Multi-use Crescent Wrench, Limited Life Time Warranty
I ordered this multi-use Crescent 16” adjustable spud wrench to carry in my vehicle when pulling my boat. It weighs just over 2 lbs 9 oz's, that’s a lot lighter than a whole set of large open end wrenches. It is large enough to fit my 2” trailer balls 1 1/2" nut and any of the other nuts and bolts on my boat or trailer. It is made of heat treated forged steel. It is 16” long. The tapered tang is designed to align bolt holes, it has a diameter of almost 1” at its thickest point. This is a great tool for the handy man. I have provided a short video to try to demonstrate the adjustment screw action and play.
Good wrench
The jaws open to just a 1/16 over 1 ½ inches or 39 mm which is the opening specified. The online specifications say 1 ½ inches so that is correct but they also say 45 mm which is incorrect. Apparently they can’t convert from inches to millimeters! It has an inch scale on one side and a metric scale on the other side so you can set the jaws to a specific size. The metric is correct on the tool. You have to get it in the right light to read it but it could be handy. It is forged and solidly made so it should last really well. It is quite heavy but for a tool this size I didn’t feel it was too heavy. It weighs 2 lb. 8 oz. or 1.14 kg so judge for yourself.

Quality Wrench
Every Carpenter should have a spud wrench in their toolbox, and this one is solid and well built. The laser etched scale on the side is very accurate and useful for quickly setting the wrench to the desired size. At first I was skeptical about the black phosphate finish, but in use, I have found that not only is it corrosion resistant, but it also adds grip to the tool for a more firm hold. Once you own this wrench, you will find many uses for the tail end, as it is invaluable in lining up two objects that need to be bolted together.

Great lifetime wrench!
I haven’t had much experience with Crescent tools before, but this one feels top notch! The wrench is a bit on the heavy side, but feels good in the hand. It is a 16 inch wrench with 13 inches of a solid steel handle. It says that this forged alloy steel is heat treated for extra toughness and durability. The entire tool (except for the flat jaw part) is covered by a black Phosphate finish to resist corrosion. This finish also provides much better grip and resists slippage over the other regular stainless steel / chrome designs. The handle is tapered towards the end which allows for multiple additional uses over the regular wide handle design. The extra wide jaw opens to a maximum of 1-1/2 inches or 38mm. There are laser etched markings on both sides of the jaw, one in inches and the other in millimeters. The jaw manually adjusts with ease as it has a spring tensioned adjuster inside. There is no indication of warranty on this tool, while on the HD site it says “Limited Lifetime” The only other thing I found is a marking on the packaging that says “guaranteed forever”, but who knows what that means. Overall, a great wrench that should last a lifetime!

Medium Quality Spud Crescent
This wrench has a good solid, sturdy, heavy feel to the casting. That makes it an exceptional tool in my opinion as a heavy duty alignment punch. This is significant because, rather than a regular punch getting snapped off trying to pry or align something, if you snap this kind of wrench you have a busted crescent wrench. The only complaint I have is in the adjustment gear. It fits loose inside the casting by about 1/16", therefore giving your wrench 1/16" of slop when you're using it because of the worm gear moving back and forth. It's fixable with a small shim, but not something you want to find out about after buying it and trying to use it for the first time. Otherwise, it's a great buy.

This wrench is very versatile! It could be used for many different trades. It has a nice large head and opens up to 1 1/2in and is very stable on the nut/bolt. The handle end could be used for prying, or adjusting a garage door spring, without the fear of it bending. This thing is heavy!! I have several adjustable wrenches and this one by far feels better than all others in my collection. Down side to that is I may have to see if there are other sizes and replace some older ones.
