserted on opposite directions on two boards because of the finished panel edge. So, -1 for removing those screws since it was difficult and a pain for me. However very satisfied with end product. Plan on adding more to it..

In the past, I installed wire shelving systems in my closets since I liked the "ventilation" idea provided by this type of shelving. The problem with wire shelving is that it left indentations in all my sweaters. 1/4" plywood help solve this problem but going forward I decided to try melamine shelving. This kit was easy to install but I thought it could be a little beefier. Don't get me wrong, the shelving is definitely strong enough for a clothes closet. I like these closet systems because they increase the closet's holding capacity greatly.

This came as a replacement to an older design of a storage organizer which was heavy, over-engineered, not functional and efficient and ultimately was not convenient and intuitive to use. This replacement turned out to be everything that my previous organizer was not. You get the 3 racks at 3 feet each extendable to 5.5 ft for hangers, total of over 16 feet. At that length, load bearing is certainly a concern and it is addressed in two ways: first, there is minimal gap between the main and extendable tube, adding to overall rigidity; second, the end caps and fasteners on both sides have such a design and material used (reinforced nylon) that it certainly could have a combined load bearing capacity of at least 200 lbs per joint, making it double for the entire length. Screws on the side of the organizer are limited to 1/2 inch, but on the side of the walls can be longer. I used 1 inch screws in the frame in the wall. You also get 6 shelves 2 of which are movable. Installation is very generic, un-challenging and somewhat boring if you drag your feet over 15 min putting it together. You practically can put it together just with a screwdriver even using the handle to tap in the dowels. You need hammer to install the gussets are the corners between shelves and side walls, but if you have a heavy duty stapler you can use that instead. Cam locks are exceptionally good quality, most other out there are made of soft metal that cracks when tightened. Instructions are very clear and concise, up to the point. Package arrived very well insulated and secured against hits and bangs so ordering from home is definitely a suitable option. I got additional shelves from my local store, and shelf pins are 3mm, the smallest type. It is scratch resistant and it turned out that crayon drawings come right off with just a wet towel. All in all, it is a great closet organizer, getting the job done at a unbeatable price.

This unit served as the starting point for building out a large coat closet in our recently renovated home. I have some prior experience with the Style+ line, now using two finishes and a few different accessories. In general, I have found that the line is a good mix of affordability and quality: the cost is not as much as those you may run into using a closet system contractor or custom-cabinet options. Quality is decent but not as good as you may find with built-in cabinetry. To me, the finish looks better than the older wire shelf styles, far superior to just a rod and a shelf in a closet, and sufficiently sturdy for closet use. The melamine finish seems to hold up well, though it is a bit easier to nick at the edges. The white finish seems to show this a little more than the beached walnut finish, and to me the bleached wood finish looks a little more "expensive" than the white. However, the white matched my application better for this install. Units are straightforward to assemble. Others have complained that the melamine cracks and is fragile: I would tend to agree that this is the case while assembling, but after the units are completely assembled, they seem to hold up very well to being moved and mounted. Once attached to the wall everything felt rather sturdy. I caulked where the units met the wall to give it a more "built in" look, as well as add a little more rigidity. I also caulked the seam between the two units as there was a small gap in between, and it did not match perfectly well. I am planning to add four shoe shelves, but these were still on the way to the store when I was taking the photos as HD does not carry these items in my store. A couple tips on installing these: one, be sure that all walls are painted and finished, as the backs of these are open to the wall. Second, leave off or remove all base trim before installation, this seems to be something that is not covered in the instructions. These will NOT mount flush to the wall if baseboard is left in. Remove it, install the unit, and then reinstall the trim surrounding the unit. Results will look a lot more professional. I did not use the included rods for this unit as I was building more of a bookcase style, but have used the rods in the past and have had a lot of luck with them. I would not recommend spreading the rods too much beyond the width of each piece, and have read that others have had stability issues when extended out towards 48 inches. In my experience I have had no issues with widths around 26 to 35 inches or so. One complaint is that the units are readily available in the store with rods, but difficult to find without rods (these are on the website), it would be nice if all the pieces were more readily available, especially in the store. Overall, I have been very happy with the unit. Perhaps a little pricey for what it is (especially the accessories), but a good value considering alternatives.

As the unit was next to a wall and I was adding drawers, I added a 1 x 3 piece of trim to the side next to the wall to fur it out a bit. I used one of the ClosetMaid shelf support kits to attach this, which worked extremely well. I also caulked the seam between the two units as there was a small gap in between, and it did not match perfectly well. The ClosetMaid Organizer 16.97 in. D x 25.12 in. W x 82.46 in. H White Floor Mount 6-Shelf Wood Closet Kit With Hang Rods is a project that I was not really looking forward to. It meant I had to empty my closet and then put everything back. Not a fun way to spend a weekend but it had to be done. My closet holds more than clothes my 40" flat screen TV is mounted to the wall so I can watch TV in bed and hide it when I'm not. So I had to change some of the parameters of this project. First the closets in most homes are not just empty boxes there are usually some rods and shelves already installed. In my closet there are brackets installed for a hang-rod and shelf that runs the entire length of the closet at 72" which means my new 82.46 inch shelves don't fit. But like a true DIYer I often think outside of the box. After assembling the top and bottom sections it was obvious two short sections would work as well as one tall one so I slid the assemble halves into the closet and decided to take some time and consider my options I will probably finish next weekend. But overall the assembly was not terribly difficult but I did have some concerns about the product. First, it is particle board which is totally unforgiving if you strip something out installing the post. Second, it is particle board which is super heavy hire two men and a boy to get the box in the house. And third is the cardboard corner bracing which I almost threw away because I thought it was part of the packaging. Next Weekend I'll make my modifications and finish the project and it will be fine place to hide even more stuff I should be getting rid of.

Love this closet kit. We used it for our laundry room/mud room closet organization project. We decided to use only two of the hang rods, although three are included with this kit. I wanted to be able to also have my vacuum cleaners stored in this space. The shelves are perfect for this room and easily are adjustable. I like the way the closet is designed. The materials are well constructed and Closet Maid is a name brand. This is a quality kit and one that we are very happy to have in our home. I feel that it was an instant upgrade to our closet and makes everything more organized.

Easy to assemble, easy to install and gives any closet a facelift! I've installed closet organizers from Closetmaid and other brands before, and this Closetmaid Style+ did not really seem any different from others. This is a floor mount system, which means you won't be spending an hour trying to line up racks and rails on the walls. Assembly was quick and painless. Each 'unit' is comprised of two sides, top and bottom and are held together with camlocks. There is a momentary awkward part of assembly when you have just the two sides together with the bottom: there is definitely a risk of product failure if you are not paying attention. But, once you get the top on, everything goes much easier. Tack on a few corner pieces to give the whole thing rigidity and you're on to installing. To install, there are only four screws that secure it to a wall. You'll be drilling all the holes yourself, so there is no need to worry about super exact alignment with factory drilled holes. The thing goes up pretty quickly. I did have a minor annoyance with the rods though. Getting them lined up just right is next to impossible by yourself, so be sure to have a second person handy if you want them all to be straight. This kit says it works in spaces from 5' to 10', which I think is not exactly correct. I guess Closetmaid thinks that you'll be centering the tower structure in your closet. If you have bi-fold doors, this works just fine. I have sliding doors, and centering the tower looked very bad to me. So, I opted to install the tower just off center, but this meant that space for the rod on one side of the tower was about twelve inches. Thankfully, I have a hacksaw. I cut the rod down to size, drilled a hole for the thing to mount properly and everything else went great. It is made of particle board, so it is not the most durable closet organizer out there. Mine came with a few blemishes at the corners, which I think is pretty much expected of particle board.

This is the fourth ClosetMaid organizer I've installed and the first from the Style+ line. I installed this shorter unit along with the wider 25" unit in my daughter's walk-in bedroom closet. The closet is approximately 6 foot square. The quality of this unit is consistent with previous units, and is assembled in a similar manner. Assembly is straightforward and won't take more than an hour or so. The end product is sufficiently sturdy for a bedroom closet and is a lot more attractive than the builder-grade rods or even the older wire-type of closet systems. To me the quality is comparable to what is available from some "custom closet" services and the price is significantly lower. The construction is some sort of engineered wood that is covered in a laminate. The bleached walnut finish of this unit is very attractive and comes very close to looking like real wood. Only drawback of this color is that it seems that it is a relatively new finish for ClosetMaid and that not all Style+ pieces are available. Hopefully this changes in the near future. I can compare between the Style+ and the Impressions lines, as I have installed both and it's difficult to determine the differences otherwise. The Style+ has a cleaner look than the Impressions, where the Impressions line has trim pieces along the sides of the unit and Style+ just has the ends with the same color laminate. This is purely a style difference and quality is similar for both. Both units seem to have the same construction, laminate over engineered wood, and use similar assembly methods. Impressions also are fully backed (so you do not see the wall behind the unit), while Style+ is open in the back except for triangular reinforcing pieces. Both are cardboard material and are nailed on. I included pictures showing the installed unit, plus some details of the finished unit. Note I also added shelving, which are sold separately. In short, I highly recommend these units and will likely use the Style+ for my master closet.

The ClosetMaid STYLE+ 15 IN. D X 25 IN. W X 82 IN. H BLEACHED WALNUT FLOOR MOUNT 6-SHELF WOOD CLOSET KIT WITH HANG RODS was the perfect solution for organizing my son's closet. The closet system is pretty easy to assemble and you can customize your organization design depending on the size of the closet. For instance, my son is 16 so we have everything set up for a taller person compared to having the rods lower for a shorter person. The system can adapt and change according to your needs!

This unit is good for a starter home, and it looks great. However, it is not the best quality product. We needed more space inside our closets and this unit helped perform the job. The panels are made out of 1/2” particle board which require more care than hardwood panels and are more prone to damage. Installation was very straight forward and can be performed with basic tools. The rods collapse and expand so you can adjust this closet system to different sized closets. It is a fair product for the price.

This STYLE+ 15 IN. D X 25 IN. W X 82 IN. H BLEACHED WALNUT FLOOR MOUNT 6-SHELF WOOD CLOSET KIT WITH HANG RODS is a really nice layout for a DIY closet organizer that is cheaper than getting it professionally done. Before the closet was just a mess, but now with these shelving and hanger rod kit it makes organizing a lot easier. I even got the drawers the can be purchased seperately for more detail and to put stuff in.

This Style+ narrow floor tower closet system by Closetmaid brings affordability with it allowing you to customize your closet whether it be a smaller reach-in closet or a larger walk-in closet. The color finish is called Bleached Walnut which is white with light brown wood grain going through it. It is made of particleboard so its pretty heavy and needs 2 people to assemble it. It goes together using the Cam-lock system with a good screwdriver because it does take time to put together. The tower is very tall and the rods are heavy duty. The shelves are adjustable in height to hold taller items & the rods can also be lengthened. The hardware that comes with it allows rods to be directly screwed into the wall or into sheetrock using the supplied anchor plugs, there are also shorter screws to attach rods to side of tower shelving. My closet is narrow and long with 1 wire shelf running along a wall so using this system with another wider tower from closetmaid gives me soo much more storage room now. Because it is 2 pieces with 1 on top of the other its recommended you attach it to the wall to stabilizes it cos it does wobble. The tower does have adjustable legs which aids in making it more stable. Fantastic product -i wish this came in a corner unit the same color!

I ordered 2 drawers but one was defective because the groove on one side was not cut long enough. We didn’t recognize the defect until the whole drawer was assembled. We took 15 minutes to try to figure out why the drawer would not close properly. So I had to return and order a new one. But the color of the unit matches well with the floor of my closet so it looks pretty good.

Well made and easy to assemble and install. Pro: All parts arrived, none damaged. Instructions adequate, could be better. Sturdy once installed, should last a long time. Laminate surface attractive, easy to clean. Con: None really, except that I prefer heavier toggles in this type of kit. General: Pay close attention to finished / unfinished edges when installing toggles and toggle pins. Otherwise you may have to redo some of your work (like I did :-( Assembly and installation of cabinet unit took about 2 hrs, rods took about 1 hour. 3 hours total project. I am an obsessive clean-as-you-go type, so your mileage may vary. Tools: Unmentioned in the tools list is a square to help square up the cabinets before installing the braces, and a sharp awl/ice pick for marking holes before drilling into the hard laminate surface. Instructions do say you will need a hammer, but be gentle - I used a tack hammer for all hammer work and it was fine. A heavy claw hammer as pictured in the instructions may do more harm than good.

I am so glad I installed this beautiful closet organizing system. It took a total of 2 hours to install. The instructions were very easy to understand and the parts easily identified. The only tools needed were a screwdriver, drill (for pilot holes) and a level. The before and after pictures clearly show what a mess my closet was, with only a long shelf and one rod. I took everything out of the closet and placed them in another room during installation. Then I sorted and edited the items that would go back in the closet after the installation was complete. One feature I really like about this system is that you can choose the size of your hanging garment sections. The clothing rods extend from 30 to 48 inches, so if you need more room on the long dress side, you can position your center shelves so that bar is longer. It is very customizable.

The style is a dark (noir) wood grain laminate. It looks good after a wet cloth to remove the scuffed look, out of the box. It does improve the functional capacity of the closet. It stores a lot, if you’re mindful of good Spring cleaning practice, this provides plenty of capacity. The rods are strong enough, I have a lot of clothes on one rod, just because of clothing length requirements. With minimum installation, the assembled tower wobbles, so I provided clips (L brackets) at the top and middle of the tower. The towers wobbles because it is tall. Instead of the supplied plastic L brackets, I bought and used metal L brackets, not as nice looking, but I’m assured of the strength and rigidity. Assembly is somewhat poor. The material is particle board based. When inserting screws, if you don’t get them in straight the first time, then try to bend it, it breaks up the wood. In a few places, to make repairs, I used high strength wood glue to fill the hole and re-insert the screws. In another hole, I used a high strength epoxy to fill the hole and re-insert the screw. I had to go a get some L-brackets and install them on several corners to keep the tower square. All the extra drilling left a mess, to be expected. Once I got the tower assembled and into the closet, installing the rods is fairly straight forward. Although you do need a level and good measurements to make sure the rod is level. This actually takes quite a bit of time and is true for most rod installations. All in all, good idea for improving closet storage capacity. For this product, assembly is fraught with problems and associated with the materials. Using extra L brackets, in my case, was beneficial for something that is rigid and feels strong.

Sturdy, attractive, flexible, functional and easy to install closet organizer. ClosetMaid’s “Style+ 15 in. D x 17 in. W x 82 in. H Noir Floor Mount 6-Shelf Wood Closet Kit With Hang Rods” (Model # 4364) is a great solution for configuring hanging and shelf space in a small or medium sized closet. And if you purchased two or more kits, you could easily use this as a solution for larger walk-in closets. It has 6 shelves, only 2 of which are adjustable, and it comes with 3 closet rods so you can have “double height” on one side of the tower and single/tall hanging on the other. I chose to install this in a small closet that is about 4’ wide. To maximize contiguous hanging space, I made it “one sided”, with the tower against the right wall and the double height rods on the left side. (see pic) But for most standard size closets (typically 6’ - 8’ wide), you would have the room to choose where you want the tower and how wide the rods are on either side. The rods expand from 26” to 48”, which when combined with the tower, easily fill a 9’ closet (not sure why the product description says 6’ 9”). The Tower/Shelf Unit Dimensions are: - Height: 82.46” - Depth: 14.70” - Width: 16.97” The “Noir” (black) finish is attractive, and thanks to a realistic-looking raised wood grain it does not show fingerprints the way some laminate finishes can. It came well packaged, and the instructions are clear and detailed. Read them carefully and the assembly will be easy. It can be done by one person, but it’s useful to have a helper for a couple of the steps. INSTALLATION TIP: The tower is assembled as two units, one stacked on top of the other, with wooden dowels connecting the two. Don’t initially insert the dowels - once you do it’s difficult to lift the top unit off. You still need to drill holes in the walls for the small plastic L-brackets that anchor the unit to the wall, and there’s no room for a drill when the top unit is in place. Instead, carefully set the top unit in place, mark where the L-brackets go, remove the top unit, drill holes, insert anchors, and THEN install the dowels and add the top unit. Now it’s not a problem to connect the L-brackets. Minor gripes: The pieces were very dusty out-of-the-box. Solved by wiping the pieces with a lightly damp paper towel. (Note that ClosetMaid recommends against using any water, as it can damage the particle board.) There are no “relief cuts” at the bottom, back edge of the floor unit. This causes the unit to sit away from the wall by the thickness of your baseboards and makes it difficult to secure the tower to the wall. I chose to cut away my baseboards to allow the shelf unit to sit flush with the wall. (see pics) The cam locks required a LARGE (#3) Phillips screwdriver. I’ve assembled many similar kits and never needed more than a medium (#2). You’ll need both sizes to complete the kit. Still a very good solution for your closet organizing needs.

This is a handy closet organization system. It's simple, but it's a good design in terms of space and organization. I added it to my existing closet setup, and used it as the impetus to rearrange all of my existing shelving. Installation was not hard, and assembly of the shelving unit was fairly simple. I spent more time planning where I wanted it and how I would use the pre-existing shelving I had in place. All of the necessary hardware is included for install: anchors, screws, wall mounts, etc. The pressboard panels were cut a little rough. The shelves all have rough edges; you can see some in my photos. The "teak wood" finish is nice however, and is a welcome change from brown, white or black. My only other complaint is the size of the shelves. I would like an additional shelf or two to further manage things like sweaters and sweatshirts. The shelves as provided are pretty far apart.

Closetmaid's closet kit is easy way to transform a small closet into easy to organize and efficient storage. First, the package is very heavy when it arrives so be forwarned that you'll probably need some help getting it into your house. In my opinion the weight is a postive thing once the kit is assembled and installed. It is very solid. There were some minor chipping of the laminate material around some edges but they were nothing to distract from the finished product. I was unsure what the exact color "coastal teak wood" was when I ordered this closet kit. It is a nice shade of gray which should work with many decors. I have attached a close up photo of the finish to help you decide if it's the color for you. All in all I'm very pleased with this closet kit.

the closet kit is a good budget saving shelving closet organizer. there room for improvement in material quality control . there minor chips in the planks from the saws used to cut the boards to size . i also found some missing mounting screws in the kit when installing the rod mounting brackets to the shelving unit. this was minor as I had spare wood screws in stock . plan on 1 1/2 to 3 hours in building and setup in your closet per kit . plan on having a helper in this build.
