Excellent replacement for 100W incandescents.
I used these to replace 100W incandescent bulbs in the kitchen pendant lights and a few bathroom fixtures. So far, they've been excellent. The light color temperature matches the bulbs we're replacing perfectly (my wife wasn't able to tell which I had replaced and which were original halfway through), and the light output is about the same level as well. There doesn't appear to be any warmup time like the CFLs we'd tried in a different section of the house. Compared to the incandescent bulbs, these are quite heavy. This wasn't an issue for us, but if for some reason your application would be affected by a substantially heavier bulb, be aware of it. The bulbs are expensive, but some quick ROI math indicated that with our local rates and having the lights on for about 5 hours a day, we'd make our money back via electricity savings in about 16 months. With a 10 year warranty, that seems like a more than reasonable timeframe.

Broke after 3 months.......
I thought this was going to be a great product when i initially purchased it, however, it lasted far less than the 25,000 hours Cree states. Hopefully Cree will honor their warranty.....

Two out of three duds, failed in 4 months
One failed after a month and the second 4 months. Very disappointed!!!

      Failed after only one month
1 out of 4 of my bulbs failed after only one month. We'll see how long the other's last, but not a good showing considering these are supposed to last 10 years. Will have to see how warranty goes.

        MUCH better than CFLs
Replaced some 100W equivalent CFL bulbs with these, and the difference is astounding! The Cree bulbs are brighter and light up instantly when I flip the switch. Colors are also better with the warn LED than with the warm CFL. I won't be going back to CFLs anytime soon!

          Conserving electricy
Very pleased with these bulbs. I replaced 4 CF bulbs in a suspended ceiling fixture that hummed when on. These new bulbs do not hum and I was able to add a dimmer which allows better mood setting and power savings.

          60% LOSS RATE
The bulb seems perfect in every way. Perfect color, brightness, size, appearance and instant on. The silicone coating is unusual, but understandable. The main problem is not the bulb. It is that 3 out of 5 arrived broken. So, after waiting 8 days, I'm wondering how Home Depot will handle the return. Who pays shipping? Do they wait until it is received? Will it be 1 month of time before I have unbroken bulbs that I can use. They have had my money for 6+ days. This may have been a fluke, but there was no padding at all in the box. It was a display box with 5 slots, one for each bulb. The box showed no signs of mishandling.

            insanely bright
I wish they were cheaper. But I used some to brighten up a dark basement room and they worked perfectly.

            Re-lamped and loving it!
Just replaced 60 lamps with LED's in the dining room. Everything is brighter and I love the glow that these lamps give the glass--it's beautiful. Looking forward to the reduced cost of operation and saved man hours changing out lamps.

            Excellent bulbs
I now have 10 Cree bulbs in my house and they all are working well. I've had some for over 3 months and have not had a single problem. I also want to commend you on your packaging. These packages are very easy to open and don't require scissors or a knife, like most other bulb manufacturers do.

Good product---part of order was miss-shipped (wrong product) --bad return service--supposed to get picked up by UPS but never did--probably will end up keeping product I don't want , but will go with Amazon next time

              Expensive but worth it
I like these lights for two reasons. They are generally smaller in size than CFLs (I have had trouble fitting in CFLs in some light fixtures) and they are actually brighter than the same wattage CFLs. One other benefit over CFLs is that they are instantly as bright as they are going to get. So no warm up time. I live in an extremely cold environment and it takes CFLs a good minute or two to achieve their full brightness.

              Great bulbs so far
I have had four of these for a few weeks in my kitchen pendant lights to replace 100W incandescents that are no longer available. They are perfect. The plastic base you find on all LED bulbs is much less prominent on these, which is perfect for my open fixtures (I can't see the plastic at all unless I really get under the lights and look up), and they give off a very nice bright light (a bit brighter than my 100W incandescents) that is a pretty, warm color. They dim easily and with no flickering or sound. Perfect! And I look forward to changing a lot fewer bulbs going forward.

Cree 100W LED - Soft White - Awesome!!
This bulb provides plenty of light and uses the least amount of power currently compared to other LED manufacturers in the 100W soft white category. There is a protective silicone layer encasing each bulb. The manufacturer does this to contain the glass in case you drop the bulb. I.E. so it doesn't shatter everywhere. It does appear almost sticky, but after having it installed for one month, I have not noticed any dust trapped on the coating. I peeled the coating off one bulb because the packaging did not say anywhere that the coating was meant to be there. It appears to still function normally. There can be defects such as a small bubble in the silicone so it's best to weed through the selection. I also noticed bulbs that were cracked on the shelves. This isn't the manufacturers fault, the fault lies with Home Depot and they should be pulled from the shelves. Cree also makes an LED bulb to replace a standard T8 fluorescent bulb. It is awesome and accepts wide range of ballasts and input voltages. Overall, the product is really great. The bulb instantly turns on. The light is very uniform. The price is a bit high, but I would still highly recommend over other manufacturers.

                Outdoor performance
Most of the data on the bulb is weak when it comes to outdoor performance. It says rated for damp environments but nothing about cold temperatures. I bought one to try out. It lights intermittently below 40 degrees. If you turn it on and leave it - it eventually comes on. I went back to a regular bulb.

Just what I was looking for
The Cree 100 watt output is the bulb I've been waiting on for some time now. This purchase is used for two outdoor lamps on my garage as well as two in my garage door opener and one in the garage as an additional light. The warm color range looks just like an incandescent bulb. I hope they last as long as expected.

                  Good light
These LEDs have very good color and are quite bright. The shape is also very similar to standard incandescents and should fit most lamps with shades supported by bows or directly mounted on the bulb, itself.

                    LED lights work
LED lights live up to their hype. What is more interesting is that you can now get more lumens from the LED lights than what the old technology could provide. In my case, I have these in max 60 watt receptacles.

                    New LED Bulbs
The 100 watt equivalent LED bulbs use only 18% of electricity of a incandescent bulb. Hopefully they will last long enough to pay for themselves. I was concerned about the amount of light since the CF bulbs never seem to live up to their ratings bulb these bulbs work great. Plus they are instant-on.

                    Brighter than expected
I replaced the CFL bulbs in two vanity fixtures in the master bath as the CFL's put off too much heat. 8 bulbs total were replaced and the difference was instant. Not only do the LED bulbs provide more light, they produce very little heat. I did not feel comfortable giving 5 stars for Quality or Value as nothing is perfect. The bulbs are heavy compared to CFL's and LED bulbs are NOT cheap. I will eventually start replacing all the CFL bulbs in my house with LED, and with a LOT of bulbs needed, spreading out the cost will be a must.

                    Awesome! The ultimate solution.....
Tried a few LED bulbs prior to Cree's new ones..... All disappointed. This bulb: Perfect The light spectrum is PERFECT for home interior lighting, dimming works great, they fit ALL my lamps, and my electric bill quickly dropped 20%. I figure these will pay out in way less than a year, and if you figure the lifetime savings, there is NO better investment I can think of.

                    Great Product/Good price
This item is 5 inches long which allows it to fit in most bath fixture without sticking out. Brite light, soft and no flicker and dimmable. Other similiar bulbs of lower wattage are 4 inches. The extra inch make the bulb stick out on certain fixtures. So, take note of dimensions.

                        Wow
Our kitchen fixture uses 5-100 watt bulbs on a dimmer and the dimmer got really hot with the incandescent bulbs. I either had to put in a different dimmer, or get LED bulbs. I chose the soft whites because the fixture is right over the table and the daylight LED bulbs are blindingly bright. Now the dimmer switch doesn't heat up and we have more than enough light.

These are still expensive up front, but worth it. We replaced all our incandescent and CFL bulbs in the house with these and our electric bill dropped dramatically. Plus they look great and can fit in most fixtures.

LED lights - The future is here, and it's so bright you gotta wear shades!
The Cree 100W LED lightbulb is impressive. I'm no lighting expert, but these really are that good. The color temperature (whether a light has orange or blue or white color) is spot on. Since I can no longer get 100W traditional incandescent bulbs, I've been using 78W halogen equivalents which produce 1,490 lumens (lumens = brightness). They work fine and their color temperature is also good, but they just don't last long, especially with wind-caused vibrations in my outdoor light fixtures. The Cree 100W bulbs have already outlasted the halogen bulbs, and they produce 1,600 lumens! Don't forget they're guaranteed for 10 years. GUARANTEED! Their predicted life is 22 years! That's more light for a much, much longer bulb life while using 82% less energy. What's not to like?
