This is a very nice and sturdy bookcase, especially for the price. One piece was slightly damaged and their customer service quickly sent a replacement. Here are a few tips I thought might help others when putting this together: • Buy a set of those magic sliders to put underneath. This bookcase is HEAVY, so the sliders will make your life so much easier. • Take a damp cloth to wipe down each piece as you take it out of the box to remove the Styrofoam that has a lot of static cling and other smudges. • Look at the pictures of the parts closely. They are not reversible, so save yourself time by identifying which end is at the top versus bottom. For example, the outer side panels have dowel holes close to the top whereas they are several inches from the bottom. • Label each item with its part letter (A, B, etc.), as well as which end is up. • You are assembling the bookcase “face down.” Remember this as you’re putting it together so you can figure out which item you’re looking at and how it will end up in the finished product. • The side molding (Letter K) and the fixed shelves (Letter C) create lips. This caused me the most grief as I installed them wrong and had to re-do. The lips need to protrude inward for the sides (i.e., they will be flush on the outside of the unit) and protrude downward for the fixed shelves (i.e., a book should slide off the shelf, not be caught by the lip). And here are some notes I took on the actual installation steps which may help: • STEP 3: This step is telling you to put the wooden dowels all the way through the hole. This is the middle section and the dowels are used to attach the fixed shelves to the middle, so they should stick out just a little bit from both sides of the divider. • STEP 6: The diagram does not mention you’re working with the smaller divider molding (Letter L). Also, it says “Label: This Side Up.” Don’t mistake this for the actual part which has an actual sticker which says this (Letter F); the instructions are expecting you to write that label yourself. Notice how the metal fasteners at the top and bottom are different distances from the edge – this will help you know which end to insert. • STEP 7: You’re attaching the side molding (lips). You’ve got the outer sides of the bookcase facing down and the dowels and metal fasteners facing up. This equates to down=outside of bookcase and up=inside of bookcase. The lips will be flush with the outside and protrude inside. So in this diagram, you are making the molding flush with the floor. • STEP 8: This is another place where they’re telling you to write your own label. Also, for this step, the lip of the molding is centered and is protruding slightly from both sides. • STEP 10: This is the section that I got completely wrong. Up to this point, pictures were depicted from top left to bottom right. But in this picture, the left is now the bottom. Remember this when inserting the fixed shelves…the lip needs to point downward once the bookcase is complete, so remember which end is the bottom. • STEP 11: Remember that the orientation has changed. Look at the dowel placings in the lower left-hand corner of the picture…this is the bottom of the bookcase, while the dowels in the upper right-hand corner are close to the edge which indicate the top. • STEP 13: This step says it’s important to not lift the unit until the bank panel is installed. But it wasn’t square on the floor and I needed to stand it up to slightly “rock” it from left to right to get it square. To make it easier for me, I attached the back panel with a single screw along only one of the sides in the middle. I then had another screw close by (well, in my mouth) and the screwdriver in my pocket. That way when I stood it up, it was partially attached so once I rocked the bookcase a little bit to make it square, I was able to insert another screw on the opposite side. I then laid it back down to finish up.

The shelf arrived broken. Yes, the side molding on the right was literally and totally broken. In addition, the side wall was cracked too, ready to break apart. I found myself with this heavy unpacked shelf which would have been a hassle to return (that was my first idea). Then I tried to glue it and fix it. It looks quite bad. I am very very unhappy with its quality. I called customer service, sent in a few pictures of the broken parts, and got a refund of 20%, but that's obviously not a satisfactory outcome...

Great Shelves
While the Shelves are made of manufactured wood, you wouldn't know it. The technique used makes the shelves feel and look like solid wood. Even the backing is made of a Thin Plywood like material. Very solid and sturdy and putting it together is easy.

Instructions to put together were not very good. Some pieces, mentioned in the instructions, were not marked. Thus, when putting it together was a Trial-n-process. Yet end product did meet my needs

Book case was easy to assemble and looks great in the room. My only complaint is that it took a couple months to arrive after I ordered. My guess is that this was due to Covid and distribution chain constraints.
