Like a miniature sun
a set of very nice light bulbs, super bright and very close to the color of normal light bulbs (almost but not quite there). Be warned the bulb part doesn't get hot at all, just warm. The inverted base gets very hot, i wouldn't recommend using them in a closed fixture or if its made out of plastic. The entire thing is big so you might want to take some measurements before buying them to see if they fit. Did not work with my dimmer, but that's ok because i don't care about that anyway.

This is exactly the right replacement for the incandescent of the same wattage.
The product works perfectly and just as it is described in the ads and features sections.

    Failed after 5 days
I have tried three of these 100W equivalent bulbs. One failed after 5 days. That is a 33% failure rate - not good. Cree will send me a new one if I can find a box, pack the bulb, drive to the post office, and wait in line to mail it back. That is a lot of trouble for their defective product. I'm going to Lowe's to see what they have to offer.

    Great product
I ordered the 100 watt Cree LED bulbs as an experiment in home lighting. I found the "Daylight" bulbs are too intensely white for home lighting. I then ordered the "Soft" Cree 100 watt LED bulbs and like the color much better. I like them as a replacement for incandescent bulbs and far better than the "curly" bulbs. Only time will tell if they last long enough to be a good value.

Soft white is natural light and even brightness
The bulb is a little larger then a standard 60-75 bulb. This bulb is a great replacement in locations that need a little more light. With the energy savings, less heat, and plenty of light, it was a win win for upgrading several lights in the house.

Finally! a 1600 lumen 2700K LED at a reasonable price
I've been waiting a long time to get an LED like this. It produces a full 1600 lumens of light. It has a pleasing 2700K color temperature. It has a high CRI for accurate color rendering. It has a nice even radiation pattern. It's shaped like a normal bulb. That said, I have a few reservations about it, which buyers should be aware of. It is an A21 size, so it might not fit in some fixtures, like a bathroom vent fan. The bulb is glass, so it can break, and I've had one bulb pop off of the base. Cree was kind enough to replace it for me, but the glass does seem to make it unnecessarily fragile. I'm not sure why they didn't make it out of some more durable material. Because of the glass, it has a rubber coating on it to prevent breaks. That coating is sticky and can make it hard to insert the bulb in some fixtures. Combining the larger size with the sticky rubbery coating means that if it's a tight fit for an incandescent bulb, you probably won't fit this bulb in its place. We have a bathroom vent fan that I'm stuck using an incandescent bulb in because I can't get this bulb to fit. If they can get the size down a little more, make it a little more durable, and less sticky, I think this bulb would be perfect.

LED Finally has come of age!
The bulbs perform as advertized and are plenty bright. Soft white has nice hue tones and dims appropriately. I bought the 5 pack (one came damage in shipping) but my local Home Depot came thru! They are excellent replacements for 100W incandescent. The stay bright and are instant on - instant off. Only two minor drawbacks, They are coated with silicone and smell until fully cured and they are sticky to the touch and might attract dust. The glass envelope under the silicone is very fragile and in some fixtures the heat sync may need a bulb extender if the socket is narrow and deep. If the price breaks the $10 barrier for 100 watts they would be the holy grail of bulbs. Cree is a dependable product but who knows if they will be around to honor the 10 year warranty. I hope neither Cree or I have to worry about that. I would highly recommend!

LED bulbs, way to go Home Depot
You have great LED bulbs. Believe it or not, you are the only ones that carry the 5 pack 2700k bulbs. This bulb is a perfect replacement for 60 watt thru 100 watt incandescent. Great job.

    Viable 100W incandescent replacement
The CREE 100W class LED bulbs do what CREE promises - they are a viable replacement of 100W incandescent bulbs. These are a bit more bulky in the inverter base section than the 60W replacements, but still fit all my fixtures. The light output pattern mimicks a traditional filament bulb. Unless you look straight onto the bulb's top you wouldn't know. CREE's bulbs do not feature a forward facing LED on the top of their cylindrical LED post, i.e. there is a darker spot. Well, you'll need welding goggles to notice that since the LEDs are putting out a very high flux. The 2700K "warm white" bulbs look like filament bulbs in terms of light color (temperature) and do render colors nicely. The 5000K "daylight" bulbs have a crisp bluish light output that works for me quite well in the basement, laundry area and shop. The bulbs run cool, the inverter gets warm, not excessively though, and they are silent in operation. That is a huge benefit, since most of the competitors' LED bulbs have an audible hum or buzz that I find quite annoying. The glass bulb is covered with a thin silicone layer which will keep users safe in case a bulb ever cracks. Overall a very nice product - and I am very happy to finally get the light output of a 100W bulb from affordable LED sources. CREE is the technology leader - and they have proven their engineering prowess yet again with this product.
