Cree is simply the best. I used it with a Mastro Dimmer and programmed them down to almost off with no flicker. I picked the 3000K for the whiter light. (not blue like like the 5K). The application is the basement rec room with 9 fixtures. We turn them on 100% for cleaning etc. then dim them to 50 etc. for normal use. Replaced the standard 65 watt BR30 floods and got more light plus energy savings. The only negative is that the local stores did not stock the 3K, but the on-line ordering went fine.

PURCHASED BY MISTAKE WHEN INSTALLED WAS HIGHLY IMPRESSED BY THE AMOUNT OF LIGHT IT PRODUCED AND THEV10 YEAR WARRANTY ADDS TO THE VALUE. ON MY FIRST INSTALL I DROPPED THE BULB AND THOUGHT IT WOULD NOT WORK THEN I READ THAT IT WAS SHATTER PROOF AND INSTALLED IT AND WAS SURPRISED IT WORKED! AND STILL DOES.

I have bought these bulbs for a number of years now. I like that they are instant on and that they have the same color as incandescent bulbs. They dim without any noise. The down sides has been their cost (although the most recent ones I have purchased were much less expensive than in the past.) Some have not lasted the full 25000 hour they guarantee while others are quite reliable. I believe the issue is that Cree needed to or needs to improve the manufacturing process to get better overall quality.

These bulbs exhibit a weird light; tried them in several locations where we have canned light fixtures. The 65 W are just not bright enough, and the 100W is too bright, too cold with no warmth. Really disappointed since I bought several packages which I will be returning.

Excellent replacements for the family room. They do cost more than all the others, but you are paying for that 10 year warranty. Make no mistake, they will send you new bulbs (even new generations of bulbs) if yours ever fail. Unfortunately, I have experienced a lot of failures over the years, but Cree has always sent new bulbs and new generations of them. All I have to do is take the time to submit a warranty claim on their website, which could be annoying to some people, but not me...I paid one time for bulbs that I don't have to ever pay for again! The reliability has definitely improved over the years. The bulbs don't heat up as much, they don't hum as much, and they definitely last a lot longer than they used to years ago with the first generation LEDs. They improved the look of the bulb, but also the quality of the light from the LEDs! I think they are up to the sixth generation now, and they have made significant improvements along the way! I'm always impressed with the brightness, you'll never go back to incandescent when you install these! Buy them and find out why, but make sure if you ever use a dimmer, install a high quality one that is made for LEDs or you will just have problems (the old dimmers only work with incandescent bulbs, they have to be replaced when you upgrade to LEDs).

I use these in my kitchen. I love the amount of light they provide and also like that they’re shatterproof. Can’t beat that!
