This screen is very well made and should last a long, long time. There are no rough edges or imperfections in the fabric. The directions are clear and easily followed. They state it takes 20 minutes to assemble and we found that to be accurate. Because we installed this high up (8’), we did need 2 people to install. There are no tools included. They suggest using a drill, marker & tape measure which is what we used. They also suggest a screwdriver and pliers but we didn’t need those 2 items. The screen can be mounted either on the ceiling (we mounted it on an overhead beam) or on side wall/beam. One thing I REALLY like about the screen is that it comes with 2 tie-downs (each one is 4” long) to keep it from flapping in the wind. Where we live, we routinely get breezes (2-5 mph) to pretty wild winds (55mph+). Being able to tie it down in the breezes is great but then you can easily wind up it and secure it from the bad winds. There is a rod that hooks into one end that allows you to easily roll the screen up or down. We mounted the screen in the middle of 2 uprights for our balcony so the tie-downs aren’t long enough but we use some bungee cords and it’s the perfect solution. The wand is 37.5” long from the top of its hook to the hinge on the bottom. The hinge towards the bottom bends easily and smoothly (so you can use it at the angle most comfortable for you) and is what forms the handle which is 9” long, so the entire wand is 46.5”long. It makes it very easy for short people (me!!) to roll the screen up or down. The color is easy on the eyes and where we have it installed, it blocks the setting sun well. I know that in the summer, it’s going to help a lot with the heat blasting the windows on that side of the house. If you get this shipped to you, you’ll need a hacksaw to saw your way through the shipping tube.

Really a stunning addition...love it for the privacy more than the shade personally! Makes my open porch feel closed in and some what private having neighbors close all around. Well worth the investment at a pretty fair price! Recommend to everyone I know!

The French door gets the intense afternoon sun, so we decided to install the Stone Cordless Light Filtering Fade Resistant Fabric Exterior Roller Shade. It fits perfectly over a 6 foot wide French Door, and provides much needed reduction in glare and radiant heat into the house. It’s easy to install and also comes with tie-down straps at the bottom to prevent the shade from flapping in the wind. The crank lever smoothly lowers and raises the shade, and its’s conveniently rolled up and out of sight when not needed. Recommended for outdoor locations, especially patios and outdoor covered decks, where sun blocking is needed.

Our backyard pergola patio faces the southwest and gets sun all day long. We enjoy sitting out on the patio but sun gets to be too much on cloudless days. The Coolaroo appeared to be the perfect solution. Our pergola is 11 feet by 14 feet so I went with the 10 foot to shade the main patio area of the pergola. Installation was extremely easy and the installation instructions were clear on each type of mounting option. This should be a two person install, however, I did the install by myself. The complete install took less than 30 minutes. All hardware needed is included. The end result is perfect. Thanks to the adjustment of the Coolaroo, we can filter the sunlight without completely blocking our view. I did believe that I could just pull down on the Coolaroo to extend down, but the clutch mechanism pretty much prevents this, which is a good thing. In this way, the Coolaroo spool won't unroll with gust of wind. The Coolaroo can be extended by hand with some force but I believe it is better to use the included hand-crank. I did not install the included bungee tie-downs, instead I am using longer bungee cords tethered to the pergola support post. In this way I can secure the bottom of the Coolaroo at any height. We have really enjoyed our new sunshade.

So impressed! This Coolaroo wand operated outdoor shade is absolutely perfect for the area I needed (to block the afternoon sun). The wand operates very smoothly. There are little rings on each bottom end of the shade so you can secure it so it doesn’t blow around when it’s windy. The color is called stone, the fabric is made of polypropylene and has a nice texture to it. This product is fade and stain resistant with UV protection. This shade is also lightweight - only weighing about 7 pounds. All the mounting hardware is included. It only took a few minutes to install. The wand has a hook at the top that attaches to the upper right side of the shade. Again, I’m thoroughly pleased with this sun shade. Very reasonably priced as well. Go get one for yourself!

This Cordless Roller Shade by Coolaroo has improved the comfort and use of our screen porch. The west facing window of the porch is where rain comes in and wets our chairs, so the shade works as a barrier keeping them dry. And, on those cooler mornings when there’s a breeze, it deflects the wind and the chill from hitting you. This summer it will give us shade from the western sun keeping the porch cooler. The wand provides ease of access to operate the the shade in spite of the outdoor furniture that’s in front of it since the handle can be pulled away from the wall and wound at an angle. We installed the 10’ size on our 9’ opening so that it would have plenty of overlapping protection.

This item took less than 20 minutes to install with all the hardware provided. You only possibly need a 2nd person when you put the shade into the two brackets. This product was something I had been looking for and was surprised to find it fit what I needed and resolved the problem I have every morning of looking east out of my 66 inch wide window where it faces into the sun and sky above my computer screen. This Light filtering shade from Coolaroo Stone solved my problem without going to a "black out" type of method to solve the problem. It allows you to see through the filter to some degree while still letting in some of the light. By the fact you can roll the shade down by hand easily it allows you to adjust the degree of limiting on the window you want. The shade is listed as only weighing 7lbs but it seems like less than 4 or 5lbs. In my case as the pictures show, I elected to install this inside the house instead of the other choice offered of installing it outdoors, and below some existing curtains with no adjustments needed. This is one of the few projects that you could read 5 items on one page for what to do and the measurements on exactly how far to space the brackets, use the measurements for the bracket placement and hit it right on the money first time out! While it is easy to roll this up and down by hand, I would be willing to buy a wireless kit if it existed for making this easier with the way I use it. I'm told a wireless kit isn't available.

This is our 2nd Coolaroo exterior roller shade. We already own the 120" x 96" inch version for several years now and have been extremely satisfied with the function and quality of the Coolaroo products. One really nice thing about these shades is that replacement parts are readily available at the manufacturers site. The crank/roll-up mechanism it uses is very simple to use. There is a nicely thought out cordless wand with 2 pivot points that make it very easy to operate. The pole has a long vertical section with a hook at the top that attaches to the end of the shade crank bracket. About two thirds down the pole there is a pivot point that creates a horizontal section that is about six inches long then another pivot point that goes vertically down again. So you are making circular motions that easily move the shade up and down. It takes very little effort and practically anyone/age can operate once shown how to use it. This is a nice product. This particular shade is 6 feet wide from end to end when appropriately installed horizontally. It arrives rolled up in a thick cardboard tube which is about 4 to 5 inches wide. It is a pain to remove the black plastic inserts at the end of the tube to remove its contents, but it ensures the product will arrive with no damage. The shade comes with 2 brackets that attach to the ends like a mini blind. The shade can be installed on either side of a horizontal beam or under the beam depending on your preference. It can also be installed on the inside of 2 vertical posts if the distance is correct. When installing on the inside of vertical posts make sure to account for the added distance of the brackets (appx 1 ½” on either side). The crank/roll-up unit on the bracket has screws that allow you to adjust it to the proper orientation. Its not hard to adjust. Remove the little screws that secure it to the bracket, turn and reinsert the screws.

Very happy with the 4 Coolaroo exterior shades. They make a big difference filtering the afternoon sun. Easy to install. Hopefully the pictures will help.

Great product and would recommend to family and friends. The only thing is when selecting location of placement, you might have to get one custom made or either move one up or down from other depends on your project.

Seems well built. I like this one, as the hold down brackets are made of metal not plastic. It appears this unit is heavy duty and should hold up for years to come. Installation is a 2 man job.

We did both an outside “nook” doorway area and a patio. They look much more expensive than expected. They take the glare out for sure, small amount of light comes through. We love it. Got a local handy man to install, all of the Home Depot contractors were very unreliable and left us hanging so that was disappointing.

We recently bought 4 of these to completely surround our patio cover. It tucks nicely between the beams. Since the patio cover is slightly slanted down for drainage purposes, the side covers come down at a very subtle angle. If yours is angled just pull it all the way out before installing to make sure you leave enough distance from the wall. Also the included bungee was too short to reach so we purchased some 9” ones with the ball at the end and that worked perfectly.

Great quality product and price was fair. Installation was easy. We had them for more than a month now and we can't be happier. The color and design enhanced the look of our little patio and most of all, they're easy to operate. Shipment was fast and we received them in perfect condition. Great quality and great price. I actually used it inside to cover a 10ft window wall. The room is very bright and having a crank shade made it very easy to block a large area and have a completely open view when retracted. The shade does let light through and you can see through it somewhat.

Since COVID I have had to workout in my garage. I have to leave to garage door open to let my kids play out front in order to get a workout in. Recently caught a man filming me while he drove by. I needed a privacy screen that would be dark enough so others can’t seen in but light enough for me to keep an eye on my kids. I also needed the height to be adjustable. I bought the pewter color in the 72 in x 72 in. It was perfect. As long as the inside of the garage is darker than it is outside, you can’t see in. It even works on cloudy days as long as I don’t turn on the garage lights. Now I can workout in peace.

The side of my screened in porch gets direct sunlight in the afternoon making half of the porch unbearable and super heating the entire porch. At first I was looking to get 2 separate shades (one for each window but there were none that fit 65" W x 9 ft H each) so I tried this 120" x 96" and it worked out perfectly. It covers the majority of the opening and you don't even notice the exposed edges. It looks and works great. Installation was a breeze. Of course it is best to have two people to install this especially long shade, but I managed to do it myself. I installed the right bracket with the clutch then measured the length from screw to screw and installed the left bracket. Tip: I duct taped the end of the measuring tape to the right side bracket then measured and marked the left side. I then inserted the right side into the clutch mechanism and snapped the left side into place - easy. I did a top mount so I had to rotate the clutch and left bracket 90 degrees but it was a piece of cake. The installation was flawless. I was amazed at the light weight small diameter of the rolled-up shade. It looks very neat rolled up and the shade does not bow in the middle (likely due to the aluminum shaft). The crank mechanism is smooth and works well. It takes a relatively small effort to open and close all the way but it works quite well. The shade really cuts the heat and glare from the sun. Very happy with this purchase. I considered a custom shade but simply could not justify the high price.

We'd been looking for blinds for a while. However, most did not have a finished look (with a valance) or were cost prohibitive for outdoors until we found these. They were relatively easy to install, inexpensive and had the valance we were looking for. Our pario has cooled down tremendously. Great purchase.

Really pleased and satisfied we got this shade. It was easier to install that I expected. Although 2 persons would have made lifting it and holding it in place easier, being a little creative, I was able to complete the job by myself. The open/close mechanism is solid and smooth - seems like a quality product. The shade is attractive and works well to block the sun on our patio. I'd definitely buy it again.

The shade was very easy to install (although the screws and anchors that came with it were too short) and very good quality. The entire install took less than thirty minutes, but it is more efficient with two people to hold the ends to fit the roller shade into the brackets. The brackets have screw slots which makes fine fit adjustments extremely easy. The mechanical crank wand works smoothly and quickly to roll the shade up and down. This shade has turned my hot southern Utah patio into a very comfortable dining and relaxing space! The estimates I received from "shade/awning companies in the area" were thousands more than this quality 90% UV protection shade.

I bought this to hang from my backyard patio in order to block the intense early morning sun. It works wonderfully!! It dropped the temperature in my kitchen by at least 20 degrees!!!

Installed on outdide wall of Lanai screen to prevent rain coming inside to wet furniture. Shade is always down. It holds up good for last few months during rain in Florida. Will roll up during storm or hurricane.
