I got this torque wrench because I have several cordless impact wrench with the purpose of removing and tightening lug nuts to make change my tires easier. This torque wrench is easy to use and adjust so that I can ensure that my lug nuts ae tightened to the proper specs. For my vehicle I needed the lug nuts tightened to 140ft/lbs. It was easy to adjust the wrench, I pulled down the red lever and while I have it down, Twist it to adjust it. The case is sturdy, gets the job done

A great torque wrench for the DIYer. This is my third torque wrench and from a quality perspective this one is by far the best. It features a longer handle than my other wrenches which makes tightening bolts with high torque easier. The torque setting process has both a positive and a negative. On the positive side it locks the torque setting into place and will not slip out. On the negative side, holding the collar back while adjusting from an unloaded position up to the torque needed (in my case 150 ft. lbs.) results in the collar slipping loose and locking a few times throughout the process. I appreciate the blow molded case but it features plastic hinges and clasps that have a thin plastic joint which will eventually tear through over time. In addition, the interior space where the wrench is held is not a fully captured fit allowing the wrench to move back and forth a bit. The product does not come with an extension bar. Including one would have set this product apart from the competition.

This wrench has worked well for my projects so far, though I was quite surprised that the packaging labeled it as 50-250 ft-lb (instead of in-lb). It's shocking to me that a company with a long history and good reputation would make a mistake like that.

Just what I needed
Was looking for a low-torque wrench for lawn equipment spark plug replacement and repair. Fits the bill quite well and of good quality.

The Crazy Idea?!?!
So, I already got this 28” half inch digital torque wrench in my garage and i really wanted to get another one for smaller parts i need to put on… Now, I figured that most parts will be at a certain pressure of a good hand-tool -tight!.. Now, I learned while working on a group of bolts for one thing might get a bit scrupulous… in the manner of which bolts,..etc. I get dizzy, so i figured mind all the smaller ones at this micrometer while all the others can go with my “Trusty” Hand-Tool -tight!.. So I’m tooling along it like that… which is my crazy idea to myself.?.. Anyways!!! Love it!!!!

Bought tool to use on my car. Waited for delivery( 2 days late). When received, I immediately set it for torque specs on axle castle nut and no audible indication. I changed to lowest setting (50lb) and tried it on a bolt in my vise and no audible sound. Tool is useless. Will return.

3/8 in. Micrometer Torque Wrench 50-250 in. per lbs. 6-30 Nm - a Home Depot Seeds Program Review I don’t often have a need for a torque wrench but when it happens I want something decent. This Crescent 3/8 inch Micrometer Torque Wrench seems to fit the bill for my light duty work. To be fair, I really don’t think this may be the product a true professional would be looking for but I’m far from that. I had used a borrowed beam style wrench before but when I needed to install a trailer hitch on my SUV I decided to get my own micrometer style wrench. Foolishly, I went to a (unnamed but the initials might have been HF) discount tools store and bought one. I never got the same results more than once, the markings were difficult to read and understand and the whole thing felt cheap. I decided to replace it and wish I had done so before finishing the hitch installation. The Crescent Micrometer Torque Wrench feels good. It seems to be solidly made but there’s more plastic than I expected. The entire handle including the adjustment collar and the sleeve with markings are all plastic. The black plastic with white numbers etched on the adjustment sleeve is very easy to read though. Even the direction reverse switch – actually more like a wheel – is plastic. It has well-defined, raised ridges that make changing wrench direction easy to do. The rest of the wrench is some sort of steel and the scales – inch-pounds and Newton-meters – are large and heavily etched into the steel and are also very easy to read. I can’t say the amount of plastic makes the wrench less durable since only time will tell that but, it was more than I expected and would be the primary reason I would hesitate recommending this for daily, professional work. The operation of the Crescent Torque Wrench could not be easier. You pull back on the adjustment sleeve and turn the handle until the desired torque is reached. Release the sleeve and the handle locks into place. Obviously, since the English units are in inch-pounds (50-250 in-lb), some conversion would be necessary to get to/from foot-pounds (about 4.2-20.8 ft-lb) if needed. In use, once the desired torque is reached, there’s an audible sound to let you know it’s done. I think their concept of “audible” differs from mine since the only indication of reaching the desired torque is for the head to deflect slightly – more of a tactile indication. I have no way to test the accuracy but the wrench does come with a Certificate of Calibration with a tester’s name and the date of the calibration and it shows the accuracy of my wrench being =/- 0.5%. This is well within my required accuracy. The wrench does not have a quick release for the sockets and I really would have liked that. Bottom line? The wrench feels well-made but I’m not terribly impressed with the amount of plastic used. It really makes me question its durability. The setting markings are easily read and setting the desired torque is a breeze. The certification of calibration is a very nice touch. I did not like the non-existent “audible sound” which is just a tactile head deflection. There is no quick release for the sockets. I would consider this a very good entry level, light duty torque wrench but, if I were a professional whose livelihood depended on this tool, I might consider something better. For the money, this Crescent Micrometer Torque Wrench is a very good choice.

I got this Cresent 1/2 in. Torque Wrench (and its cousin, the 3/8 in.) for my son, who is working as an auto mechanic. He liked the heft and length of this wrench, which is constructed for higher torque situations. The collar moves smoothly but it can be a little harder to lock in certain situations, it is simple to see the measurements and hear the click when you have reached your setting. The readings are accurate. There is no slippage when you are using the tool, but when you are ready to remove it, it comes off fine. He is very happy to have this wrench in his collection.

I got this Cresent 3/8 in. Torque Wrench (and its cousin, the 1/2 in.) for my son, who is working as an auto mechanic. He remarked that this torque wrench is well made and substantial in your hands, and is easy to use even with really tight engine compartments/engine components. The collar moves smoothly and locks easily, it is simple to see the measurements and hear the click when you have reached your setting. There is no slippage when you are using the tool, but when you are ready to remove it, it comes off fine. He is very happy to have this item in his collection.

I bought this for my husband and he is was very excited to have this new wrench. His old one was a lighter weight, and was hard to calibrate. He's quite the car hobbyist and will be putting this to good use. It's got a good handle grip, and is a comfortable weight. The sleeve that drops down to set the calibration is easy to use, easy to read and set. It also came with a certificate of calibration. Will be getting a lot of use, and I highly recommend.

I use this tool to tighten nuts on large hydraulic pump systems. The torque applied is very important and this wrench does the job. I compared this wrench to a very expensive and routinely calibrated system, and the torque was spot on. Not bad for the price! It came with a nice travel case which I have really come to like. Easy to use, accurate, and low cost!

One of the most important tools that you can have in your tool box is a torque wrench. This comes in a nice, hard plastic case that helps keep it clean and protected. The locking collar is easily moved and springs right back up into place. Adjustment of the wrench, for the proper setting, is smooth and easy to do, locking firmly in place. The settings are clear and easy to read. When tightening your bolt, there’s a very noticeable click that is easily heard and felt, when you have reached the desired setting. No guessing with this one. The handle is comfortable, even in my big hands. Add this one to your collection and stop guessing about the torque of your fittings. It’s guaranteed forever.

I love this Crescent inch pound torque wrench. I used it to torque down the ignition coils on my 2008 Ford Mustang GT. The Ford spec is 44 inch pounds, so I started at the bottom of the scale, 50 inch pounds, and took off six measures. Even though the Crescent isn't designed to measure such low torque, I still had a palpable signal at the right torque. The handle is about 14 inches long so you have more than enough leverage to develop the relevant levels of torque. The scales for English and metric torque are large, clear, and easy to read. The Crescent is well chromed - oil and grease smudges wipe off easily. With a 45 tooth ratchet in the head, you can swing the wrench only 8º and the wrench will ratchet. The spring loaded ball in the 3/8 drive keeps the socket from slipping off the wrench, but it releases properly when you intentionally remove the socket. The Crescent comes with a carrying case and a calibration slip in the box. I wish I had this a week ago when I was working on my daughter's Cruze!

Consumer grade but not professional grade. Although I do not often use a torque wrench, I recognize its importance and was pleased to be able to select this wrench. Unfortunately, I think this slightly misses its mark. It has a nice carrying case, but it is oversized and the wrench slides back and forth a bit. A little disappointing but the case is still worthwhile. Where I think this wrench could use some improvement is the direction change (this requires twisting the red 45-tooth head) vs other wrenches that have a switch and a quick release button for the sockets (this one does not have one). This might have a smaller head but it does not seem as necessary for a torque wrench. I do like the easy to read scale and appreciate the torque direction indicator. Changing torque is not too bad but going from one extreme to the other is tiring and could take a while holding down the collar. The handle is comfortable.
